What happens if the deal gets voted through - they'll be partyless?

Is this the same Independent Group that also now has the 3 former Conservative MPs in it?

Is this the group that is demanding a second 'peoples vote' on brexit, because democracy is so important. But is refusing to call by-elections because their constituents made their choice at the last GE?

If they can break the Westminster system then good luck to them. I want the same thing, but by achieving political normality for Scotland.

Either way, WM doesn't work and has to be brought down.

Nope not in the slightest if they went for by elections my guess is only one of them would get returned.

I too cannot wait for the current political system to crumble into the history books, there's a whole mass of people waiting for real change and the end to this 30 year neo liberal mass madness multi culturalisim experiment.

Be careful what you wish for these people have voted against most party lines they are set up in a Panama tax free haven they havent declared where there fundng is coming from and some have close links with Israel so be very careful I myself belief in a world of peaceful tolerance where the rich pay there taxes and poverty doesn't exist anymore all these people got elected on these beliefs in the Labour manifesto and now they turn there back on this so let's see what happens but I can bet you one thing our media will back them

Erm, no. Because the country voted to leave which means that these MP's are only interested in serving their own agenda and not the people who elected them. They should stand for by-election, but won't because they know full well that they will all lose their seats.

"What happens if the deal gets voted through - they'll be partyless?"

Er, they already are partyless - having quit the parties they were members of.

"Is this the same Independent Group that also now has the 3 former Conservative MPs in it? "

Yes, I believe this is what Shag meant, but confusing things slightly by inserting the word 'Labour' into the thread title.

"Is this the group that is demanding a second 'peoples vote' on brexit, because democracy is so important. But is refusing to call by-elections because their constituents made their choice at the last GE?"

Hypocrites, every one of them

Chorley,

I would say weldone to these MPs and it's what's they believe in and if they can help to stop Brexit or even a No deal good on them. More the better.

Definitely a good move, if it prevents the very worst of what could happen to the UK. May has let the conservatives become the Rees Mogg ERG party, where what a bunch of minority MPs want, becomes the conservative position. She's only in it to prevent the conservative party from self-destruction - the needs of citizens aren't on the agenda.

This independent group company are a spineless joke those MP's should be standing in a by election to back up quitting there parties but none of them have utterly spineless. It is interesting that this exists it's a ploy that Brexit is not going to happen and article 50 will be extended so this group will fight the European elections. Why else would they break away

" a ploy that Brexit is not going to happen and article 50 will be extended so this group will fight the European elections. Why else would they break away"

Even if what you say is true - and it is quite a conspiracy theory - are moderate voters not entitled to choose from an option that is not Brexit madness?

They should have the balls to stand for a by election and see what the voters think of what this independent group are. All of them want to remain in the EU as the Conservative party have made a giant mess in trying to get a deal this group had come about to break the deadlock. I wouldn't be surprised that Tony Blair will front this organisation.

The issue with breaking the deadlock is it ultimately leading to a peoples vote and explaining a 560 page legal text to the public. It will be highly confusing so say the very least. Not least filled with Left v's Right bias (and vice-versa)

Parliament is filled with Dr's, Solicitors, Business owners, they are the professional class. 99% of them are used to dealing with understanding complicated legislative agreements.

How are the general public supposed to digest Treaty Text of this type if it went to a peoples vote.

It does pose the question of who and how is it all explained. That is if no deal is not simply statutory.

The political exhaustion of a peoples vote will infuriate voters one way or the other. The divide needs to be reconciled sooner rather than later.

And it should be live on the telly, would be good viewing and a good laugh. Would be even better if they were wrestling in the nude, that would be hilarious, wobbly bits everywhere and the speaker shouting order order while Theresa May is sucking his dick. Would either be entertaining or a vision from hell.

Has the EDL ever had 10k on a march.???The free our tommy march only managed 2000-3000.

So there's 200k armchair white supremacists waiting to vote for a far right party..That's not going to get even 1 MP into parliament.

It's not a very popular movement.Maybe if you all wear yellow vests you could be steal some thunder from elsewhere..

Have a look at the Uk version of the yellow vest movement. They uploaded a wonderful own goal on You tube yesterday. A chap who had experience negotiating real trade deals popped by for a chat with them.

Once they had tried shouting him down. He destroyed them with Polite knowledge over how long it takes to do a deal and the lack of talent we have to do it.

As he went on his merry way all one could muster was “what a load of shit”.

They are not sending their best.

I watched question time last night and John Barnes made a similar point - it would be hard for the average person to understand.

Dominic Raab would win as he's a Karate black belt. David Davis would be another one to watch as he's a former SAS reservist.
