Hilarious to see and hear the predictable indignation of the Brexit crowd. All he did was say it how it was and immediately the guilty got all defensive.

"I have been wondering what the special place in hell looks like for those who promoted Brexit without even a sketch of a plan how to carry it safely"

Fail to plan - plan to fail. Guilty as charged

The plan is:

Fuck us all up to get richer than they already are and then blame it on JC and Labour.

It may even work if the likes of some here are anything to go by. (By the way not having a go at anyone, just making an observation (and I commend you for his honesty, most will not admit to supporting the Tories but in the privacy of the voting booth will give them their X and then claim they could not foresee the bastards fucking them over). At least some here are honest about enjoying punching down when the opportunity presents (shame they haven't noticed the great big boot on all our necks).

I'm sure he is saying what many think - this has been the most reckless folly.

All written on the back of a fag packet (or the side of a bus).

No criticism of Mrs May.

Which made me wonder whether it is calculated in some way to help her get Plan A through the House of Commons.

Only the unelected EU bureaucrat Donald Tusk didn't tell it exactly as it is, did he. The Leave campaign set out a clear list of objectives that should happen if Leave won the referendum. That forms a basic sketch of a plan. Just to highlight how truly dumb the political pygmy Donald Tusk is, he was caught laughing about his comments on a live mic, when he thought it had been switched off. All Donald Tusk has done today is broadcast to the entire world what a monumental twat he is, and shown he has no diplomatic decorum what so ever.

That post proves my point. Not long ago in another thread you were telling us how you despise those at the bottom of the pile and would grind them under if you had the chance. Of course in the same post you told us you are some sort of social worker (remember? I do).

Fact is you are the epitome of those who vote against their own self-interest because it gives them an opportunity to do more harm to those lower down on the income scale than themselves.

And the real Tories (you are not one regardless of your belief) piss themselves laughing at you.

Lololol that is sooooo funny.

Ukip had been saying for years the first thing you do when you leave the EU is repeal the 1972 European communities act.

Was that listened to and done? No it wasn't.

David Cameron said he would trigger article 50 the day after the referendum if Leave won, Ukip MP Douglas Carswell asked him this specific question in the house of commons during the referendum campaign and David Cameron answered and said he would.

Did he do it? No he bottled it and ran away with his tail between his legs, like most remoaners he showed that he had no backbone, and no intestinal fortitude when faced with a tough decision to carry out his word.

The Vote Leave campaign said we should leave the single market, leave the customs union, end payments to the EU budget, end the jurisdiction of the ECJ in the UK, end free movement of people and take back the ability to strike our own trade deals around the rest of the world, those proposals form a basic sketch of a plan which government should be getting on with now.

The President of the European Council os elected by...the members of the European Council. As the purpose of the Council os for national governments to maintain direct influence on legislation that doesn't seem undemocratic to me. What's your proposal?

Tusk is certainly a political pygmy having brought Poland through the global economic crash without going into recession. What a loser. How would you define success?

David Cameron is a loser. I agree with you on that. He brought the referendum for purely internal political reasons and joy to you in pulling our country into chaos.

Not quite. I have always said I voted to leave to firstly break the Tories and their anti EU shrills because they have used the EU as a whipping boy to take the blame for the harm their policies do. And because being a believer in the EU I find our position of being in the EU but not fully in because we are 'special' toxic to the EU.

I still hold those views and have not seen a single thing out of the Tories to change my mind. In fact hearing old man Johnson saying that if the cost of brexit is the Good Friday Agreement and some dead Irish that is a price he is more than willing to pay confirmed for me that my position was the right one. Its a well used Tory stratagem that I want to ch*ke the bastards with and with luck brexit will do the job nicely and afterwards with those parasites gone we can rejoin the EU and start to repair 40 years of misrule and corruption.

"The Leave campaign set out a clear list of objectives that should happen if Leave won the referendum.

Lololol that is sooooo funny.

Every single sound-byte, every single meme pushed on social media, has been shown to be a crock of shit.

You call that a plan?

Lolololololol

You are in total denial.

Your shit idea is, um, er, only a shit idea because of the people who could see it was a shit idea?

Lololololol

Keep taking the tablets.

Exactly. You could fit all that on the back of a fag packet.

Do you think the programme for the London Olympics took up more space or less space than a fag packet?

"

If

That was the only word on the fag packet

If we could leave

Pay no money

Have no Irish border

Have trade deals where the world pay us to buy their stuf

And pay double for our suff and buy twice as much

Pay no tax

Pay no insurance

No have to work

Do exactly as I want

I would have voted leave

My fag packet has

However written on it because despite the wants the real world has rules and consequences and it really matters not what a little englander wants or me for that matter it has to conform and fluidly work with the wants of the rest of the world

Sadly Brexit wants are non tangible impossibilities, this was always true, and daily becomes more and more blindingly evident

"Hilarious to see and hear the predictable indignation of the Brexit crowd. All he did was say it how it was and immediately the guilty got all defensive.

"I have been wondering what the special place in hell looks like for those who promoted Brexit without even a sketch of a plan how to carry it safely"

Fail to plan - plan to fail. Guilty as charged

Only the unelected EU bureaucrat Donald Tusk didn't tell it exactly as it is, did he. The Leave campaign set out a clear list of objectives that should happen if Leave won the referendum. That forms a basic sketch of a plan. It was the remainer David Cameron who was the Prime minister who called the referendum and it was his remain led government who failed to have a basic sketch of a plan for a Leave vote.

If you can get away with the Brexiteers basic sketch of a plan existing, then you have to accept the Tories had a plan voted for in the General Election. Sadly neither have turned out to be anything like a plan.

We just have to face it, we could have had a continuation of a strong economy or take the ‘who the fuck knows’ model of the Brexiteers. Brexit is not going to be better than staying, it won’t be close to being the same as staying. It will be worse for many, many people. Only the few will do well from Brexit - Farage, BJ, JRM.

By the way, the Tories are preparing for that pain too. They are drawing up plans to use emergency powers to keep us in line and troops to keep them in power!

He was talking about no plans to solve the Irish border problem. So saying we had plans about the CU, SM etc etc isn’t actually what he was taking about.

What was the leave campaigns plan to square the circle of no border checks, no CU, and MFN rules.

No quoting waivers unless you can point to a source which said this was discussed in 2016. Not ten year rules which don’t apply here. What was the pre vote plan ?

That works if there is an excess of labour and if a certain salary level allows a business to be profitable.

The country has had a shortage of skilled staff in every field of endeavour that ill move this country and the world forward.

We also have a shortage of everything from cleaners to fruit pickers to care staff.

Where does the money come from to pay care staff what they deserve? Private nursing homes take council clients at a loss.

You think that cleaners are paid so little because there are so many wanting to do it? Positions are left open but salaries aren't rising. Cleaning firms work on tiny margins, pushing their staff onto zero hours contracts. Working for multinationals not willing to pay.

It isn't excess supply. You charge more, people don't buy. The company closes. That's where we find ourselves.

Tusk's speech just demonstrates his true colours and what is wrong with the eu.

They are back bench MP's so its not on the same level as Tusk, being an EU President.

Back bench MP's in the UK can be compared to MEP's in the European Parliament and that would be a more sensible comparison.

A more sensible like for like comparison for Donald Tusk would be Theresa May, the UK Prime minister, saying there is a special place in Hell for intransigent Europhiles in the institutions of the EU. Theresa May has not once used that kind of language though and has carried herself with decorum and dignity throughout the last 2 years. The same can't be said for Donald Tusk.

I saw a comment on either the Peston show on itv or sky news press preview earlier (can't remember which it was now) that said the image of Tusk and Varadker giggling like school boys after that press conference was like the Emperor laughing while Rome burned around him as the EU tips ever closer into recession.

If Tusk had simply said " I don't think that the uk conservative government had any plan at all for brexit " it would hardly have been mentioned on the news ( or on fab ) , however because he used , ( shall we say ,, colourful language ) ,, he managed to get accross the point that has been very evident since the day after the referendum , that the uk conservative government didn't have any plan at all for brexit ( and still doesn't ) ,,,, even brexitiers must see that ,, surely !!!

The country is split now and you and your "winning" side has done nothing to fix that.

No word or deed since then has made any attempt at compromise. The demand is for total loyalty which betrays quite clearly what is envisaged for the future.

Imo it wasn’t about the government, and it wasn’t about leave voters. It was about those who promoted brexit with no plan to resolve the Irish borde challenge.

If vote leave, Gove, Boris et al had a plan for this (or at least didn’t have a plan for everything else which made the border problem close to unsolveabke) the. We wouldn’t have wasted the last two years and reached this in passé.

But instead of addressing this underlying point everyone (including MOs and the press) have taken it as an attack in all brexiteers, and all leave voters. It’s almost as if they’re having a field day with the quote.

Nation of shopkeepers? We seem to be a nation of snow flakes.

The argument for Brexit is so laughable, and the points made by Brexiteers so delusional, that I can't be bothered arguing with them any more.

Unfortunately Tusk is right when he says there is no political will in the UK to stop this madness. All based on "the will of the people", when it was only just over half of those who voted, and based on lies and fantasies and a complete lack of understanding of what Brexit meant and how it could be implemented.

We are leaving. We need to get used to it and accept it.

Most people agree with their agenda, when polled on policy without seeing which party is proposing the policy.

The point of the party isn’t to take power, but to pressure the government into take a more green stance. Rather like the opposite of UKIP who pressurised the Tories to shifting further to the right.

It’s a worthy vote in my opinion.

Tusk is a skilled politician and would not say anything without fully understanding the impact of his words and with an agenda. So what was behind his speech? My guess is that it signals a potential compromise from the EU upon which he can blame the "hard line Brexiteers" for being unreasonable but not to worry citizens of Europe because they are going to hell! I suspect all sides are looking at finding a way out of this mess without people being able to say someone caved in. Sadly it is all politics and ego.

It would not surprise me if Theresa May unilaterally revoked Article 50 on March 28th or 29th citing reasons of national security - and then resigned. There is past form with things like this. Who can forget the UK pulling out of the ERM at the last minute? I got caught out then, just having sold a house in Spain about three weeks before.

I have been planning for a calamitous no deal departure for the last two years as I have been selling off assets in the US and have a big wedge ready to transfer over to GBP at the most optimum moment. Knowing when that moment might be though is becoming an increasingly fraught game of chance.

A no deal departure should see the £GBP sink by at least another 10%-15% against the $USD but a sudden revokation could easily see the existing 15% loss in value made up again within a couple of days.

Selfishly, £GBP parity with the $USD would be dreamland for me - though I can't see it getting that low unless the entire country then dissolves into a chaotic post-Brexit meltdown.

I hate Brexit and what it is doing and will do to the country - but every cloud.....

I think the real reason the likes of Tusk and Verhofstadt are so pissed and are using this kind of undiplomatic language now is because they've suddenly realised their wet dream of reversing the result through another referendum has gone up in smoke and won't happen. Unlike in other EU countries who have voted against the EU through referendums but have had those votes reversed through subsequent votes, the UK is different in that we respect democracy here and will carry out the result. As foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt said a few months ago if the EU think we won't leave then they have fundamentally misunderstood the British psyche and the British people. Most of Europe on the mainland have never really understood the British but the penny may have finally dropped with the German's who said In a begging letter to appeal to the UK to stay the other week that they now realise sovereignty and independence is paramount to the UK and comes before anything else. Much to Tusk and Verhofstadt's annoyance the referendum result was backed up in a general election in 2017 where 85% of the electorate voted for parties with a brexit manifesto, and none of the polls have indicated any great shift in public opinion. Tusk also had a dig at remainers in the UK yesterday and said there is no effective opposition to Brexit either. Yesterday the EU's mask slipped and the kind of language Tusk and Verhofstadt used indicated that Brexit has beat them in the UK, they can't reverse it and we are leaving.

2. Did theresa may agree to a shit deal that's unacceptable ? YES!

I see Sir John Major is now echoing what Tusk said.

Young people will "never forgive or forget" the Brexiteers responsible for this steaming turd.

This is the bit that sums it up:

“It is the first time in our long history that any British government has embraced a policy of self-harm, despite their own advisers warning that it will make our nation weaker – and our people poorer.”

Same for brexit .

There is something to be said for that. As a nation we have been insulated from our poor decisions for generations.

The only down-side to this thought process though is that the resulting bleak landscape may well result in the rise of more extreme voices who finally see that foreigners were not to blame after all and we end up with some kind of period of great political instability and continue harsh divisions.

I think that's right.

Brexit was sold to voters as a remedy for whatever grievance they had.

Many will discover it was no remedy at all.

It'll be the same shit, only deeper on a different day.

Who will get the backlash from that?

We're already seeing the Brextremists saying it's all going to be the fault of the EU or people who voted remain.

I can see a few custard pies hitting the Johnsons, Rees-Moggs, of this world.

Very true, and I guess all parents do allow a certain amount of leeway to let them lmake mistakes and learn from it, And get scratches and scrapes, but you wouldn’t want them to get deep cuts that will leave them with scars for life!!

It’s not irrelevant because I was trying to see if you are holding people to the same standards

Go and see what mark Francois did when speaking about the airbus chairman

Go and see what kawcyznski tweeted when he saw the uk wasn’t going to get his way....

See the comparison Jeremy hunt made and the reaction he got when he compared the eu to a Soviet Union goulag....

And yet the right were up in arms when juncker tweeted a cake and a cherry!

So no... if you are going to hold people to a standard then everyone should uphold that standard!

We were insulated from the ERM when we were expelled from it. Similarly we have insulated ourselves from the problems of the Euro and the poor decisions that were made around it by the rest of the EU who joined the single currency. Seems to be a recurring theme throughout history that the more we distance ourselves from the EU, the better we end up doing.

Funny enough then it's the same people like Blair, Clegg, Mandelson and Campbell who said the UK would be a basket case if we were outside of the ERM and the Euro, who are saying now we'll be a basket case if we leave the EU. Whatever those individuals say then it seems a good idea to do the complete opposite.

Or not? The benefit we have gained from joining the EU (in all its guises) has been immense. The great thing about it is that we don’t have to follow a homogeneous solution every time. In fact many of the things Brexiteers have complained most about have been within the control of Parliament anyway. Brexit ‘benefits’ are just made up by the very establishment you rail against - Mogg, Johnson, Gove and Farage are as establishment as you get

Oh, wait, are you saying that we've been able to pick and choose what we want to do?

Are you saying that the EU hasn't dictated to us what we have to do?

Did we isolate ourselves from a completely open market?

Did we isolate ourselves from setting regulations?

Did we isolate ourselves from 60 FTAs?

You contradict yourself with every argument that you ever make

Are you assuming i don't?

Not that it's important.

What is important is that deals and comprises are made.

That's how these highly paid so called profesdionals should behave. this shit playing out ahead of and looming up on 29th March is what you should be focusing on! The near future is what's important, not that history lesson you gave me (fascinating as it is)

Look ahead , not behind! I sense mr. Fabio, you enjoyed Tusk's stupid remarks & want people to suffer under a hard brexit, just to gloat over cheap and petty point scoring. Am i right?

It is pretty undeniable that staying in the EU is the best deal for most people in the UK. Brexit is just complete & utter bollox. Trying to pursue an outcome we know to be wrong for the majority should be stopped - the Tory ideology driving this is formed out of the hankering after the Empire and it does not represent us!

Tusk is just telling it like it is & its about time Brexiteers opened their eyes and ears

If the best deal is to stay in the EU, then all Brexiteers end up being in the same demographic.

Just arguing for a slightly less shit deal isn’t being any better.

Or, not guilty as charged and Donald Tusk, not telling it like it is.

MEP and Ukip party leader Gerard Batten came up with a plan for leaving the EU in 2014, which he wrote about in a book, a full 2 years before the referendum in 2016. He also published the full plan online in 2017, two years before Donald Tusk's comments.

This video shows Gerard Batten launching UKIP's plan for leaving the EU online in 2017, there is a link at the end of the video where you can read the full plan/document, which is over 100 pages long....

The following video shows Gerard Batten speaking last week, after Donald Tusk's comments, where he mentions writing about the plan in a book in 2014, and also shows the published 2017 document....

How much influence has Batten got in the Brexit process.... I'll give you a clue, it's between -1 & 1, or if struggling, it's 0%, nill, nada, feck all.

Who is in charge of the Brexit process... The Government, and how much of a working plan have they had really, I'll give you a clue, it's between -1 & 1, or if struggling, it's 0%, nill, nada, feck all.

Farage's plan but he has no say in the Brexit process is a crash out on WTO so really that's another big fat between -1 & 1, or if struggling, it's 0%, nill, nada, feck all of a plan.

The plan was for the EU to cave and not do custom checks, even though we had left the CU. Because they need us etc etc.

I guess it’s a plan.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d put it at balderick.

It certainly seems to have gone to pot once the first shots were fired.

Actually yes that's true, all the Brexiteers did have a plan, and that plan was for the EU to buckle & surrender and give us everything and beg us for free trade deals on our terms

Their position on the trade ageeement seems even more confused.

We shouldn’t waste time negotiating. We should tell them current FTA or walk away. And they will accept current deal as they need us more than we need them. The negotiations will be over in an afternoon (it really says this).

But if they do tell us no deal, it’s okay we can use article 24* and negotiate over the next 10 years. So by walk away we mean stay where we are.

And in the meantime we will be on the current FtA terms. You know, the ones they said no to.

* still haven’t seen anybody with an ounce of credibility on WTO terms back this position up, but let’s run with it here.
