Peter Tatchell is in Russia for the world cup. He'd be my nomination for truly deserving recognition and honour from the UK, unlike many of the sycophantic rabble who seek recognition and get it. He'd likely reject any too.

He's there in support of LGBT+ who face Putins brutal regime. FIFA are aware of this culture of violence and hatred, which shows their hollow interest in the wellbeing of these minority groups.

Former dustbin man and Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall, if you can stomach the cesspool of Twitter he makes some very down to earth and surprisingly enlightened comments

(That the FA should send an LGBT team to Russia just to piss off Putin a highlight)

He is definitely another contender, with Peter Tatchell, for the unsung real heroes of the UK. I really admire Neville Southall and wish I had but a tiny bit of his qualities.

I've been a long time admirer of Peter for his many obsessions with rights! Especially his work against the Catholic church, of course to some that makes him a bigot and a Catholophobe

He's got balls! Certainly he's braver than I am and has steadfastly persevered with important rights issues to the nth degree.

Contrast him, a self-directed man with those charity directors, often earning 6 figure bonuses, whilst staff are involved in abuse of the people they should care for - and this sort of guy will get a knighthood etc.
