So the cabinet have agreed to stick to exactly the same tariffs as the EU to ensure no hard border in NI. I think that sounds pretty similar to staying in the customs union myself. What do Brexiters think of This arrangement?

"Ah, but it's not the same, it still leaves us free to sign all those trade deals that we will have lined up by next March!

So there, remoaner scum."

Probably something along those lines....

But any trade agreement we sign will have to agree to those same tariffs, there is literally no point in signing a trade agreement that doesn't reduce or remove tariffs.

Ok this exactly the kind of thing I allways knew would happen.

Brexiters who thought we could just walk away without having a close relationship with the EU where not thinking straight.

Sadly once out we will allways be tied to them in someways. We should never have joined and we have to live with this allways.

Like all negotiations, I expected some sort of compromise.

Anyone who goes into any negotiation for anything thinking they will get exactly what they set out to is a moron.

It's a fall back position, but it will never be used, so it doesn't matter.

A customs deal will be agreed that also avoids a hard border in Ireland, so the fall back position is irrelevant.

I find that hard to believe!
