The fact that opposition members (whatever they call themselves in the US) are involved, makes me worried that the guy is being strung out by a lot of lies.

It stinks. The whole process from the loons who demonstrated from the get go to Corey (who Has admitted to some horrible things) Booker and his farcical Spartacus moment.

Kavanaugh could go either way. I watch with fascination.

Have i got this wrong or are the other complainants and people who can testify to the Ford allegation in some way not to be heard by the Senate committee or the FBI?

"The fact that opposition members (whatever they call themselves in the US) are involved, makes me worried that the guy is being strung out by a lot of lies."

the same things were said about Weinstein, Cosby and Saville..

problem is when its political then people tend to lose impartiality and even empathy..

Did you catch Trumps presser yesterday? He talked quite a bit about it in his usual word-salad way:

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/09/27/politics/donald-trump-press-conference-new-york/index.html

even to day "He could be persuaded" when asked his thoughts on it.

Yes, some people will get their knickers in a twist that it is CNN, because they have been told by Trump to regard CNN as bad. But the majority of the article is direct Trump quotes.

In a way I hope that the 'right' decide to steamroller Kavanaugh into the supreme Court because I think it may turn out to be the biggest mistake the 'right' makes and results in their total defeat in the mid-terms.

I can never bring myself to be interested in the elections, voting trends or minutae of the U.S.A.

None of us get a say in it. All the news reports we constantly get with regard to American politics, makes me wonder where I am living. Unless it has an actual impact on us, do we really need to know half the stuff that gets reported?

Just tell us who won the elections and when the next bombing campaign starts.

Everything else is....meh. concentrate on OUR lot instead.

I watched some of the live coverage on sky news when Ford was being questioned. Her story has so many holes in it, it looks like a block of Swiss Cheese. Also that she's kept this to herself for decades and has only decided to come forward now also looks extremely fishy.

This is not a court of law, nor is its decision governed by the same requirement of guilty beyond a reasonable doubt to refuse his confirmation, it is a committee deciding on if someone should be offered a job. That you fail or refuse to understand this speaks volumes about you Centy.

No I defend people like Sir Cliff Richard who have had their good name dragged through the mud by false accusers and liars. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Ford was paid a fee by the Clinton foundation in a dirty brown envelope for yesterday's 'performance'.

I, in now way, want to call into any doubt Dr Fords testimony. But *if* it were something that were induced by money (I don't think it is), the thing is I wouldn't even know which side would be most likely to do it. As it stands it looks more likely the his own side could have done it.

Dr. Ford is absolutely telling the truth. There should be an FBI investigation to bring the other witnesses forward, and also the people that Dr. Ford has confided in over the years.

I don't know about any of the other women accusing him, but Dr. Ford has a legitimate case of sexual assault that should be investigated before any conformation should proceed.

Trump is pushing for conformation before the midterms, because if the democrats take control of the house, trump in going to be in Very hot water, and he knows it. It's not likely the democrats will take the senate, but if by some chance they do, trumps ass is cooked for sure !

The sooner this idiot of a president is out of office the better off the world will be. The whole civilized world knows he's nothing but a big joke, a habitual liar, and an idiot. Unfortunately, the people that don't know all of this by now, are most definitely mentally lacking themselves.

Feinstein..."You were very clear about the attack,"

"Being pushed into the room - you don't know quite by whom but that it was Brett Kavanaugh that covered your mouth to prevent you from screaming. How are you so sure that it was he?"

Ford..."The same way that I'm sure I'm talking to you right now. Basic memory functions."

"Also, just the level of norepinephrine and epinephrine in the brain - that neurotransmitter encodes memories into the hippocampus so the trauma-related experience is kind of locked there, whereas other memories drift."

I think the guy should have got the job, this woman had no witnesses, nobody corroborated her story who was there, she can't remember where the house was or who was there.

If all that is required is a "story" to stop somebody getting a job then we're going to hell in a handbag.

What happens if Corbyn gets elected, can I just say he assaulted me with a cucumber and EVERYBODY should be believe me because I cried?.

If anybody doubts my story can I just shut them down with lines like "how dare you laugh at cucumber assaults".

I will admit before hearing his testimony to the committee my sympathies were with Kavanagh.

But he came across as an individual who has always had his own way in life. He whined and offered nothing other than i have been a good catholic boy and family man.

Then you read of his contribution to the Starr case , he was hell bent on destroying Pres Clinton and cared little for his part in destroying Monica Lewinsky.

So it is maybe a bit hypocritical of him to now say that his family are being destroyed by the very compelling evidence given by Prof Ford... Karma can be a bitch Brett

they are no admissable in court.... however the FBI do use them as part of their job application process, and can refuse a job offer based on them...

so in the report they will say if one was offered and whether it was refused or accepted....

apparently they are talking about the person who made the "rhode island" accusations....

they are still talking to the lawyers of the other two accusers as well as ford

I'd presume Fabio was referring to the 11 republicans voting on partizan lines.

No I've not got the hots for you, I was pointing out that polygraphs are not accurate for telling the truth only for detecting lies, it all depends on the questions she was asked while taking it, I've looked for a recording but it seems they've refused to release transcripts, audio or video.

Apologies for any offence, she was treated as the victim by the ex FBI expert who asked 2 questions concerning the allegation and on both it showed she was not lying..

I agree but it really does come down to the details of the questions asked.

Kavanaugh is not denying she was sexually assaulted, he's denying it was him, she could genuinely believe it was him but is mistaken, she can't remember the date, the place or who was there accurately, her own life long best friend denies her account of events, 36 years is a long time to mess about with anybody's memories, his as well.

This whole thing has become way too partisan for the real truth to be ever known.

I've no idea if Ford is telling the truth but I find her testimony convincing. I also spent time studying in a top American Prep School (in US private Prep Schools are the equivalent of our Eton and Harrow etc.) in the late 70's and saw for myself the attitude of self entitlement exhibited by some, especially when d*unk so I find her story believable too.

However, despite all of the above, I do not feel comfortable at the thought of someone being condemned by the uncorroborated testimony of one person. We need some evidence: without it this is nothing more than a which hunt.

Poor choice of words, what it showed that her reaction to the very specific questions was that she wasn't lying when she responded..

And yes I know they are not 100%, like dna evidence there are flaws and she could be wrong in her memory of whom with the trauma of the alleged assault..

I think the main issues are ...

PJ, Mark ford, Dr Ford, Dr Ford's best mate Leland Keyser and Brett where all allegedly in the house

The flip side is all of the above aside Dr Ford said this party/get- together - never happen

And her best mate saying "I don't even know Brett Kavanaugh, I have never ever met him"

Case Closed. We can't convict with this. Indeed based on this she should be charged with lying under oath.

He will be confirmed. His testimony was incredible and exactly as it would be if you was accused wrongly. For anyone who has not seen it, please watch both before giving opinion.

If we start to convict people based on no evidence or someone drinking beer at 16 / 17 in college then we would be in a lot of trouble.

Irony being that they are not admissible in court, but the fbi routinely used them as part of their job process, so on the report they can ask him if he wants to take one, he can accept or decline, but it will be noted

They will also check her test and confirm the results of the original

The really sad thing is the main media outlets in America have stopped actually doing journalism and just do stupid dumbed down hit jobs for I can only conclude rating sakes!.

Chris combo giving 15 minutes too two women high school attendees of Brett kavanaugh who have said the 17 year old "liked a drink" and would "pass out d*unk" but never ever saw him do anything even remotely like the allegations against him?.

Oh but Chris says, that's good enough, he testified under oath that he drank but not too excess.

Jesus h Christ no wonder CNN gets called fake news!.

They keep going on about the FBI investigation like he's never been investigated by the FBI, he's had SIX previous FBI investigations, none of which found anything remotely improper.

The democrats are really acting disgracefully in this whole episode.

Aside from Dr Ford they testified that they couldn't remember, which given the time elapsed seems a fair response. The only one to deny it with absolute certainty is Kavanaugh, hence him producing his calendars with every minutiae of life marked off.

The issue with regards to the drinking is 2 fold....

1) legal drinking age in Maryland is 21... I am sure everyone has d*unk early so that I would have let slide if not for...........

2) he painted himself out to be a saint in the confirmation hearing and especially in the Fox News interview and I am guessing it was that interview that brought half of Maryland and Yale to say “that is not the kavanagh I knew!”

The thing that worried me is that the opening statement he gave was so political I could never see him as being the slightest bit impartial which you would at least like to have the pretence he would be

The drinking issue actually doesn’t bother me that much... the fact he has lied about it, especially to the senate does!

If he had just admitted it at the beginning it would not be the issue it is now....

See.... there are so many similarities between gorsich and kavanagh

Both went to Georgetown prep

Then both went to Yale

Then both were on the dc circuit

The only difference is that one has sexual allegations over his head... the other one didn’t!

I am not a fan of gorsich but I could live with the pick....at least gorsich was honest throughout his confirmation......this one has either lied or refused to answer questions all the way through

I'm not sure when it became 21 in Maryland but I'm pretty sure when I was there 79/80 it was 21 for spirits but 18 for wine and beer. In fact we used to joke about it. It was important to know where to go where everyone who was in the group could get a drink. It was 21 for all in Pennsylvania, 21 spirits 18 the rest in Maryland, 18 for all in Virginia but no one new what it was in West Virginia because no one in West Virginia cared.

I don't think Fabio is in the running for Judge of the Supreme Court of The United States. I would expect a Judge to be impartial, or at least show a veneer of impartiality, especially one being nominated to the Supreme Court. I don't expect it from posters on a thread. In fact I expect the complete opposite. There is nothing hypocritical about expecting impartiality from a Judge while not being impartial oneself.

Yet another FBI background check on top of the six he's already had, one of which was for the White House staff secretary.

I read an interesting article the other night about a book funded by the Hollywood perv Harvey Weinstein, he paid for a shit load of private detectives to dig up dirt on anybody fighting to impeach President Clinton who had been shoving his cock in young womens faces all over the White House.

Kavanaugh was on starrs team which sought to impeach Clinton, if private detectives offering money to anybody and everybody for dirt couldn't find anything on kavanaugh back then I doubt the FBI will either.

This is a lefty witch hunt of the worst kind.

Yes I'd agree but also add they get most of the stuff like say gay marriage or abortion passed via left leaning judges who somehow foresee both these things inside a 200 year old document, it's never read that way by right leaning judges.

The difference being that both those things are not exactly mandated by a democratic vote and therefore sneaked in via the court.

It's funny, the left wing is "right" in this situation, and generally wants everyone to have the sqme freedoms and rights, and they also want the environment and nature treated right. Yet, as usual, the far right wing nuts are acting more like the fourth "Reich" by trying to circumvent known legal proceedures, to get another dirty scumbag in power to protect the dirty scumbag we have for a president from getting impeached. Even if Mr. Mueller has undeniable proof of trump committing high crimes against the US, a corrupted right wing supreme court judge could very likely stop impeachment proceedings in it's

I'm a mixed race conservative and I couldn't care less what somebody does on one knee or both, you don't have a right to protest while at work though.

The problem I have in this case is hearsay, there's a reason why we don't use it in courts,I mean that's the reason you hate Tommy Robinson right?.

If there's evidence I hope the guy gets jail time but honestly it looks like there's none and this is just a political witch hunt.

If you want to go down the line of hearsay then fine but don't complain when somebody says Jeremy Corbyn t@rtured me in a Czech stasi prison cell while sucking off Brezhnev and because you just have to take there word for it he cannot be prime minister despite being elected fairly and democratically.

I’m a Green Remainer and I think it’s quite sad that because of his Political leanings he is being castigated like this. The accusations keep getting weirder and more desperate.

If he is found to have done it may he rot.

Did anyone wonder why Mitchell kept asking about the polygraph?

Now it seems she knew all along that Dr ford had been coaching people to pass them

This circus act is well and truly over.

the FBI would have the full polygraph results and would be able to confirm/deny..... and her laywers said it was an FBI authorised officer who took the original test so actually they would be able to question him if that was the case....

also, one other thing strikes me as being odd...

she has statement that she would be happy for the FBI to do another one.... he keeps refusing to do on when offered...

if he wanting to help in any way possible to help his case and innocence.... and this was a way that would help his situation, then would you not take one?

They produce false positives at a very high rate,ie you could be telling the truth and they would indicate your lying.

However they produce false negatives much less, ie you were lying and it said you were telling the truth but and here's the crucial part, you can be taught how to beat one, the CIA do the training for it.

She had little to lose when she took the test, if she'd failed you'd never have even heard of her.

He has everything to lose from a false positive which occurs at a high rate because unfortunately an uneducated public know very little about them except what they see on Jeremy Kyle

...you imagine it easy for her to bring back the memories she’d tried to erase!? Nobody gets in a witness box to do that unless their is some truth. Given she isn’t the only person to accuse him there appears to be reasonable doubt in his complete innocence and therefore a full investigation should take place - he is after all supposed to be taking one of the most senior judicial positions in rhe US. If he was judging his own case it is likely he would ask for an investigation - seems to be a bit reticent on this.

Sufficient doubt to suggest a proper investigation though - the senate review was not a court. If he is so convinced of his innocence and a strong believer in the Judiciary then he should clear his name properly in court. As it is, he will be tarred unless he does that.

"What did he lie about?

"

Besides lying about handling stolen democratic documents for the republicans during his confirmation hearings to become a federal appeals court judge, how about the obvious lies about what he wrote in his high school yearbook?

Regardless of political affiliations you have to see that the 2 above not only rule him out for a seat on the supreme court, but rule him unfit to sit in judgement in any court.

There are plenty of other right-wing judges who are more than qualified for the seat. Why are the republicans so set on someone who clearly (from what has emerged so far) should not a judge, period? Could it be that by appointing a man they can prove to have previously broken the law on their behalf they feel they will be able to fully control? Is your unwillingness to see what is happening also part of the same partisanship that seems to have taken over right wing politics that says it does not matter what they have done if they are on our side then that's OK?

"It's funny, the left wing is "right" in this situation, and generally wants everyone to have the sqme freedoms and rights, and they also want the environment and nature treated right. Yet, as usual, the far right wing nuts are acting more like the fourth "Reich" by trying to circumvent known legal proceedures, to get another dirty scumbag in power to protect the dirty scumbag we have for a president from getting impeached. Even if Mr. Mueller has undeniable proof of trump committing high crimes against the US, a corrupted right wing supreme court judge could very likely stop impeachment proceedings in it's

tracks, and trump knows this. That's the main reason why, but not the only reason why he picked him to protect his ass.

The moment you got to calling every one you disagree with a nazi is when I stopped reading.

I wake up everyday and thank God I am not a leftist. "

No surprise that the Republicans want a loud, aggressive, white male on the Supreme Court.

I watched both testimonies and both were compelling. Sadly they stereotyped divisions in America - she was quiet apologetic, unassuming and clearly out of her depth. He was aggressive, pushy and triggered like the offended gammon that he is. His face bears the traces of the unhealthy over-consumption of alcohol and I did not see anything to make me feel that he would present a calm, measured and controlled presence as a Supreme Court Judge.

Add to that two other women have now come along with similar stories and other class mates and student friends have challenged his testimony then the amount of smoke becomes just a bit too much.

Ask yourself as a Swinger, if you were named in an Adultery or indecency charge case in Arkansas, Texas or Louisiana (you know places where our lifestyle is underground) and you ended up in the Supreme Court because of complications and challenges - would you want this guy standing over you and passing judgement? Do you trust him to be fair and impartial or do you think that he will fall back on right wing, christian moral values.

.

No I've said all along that the FBI should investigate whatever is needed to be.

Your making assumptions like alot of people on here based on feelings, "there must be some truth because what's she's done isn't easy" , frankly that's just nonsense that would get you literally nowhere in any court.

She's been proved a liar under oath several times from her "I don't like flying/can't fly" to her "Ive never coached or know anything about polygraphs".

Every single witness including her own friends deny her events or ever being at the party.

To the other claims, well two are from women who went to school with him and say he was lovely but lied because he loved a drink and drank heavily, again subjective, what he calls drinking heavily might be completely different to what they call drinking heavily, he was asked if he'd ever passed out while drinking in school and he's got loads of testimony from school and college friends who say that's true (by the way while thinking of his school drinking as ruling him out from the job, Barack Obama in his own words before he was president said, he liked to drink heavily, smoke, smoke pot, take cocaine, womanise and get in fights on the beach, I didn't hear anybody say doing that as a young kid should exclude him from the job as president as a grown man?).

The other woman who claims she was in group r@pe gangs is being investigated by the FBI for being a complete bullshitter, her ex boyfriend is on record saying she's a fruit bat and made threats to kill him and his unborn child, she's got a list of priors as long as your arm fraud to harassment.

Fords ex boyfriend of seven years completely debunks her testimony, where he states she flew all over Hawaii with him without ever mentioning a fear of flying, helped her best friend pass polygraphs for jobs and even stole his credit card and ran up bills that she denied until he threatened to take it to the fraud department?.

Not one single person can verify that these women have ever even mentioned in passing these allegations in 36 years until this month?.

The allegations are nothing but personal hearsay and apart from that he's already had six FBI investigations one of which was for the White House secretary job which probably included nuclear code knowledge, you don't think the FBI haven't already scoured everybody for that bloody job??.

You don't like the FBI and think there might be bias, well he was also on Kenneth starrs team who tried to impeach Clinton for the actual crime that was proven of sticking his dick in young girls faces all over the Whitehouse, Harvey Weinstein the Hollywood pervert paid huge amounts of money to private detectives to dig up any and all dirt on anybody who was connected to the impeachment, they couldn't find anything at all on kavanaugh back then either, they sent letters and phone calls to every single school and college friends back then saying they'll pay big money for a sworn statement of any dirt and not one person came forward including ford herself??.

The only thing they can find is that he once threw ice at somebody 34 years ago in a bar room argument.

Trump derangement syndrome(tds) is a very real mental illness that's been qualified by bonafide phycologists, liberals are literally going crazy from trumps presidency, there seems a few on here as well and like so many mental illnesses they don't actually know there ill, they see and hear things they think are real but there not.

Personally I don't like trump, I don't think he's a very nice man at all, in many ways he's quite horrible.

However I looked at the constitution of the United States and I couldn't find anything that excluded not very nice men holding the job of President and until somebody finds some actual evidence that can impeach him, we're all just going to have to get used to him being president and stop this TDS mental illness going rampant.

"They produce false positives at a very high rate,ie you could be telling the truth and they would indicate your lying.

If he was judging his own case it is likely he would ask for an investigation - seems to be a bit reticent on this..

"

There is also another mental illness that has been identified by psychologists now called Brexit anxiety disorder which Remainers suffer from and there seems to be a few on here who have both of the above conditions relating to Trump and Brexit.

Even if Mr. Mueller has

undeniable proof of trump committing high crimes

against the US, a corrupted right wing supreme

court judge could very likely stop impeachment

proceedings in it's

tracks, and trump knows this. That's the main reason why, but not the only reason why he picked him to protect his ass.

The moment you got to calling every one you disagree with a nazi is when I stopped reading.

I wake up everyday and thank God I am not a leftist. "

I didn't call everyone I disagree with a Nazi. I said certain people were "acting" more like the fourth "Reich" by what they are trying to do, which isn't the proper proceedures that are used to confirm a supreme court judge, and they know it.

I'd have to say I'm a bit more left than right, but not what I would call far left.

I'm quite sure you wake up everyday thanking God your not a leftist, most far right republicans probably do the same, but I'm also quite sure God could care less about your political affiliation. Try thanking God for the things he does care about, I'm sure you can find a few........

"Trump last Friday describes Dr ford as a very fine woman .Today he mocks a r@pe victim and the trumpanzees cheer .Sad times for the right to go so low into the sewer..

Who was r@ped? Did I miss something?

"

Open your fucking eyes. Trump stood at that lecturn and mocked women for coming forward about being sexually abused. The camera panning around to the woman holding the ‘women for trump’ sign and smiling was eerie as fuck. This lunatic is normalising so much horrendous behaviour.

Thankfully (despite the liar-in-chiefs latest tweets) support for Kavanagh and Trump amongst woman as plummeted.

There’s plenty of them on here.

No one will say too much about them, or else they end up getting blocked.
