Bristol East

are all owned by International Airlines Group.

Most of its shareholding is British.

Under the EU open skies policy, only airlines at least 50 per cent owned by shares held in the EU can operate in the single market for aviation.

One possibility is the group will need to be broken up. That, or a major buy-out of the non-EU shares. Another is to relocate to Madrid.

Its an interesting twist on the aviation thread.

Aer Lingus flights from Dublin to anywhere in the EU would also become illegal.

So keeping open the airports is not quite so done and dusted then, guess this is another of those easiest of things that will take a few fights over the summer to sort out...

DOH, the summer is 6 months away brexit less than 100 days...

Just saying...

I really don’t think they would want to stop thousands of tourists flying to thier countries spending lots of money there.

As for the permit they are talking about that works both ways.

No need to worry. Article 50 will get revoked.

Google it and come back and tell me it is no problem.

Even better if you can think of a solution.

And to clear up confusion, this is not about flights between the UK and the EU.

It is the rule of the aviation single market that airlines operating between two EU destinations must be at least 50 per cent owned by EU investors.

"

if it’s investors what drives it , then i am not too worried as many EU mutual funds and pension funds which are into blue chips are invested and could easily add up to 50% and more, for that one should look up the shareholder book.
