Do you think that poisoner-in-chief Dacre being replaced by Greig as Daily Mail's new editor, means that things will soften in general and divisions will possibly be smoothed out?

Kent

Will certainly give him more time to spend the half a million plus he's claimed in EU subsidies for his two estates.

According to Private Eye Greig's MoS only took a contrary line to Dacre to piss him off

No.

The Mail is like canal water, although it is constantly changing it is changeless. For the last nearly 100 years it has recycled the same political message and used the same head and story lines to support Nazis, Neo-Nazis fascists and the far right and attack anything that promotes equality of opportunity and social mobility. So with that history why would anyone think the Mail might change?

Bristol East

Dacre becomes Greig's boss as head of the group, so most unlikely anything will change, especially the flow of profit offshore to avoid UK tax.

The Daily Mail campaigned for us to join the EU/EEC so you could be right

The Daily Mail was pro ecstasy until someone said e's are bad. It has always been a populist rag that pushes an ultra right wing agenda.

At the time we voted to remain in the EU this country and the world were in a financial mess caused by OPEC and the Mail saw the EU as a foil against union power.

What about The Mirror?

Central

I think it'll likely not change much - the readership figures would possibly drop, it if it didn't stoke rage and fear multiple times daily. And the owner would be unhappy if there were fewer purchases.

Its general purpose is a reflection of its billionaire owner's requirements to preserve a very right wing status quo, or revert to a mythical past when the rich had all and the rest very little. Its bastard cousin is a similar frightful beast.
