" Along comes the Brexit vote, and people wonder why so many stuck two fingers up at the ruling elite. Inequality has consequences. Brexit is just one of them. " The sad irony is that the single purpose of Brexit is to widen the gap between rich and poor. Handing more power and wealth to the elite directly from the hands of everyone else.

Some did, because they want to keep the cash rolling. Others are keen to remove all the red tape and crack on with the oppression of the workers here. Not to mention removing the environmental protections etc. Why do you think they put so much effort into dividing the working class? The tactic is as old at history itself. Make the little people fight amongst themselves. Throw in a few standard skapegoats, (immigrants, foreigners, etc) and boom, people will vote themselves into poverty.

Most ftse100 would likely have operations in the Eu. But walk me through the EUs protectionism policy. This was mentioned in the Express link posted yesterday. I believe the poorest “least developed countries” can export to the EU tariff and quota free. But it’s not strictly a FTA as the countries can put tarriffs on Eu exports into their countries.

The multi nationals and big business also want to remain in the EU so they can keep an unlimited and unrestricted number of cheap foreign workers coming into the country. The EU is an endless supply of cheap foreign labour for them so they don't have to pay to train British workers up.

"i am mate and i dont see it.Where are environment protections being eroded or workers rights threatened?" This has been extremely well documented for at least the last three years. It’s the only reason Banks, Rees Mogg etc want Brexit. I’m assuming your question is a wind up, or some form of trolling.

You have to be a character invented to wind people up. But to answer your characters question. All people employed in the uk are employed under the same laws with the same minimum wages and the same rights, regardless of their country of origin.

Actually what Michael Gove has been saying as environment secretary for well over a year now is that the UK will be greener after Brexit, and will take steps to become more green than the EU after we've left.

Gove likes to grab any attention that he can for himself, often aided and abetted by his partner. His green initiatives may or may not ever happen of course but he can still bask in the glory of promoting himself and them. As pointed out, the EU hasn't really held the UK back, to pursue green or non-green strategies. It's been the UK conservative party that's pushed fracking back on to the map in the UK, with activities in Lancashire over the past year. How green can we seriously think the conservatives are of course, if they're in pursuit of such unpopular moves as fracking!

There's only one Green Party in this country and trying to pretend you are green makes you look a knob head.

"It's a ridiculous statistic, isn't it? And no accident either. All part of an ideological con. Austerity, we were told, was needed to pay down the country's debt. So resources and services were withdrawn from the little people, making their lives more miserable. And the debt? It's trebled. The wealth of the richest has doubled, meanwhile. Austerity - and these fat cat salaries - are an ideological trick to redistribute wealth upwards. Along comes the Brexit vote, and people wonder why so many stuck two fingers up at the ruling elite. Inequality has consequences. Brexit is just one of them. " I question some of the assumptions your whole argument is based on. Fullfact has a large section on this wealth and wage gap from 1960 to 2016. It doesn't say everything is perfect but concludes:- . "Although the big increase in income inequality the 1980s is hard to miss, you can tell different stories about how income inequality has changed in the last 20 years depending on which years you compare and exactly what measure of income you use. The Office for National Statistics summarises that there has been a gradual decline in income inequality over the past decade. At the same time, the proportion of people in poverty has either been stable or fallen slightly"
