Chorley,

Another waste of money by the government drivers paid £550 each for what. So brexiters think all this money is well spent. 89 turned up that really very realistic to how the ports will cope. We are a laughting stock of Europe.

Haven't you been reading Crackens thread properly? He just said on there an EU ferry company has purchased 2 large 'Brexit buster' ships to ship lorries directly from Rep of Ireland to France, Belgium. Each ship has capacity for 600 lorries, so is 1200 lorries over 2 ships. That's 1200 fewer lorries on uk roads and 1200 fewer lorries that will be passing through Dover. Maybe get your figures correct if what Cracken said is true, it won't be 6000, it'll be 4800!!!!

It's a Farce when someone posts a thread about a Farce and can't even spell Farce.

only if by _abio got his figures wrong you meant this

"The location for the Department for Transport’s trial was a disused airport north of the Kent port that was once used to test the bouncing bombs employed in the Dambuster raids in the second world war.

Under contingency plans, Manston airport will be used as a parking facility for 6,000 lorries, but only 89 participated in the trial staged at 8am on Monday."

thats okay centy.... i'll take the apology!!!!

Did you expect them to do a trial with 6000 lorries? just asking.

Babbacombe Torquay

I didn't expect a trial with 6,000 trucks.....but for crying out loud 89 trucks is hardly going to give a true indication of the problems that are highly likely to arise on Kents road network.

If there is going to be a trial at least make some attempt to make it barely realistic.

The farce being that Manston is in the arse end of nowhere whilst Dover traffic uses the M20/A20 not the M2/A2.

The organisers planned to do it with rather more than 89 though....they couldnt even manage to sort that out. Gives one confidence that when push comes to shove theyll be right on the case doesnt it?

I think we are missing the point here!

Dover handles 10,000+ trucks per day! So that's 4,000 more than capacity at Manston - take away 1,200 for the Irish trade and you still have 2,800 more than Manston can take.

So this exercise is the equivalent of fighting a fire in your home with a soda siphon!

Awesome! Good job some EU companies are able to take advantage of this. Are you going to let our British trucks get on those EU ferries unless we paint them red, white and blue?

Is this another example of a good idea that has nothing to do with Brexit? A bit like actually training our own workforce, or actually not just being cunts to people?

-Matt
