Interesting documentary about something not covered by mainstream news.

Im no fan of the police having negative encounters with them. as a victim of crime, high handed and not really interested., and as a perpetrator of a horrible crime, clipping a bus lane and getting fined by a traffic cop, full of patronising lectures.

Yet when a neighbour was burgled, and they had video footage, the police said they'd be round, in 3 days to take a statement

If they are facing a tight budget, are they going for the easy offences to keep their targets?

I've had a car broken into, another car stolen, and two break-ins and thefts at my home (both from my shed).

Not seen any police for any of them, although they've given me a crime number each time "for your insurance".

I do, however, quite regularly see up to 6 police officers huddled around one speeding camera at the bottom of our road.

What's non crime hate?

So your saying people shouldn't report hate crimes ?.Or it's not important?

The upside to this is you can quite rightly say there is no hate crimes in this country and portray all victims of these crimes as liars and fantasists .Well played sir ..

I believe it means crimes that aren't racial, homophobic etc that aren't already covered by current legislation.

I had never heard of until today so did some digging .

The police force has defended itself by saying it was following national guidelines - an assertion backed up by an examination of operational guidance produced by The College of Policing for officers.

The guidance from 2014 directly references the findings of an inquiry into the murder of black British teenager Stephen Lawrence which ruled the Metropolitan Police was “institutionally racist” It states: “One of the fundamental findings of the Stephen Lawrence inquiry was the need to respond to racist incidents as well as to crimes.

“A non-crime hate incident is defined as: any non-crime incident which is perceived by the victim, or any other person, to be motivated (wholly or partially) by a hostility or prejudice.

“Most forces have a system for recording non-crime hate incidents and should be able to analyse non-crime incidents so that preventive activity can take place, and any tensions that exist in communities can be measured.”

T he problem is everywhere by the looks of it.

If they have to prioritise, why arnt tbey going after the more serious, instead of the easy, or even revenue generating by way of fines

Ok......car broken into in Manchester.

Car stolen from a small village near Stoke.

Shed broken into in one house in Hampshire, and another in Derby.

So exactly where would you like me to move from?.....

My point was that if there's enough police to have a group gathering around a speed camera, how come there's not enough to investigate other crimes?

On this issue, having had similar myself, I'm inclined to agree with you. I also think, from the point of view of policing with the consent of the community, if the only contact most people have with the police is when they've made a minor infringement of some motoring offence but never see them when they are the victims of more serious offences, their attitude to the police in general is likely to become more and more negative.

I have had to get the police out on a number of occasions to deal incidents involving my partners son who was making a bit of a nuisance of himself (drink and drugs) and to be fair they always seemed OK to help.

However it is some 2 years or so since the last incident so not sure if they will react in quite the same way. Budget cuts and all that. The problems rumble on and I hope to goodness they will be there if I need them again as it gets a bit scary dealing with it on your own.

What that says is that either there is insufficient police nationwide to do the job - but although there have been substantial cuts of police officiers the government insists there is enough!

The other option is poor leadership resulting in poor use of resources? You could always leave the UK if you feel so bad about it.

Or... (and here's a thought) I'm not expecting miracles but, the leadership could show some support of victims, something theyre paid to do? Crazy and radical weird idea i know but thats my suggestion.
