Theresa May would never make a poker player. Last night all her emotions were plain to see and clearly the cabinet was nowhere near unanimous in its approval of her plan.

She did say something quite extraordinary though - she added a third option.

This Brexit deal

A hard and damaging No deal Brexit

Or no Brexit at all...

Mmmmm

That was a very surprising thing to hear her say.

What do you think she means??

I took that to mean the possibility of a fractured Parliament handing the question back to the people and the people not making the same mistake twice.

I've had an idea. Now there is a deal on the table we can actually do something about our intentions now. If you go to the people's vote website there is a simple way you can lobby your MP with a generated email which by default expresses dissatisfaction with the Prime ministers deal and asks your MP to vote to throw it out. Well haven't they missed a trick here.

The three options on the table are

1 accept the deal

2 Reject the deal and crash out with no deal

3 Abstain as I wish you to express my unhappiness that we are leaving at all

So this is what you do. Go to their website and answer a few simple questions that you can skip if not interested and then it has a thing for generating an email that you can adjust.

Dear MP Bla Bla Bla

I am a voter in your constituency. I wish you to vote for option 1 2 or 3 in the forth coming vote. If you do not follow my wishes in the house of commons I will no longer vote for you at the next general election.

If this can go viral your MP is going to have to take note of what's going on here as if he votes against enough peoples wishes then he stands a good chance of losing his or her seat in parliament.

So get voting

Search for peoples vote website and get lobbying.

It could make a difference if enough people do it.

Do you mean that the Tories having spent 8 years forcing austerity on the country while doubling the national debt for no perceptible benefit to the UK because there was no other choice and then announcing its over, that the Tories are now intending to do the same with brexit after spending the last 2 years presiding over the fracturing of the nation in order to remain in power?

The danger with that is if it does come back to the people on the deal as it stands could be what to do if the people also reject it, could she go back to the Eu and start again but the major issue if the border etc will be the same..

Maybe she means she will un trigger article 50?

She probably knows she's dog meat at the end of this however it pans out so takes an executive decision and drops it then resign..

Whether legally she can is another point..

Interesting on tv this morning two MP's being interviewed on "the deal" - one had read it, one had not! It begs the question what do MP's do or supposed to do? This is the most important document in 50 -60 years and he get £75k pa and he can't be arsed to read it!

I do, and I bring the subject up whenever I can at local party meetings. But I am told that Labour (or any other political party) will never refuse to take advantage of an opportunity to take up the reigns of power.

The problem is remainers lost and are not happy - they demonstrated (peacefully), but it's not going to change - on 29/3/19 we will no longer be EU members! Leave however have been promised "the world" - which is not deliverable, so let them have it - once reality sets in they'll see the light - they were lied to! Bring on the hormone induced beef and chlorinated chicken - yeah!

Alternatively for anyone who supports Brexit go to the Leave means Leave campaign website and there are a number of ways there people can get involved with supporting Brexit, including lobbying your local MP to deliver on the result of the referendum to leave the EU. Get writing a letter to your MP and tell them if they don't deliver Brexit you'll never vote for them again.

Search for Leave means Leave website and get lobbying.

Yep. whichever way you do it just do it. I like the peoples vote website because it generates an email contact so avoids faffing about with paper and a stamp. Does Leave website do the same thing ?

I think she means what she said, that if the UK Parliament (or any of the EU27 for that matter) reject this, there are only two other options:

a) the next PM (for it shall not be her) heads straight for the EU exit door on March 29

b) the next PM realises how catastrophically unpreprepared the UK is for a sharp exit and seeks a stay of execution of Article 50.

There is no space or time for any other outcome.

A referendum or a General Election between now and March 29 does nothing to change either option (unless it results in Article 50 being withdrawn. But I cannot see that option being on the table).

The only outcome ever in the control of the UK Goverment was the no-deal exit, but it appears to have made little or no provision for the investment needed for this. Consequently, exiting the UK with no contingency planning is the equivalent of 65 million people boarding that red bus and being driven over the cliffs of Dover while the driver sings ‘Rule Britannia’ - the end of the United Kingdom as we know it.

Is it even possible to withdraw article 50? Somehow I doubt it and if as I understand it the majority of pro Brexiteers were hoping to make our country look like it was a powerful and important nation again then the prospect of us having to go cap in hand to the EU and beg forgiveness will be more difficult to swallow then having to accept how wrong headed and lacking deeper thought the whole Brexit process has been to date. I’m not saying we’re doomed but we have dramatically damaged our status and position in the worlds eyes already and pursuing this folly is not going to be anything but a very bumpy and costly ride. Now what’s that song they’re playing on the radio “we’re on the road to nowhere”?
