Article 50-Has it done it's job ?

Well here's a question ? Surely Article 50 was a way for a nation to reflect, Negotiate and possibly change it's mind in the cold light of day. So my question is has it done it's job. In my opinion it has achieved exactly what it was intended to do, so whoever wrote it was a genius

So I see. A man called Lord Kerr.

Well he appears to have made a good job of it and has Brexiteers completely tied up in a knot so that the more they try to beat it the tighter and tighter the knot gets. I think they call it a Gordian Knot.

Actually, as we have now seen in practice it was the best thing to control the process.

It was written with the view nobody would leave, but if they did it would be all in favour of the EU once A50 invoked. Given our stance with 14 days left and no agreement we know on 29th March we will leave either with a deal, but more likely a no deal! However, it is now impossible for the UK government to get all the necessary legislation in place to facilitate an orderly no deal! That's what I call leadership - job well done? #chaos

There's an other interesting bit to A50. It can be revoked unilaterally.

But us Brits always play by the rules don't we ? . I mean what is stopping us from committing collective economic suicide. Surely we should have just done it 2 years ago and the pain would now be over. Ha ha. instead we've waited 2.5 years for everyone to line up and stick the knife in to completely finish us off.

By the way I'm not being serious but perhaps that is what we should have done.

Well, Article 50 still applies in law.

It permits a member state to withdraw in accordance with it's own constitutional requirements.

Now, the UK Parliament has inserted a date in law of October 31 for the expiry of Article 50.

There is a suggestion of court action being raised if Johnson refused to accept a majority vote in Parliament that sought to prohibit a no deal exit, on the basis such action would be non-compliant with Article 50.

After all, if the sovereignty of the UK Parliament is not a constitutional requirement, something that government can disregard, then we are living through a coup.

I read somewhere yesterday that boris is going to do that in the next few weeks stopping the uk from attending anymore meetings and having any say in the future of the eu in readiness for 31st oct.
