Actually it isn’t a two party state... it is like the UK where labour and the conservatives are the 2 largest parties without then recognising the Lib Dem’s or snp or dup for example

So the dems and the pubs are the two largest.. but they also have the libertarians and the greens for example

You can also register as an independent as well without any political affiliation

Wrong question OP...

The truth is both the Republicans and the Democrat establishment are owned by Corporate America and do its bidding. Therefore the question should be Corporate or Progressive?

.

But but but but, Shirley not, you mean maybe there's a large chunk of trump voters who aren't racist scum but are just disaffected, dying earlier, paid less, worked harder, feed up and couldn't bring themselves to vote for a continuation of more of the same under Hilary rather vote an orangutan in type people????.

I mean it makes you wonder why the media narrative is ALWAYS Russia and racism for trumps victory, wait yes obviously.... Look over there, don't look at Rachel maddow and her 35,000 dollars a day pay cheque, don't look at corporate Americas earnings and CEOs pay, don't look at the highest level of inequality recorded since the Roman empire... No no no.

It's obviously Russia and racism

That would work a hell of a lot better if a massive amount of Donalds support wasnt in favour of corporations being given the power to do whatever they want even though its usually at the expense of the same fed up voters youre talking about.

Trump voters largely want small government, want less spent on social services, are against public health options and minimum wage rises. Whereas if they had higher wages, mental health services and better health access they'd be happier. Now, who supports that option? Not Trump, not Paul Ryan, not Mike Pence, not McConnell. Why its the Democrats!!

That would work if they actually voted for Hillary!

Of course they didn't, in all the key states they deserted her, probably because they saw the drop in life expectancy and massive rise in synthetic heroin pharma addiction under Obama and thought fuck that, I'll chance my arm with the orangutan.

i suppose i am the only one who can actually answer the question.... i would consider myself to be a left leaning independent... but for the last us general election I did register as a democrat so i could vote in the "democrats abroad" primary for the us president... and i voted for bernie sanders in that primary over hillary clinton...

i have donated to the obama and sanders campaigns in the past.... and I have actually voted for republicans in the past....

there are republicans i would vote for in the next general if there were up against certain democrats, but i would never vote for trump, couldn't bring myself to do it...

okay... full disclosures there.... ask away!!!!

You do realise that she won the popular vote nationally by about 3 million and that in the key states she still won a majority of the votes.

Donald won because in 3 particular states he got a COMBINED 70,000 vote advantage out of millions cast. This is not "all the key states" and this is not emblamatic of a massive abandonment of Clinton or the Democrats. Out of 129 million votes cast 70,000 sent the election to Trump because of the geography of those votes.

And whether turkeys vote for christmas or not has no bearing on whether its best for them or not.

Ha, she could even get nearly 30% of Hispanic women to vote for her, like I said I don't particularly think it was Hillary perse, they just saw her as a continuation of the last twenty five years of corporate sell out politicians.

Think of it another way, HOW BAD must it have been for poor working class people in America to make them vote trump?.

All the folks in the media just can't grasp this along with most middle class people because those last 25 years have been so good for them personally.

Most of them probably like yourself genuinely do think it was Russia and racism and to some small extent that figured, however to anybody with half a brain looking at the last 25 years of corporatism and with an undertaking of being poor and working class, we know why they won't vote Hillary and will choose an orangutan instead

If you go way back to the 1970s when footballers, pop stars, TV celebs, newsreaders even CEOs pay wasn't 10,30,80 or 250 times the average pay, when houses were affordable to somebody with a job in Tesco when debt was expensive but an education was free.... Despite it being seen as an economic basket case time, inequality was very low, people felt they could get up there if they tried hard they've had that kicked out of them under Regan Bush Clinton Bush Obama.... They didn't want another Clinton, alas the corporate democratic party rigged the primaries because they did, while an old socialist was filling football stadiums and raising 20 dollars a time with talk of reducing inequality and increasing prospects for the poor, very rich Hollywood celebs and CEOs were paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for Clinton dinners on the promise of.... Keep it going, we've loved the last 40 years

actually i think it is unfair to bring up what MSNBC may be paying Rachel maddow, because she actually is getting the highest rating on the network... and also because Fox news were paying Bill O reilly a lot more than her before he got canned for his various sexual misconduct claims... and Fox News are still paying Sean Hannity a lot more than her!!!!!

"

interesting theory dave... problem is the places that has the biggest issues are up in the north east... and the only state trump had a chance of winning up there was new hampshire... and he lost....

it was the midwest that won it for trump... the rust belt and big 10 country!!.. pennsylvania, michigan, ohio, wisconsin and minnesota all going from blue to red which had not happened in a generation!

and also remember that in the democratic primaries bernie sanders won michigan, wisconsin and minnesota and came close to winning ohio!

fact is if sanders name had been on the ballot against trump.... sanders wins!!! it wasn't a democratic issue, it was a hillary issue... and the one person in us politics who is more polarising that donald trump is hillary clinton!!!

the only person trump could have beat was clinton and the only person clinton could have beat was trump.......trump won the college, clinton won the popular vote....

any other person running against both of them would have won both......

When your earning 35,000 dollars a day it's highly unlikely you'll be critical of the last 40 years of "progress", Sean hannity, is another prime example, do you think he's going to be critical of corporatism in favour of the working class, less inequality isn't exactly big on Sean's list, it's why you saw both sides of the media attacking Sanders, CNBC (not exactly Pro trump) choose to show an empty trump podium over Sanders giving a speech to 48,000 attendees, how much bias do you need to see before you realise American networks influenced the election more than Russia.

The rich like trump or Hillary, they've backed both horses
