Remain wins the referendum

If remain had won the EU referendum and were later found to have broken laws on expenditure, not to mention having had what appeared to be separate bodies funding the campaign, even though they were essentially one and the same (thus increasing how much was being spent), what would you think the country should do next, or with any equal situation, whichever sign of the campaign broke the rules?

Farage had already said he'd still be whining on. There's no mystery about this.

Farage wouldn't shut-up, whilst there's still an opportunity for him to inflate his ego or earn money.

What if this was news today, about breaking campaign funding law over the referendum? What do you think should be done?

I saw this on twitter posted by A C Grayling: UK is member of the Venice commission. The Venice commission's Code on referenda states "In the event of a failure to abide by the statutory requirements, for instance if the cap on spending is exceeded by a significant margin, the vote must be annulled."

Haven't looked into it but, if true, makes sense for brexiteers to try and downplay it/deflect blame.

Costa Blanca Spain...

Seems like the 9 million quid that was spent by the government (so it never appeared in remains accounts) on the remain literature sent to every home has been conveniently forgotten.

Stones and glass houses anyone?

Cameron was nicknamed Mugabi during the referendum campaign as spending £9 million quid of taxpayers money on one side (Remain) to try to rig the result is something a tin pot dictator like Mugabi in Zimbabwe would have done.

Doesn't apply in this case because Leave.EU wasn't the official leave campaign. Only one Leave campaign was given official status by the electoral commission and that was Vote Leave.

Like wise the £12.5m spent by Aaron Banks' company in supporting leave.EU which has only been discovered once the company's accounts produced and features in the notes! So that's £3.5m (more) for leave! So is that Rock's and glass houses?

No spin, just stating the facts.

Well darling, it's what we are accused of and told to shut up about on a daily basis. Because while I can't stand the t covered racist fish-lizard, I would have to respect his right to drone on.

It didn't have to appear on remain's accounts, as it was spent before the campaign started proper. And given that the government position at that time was to remain, I think it was a fair move.

Whereas a student paying £600k to social media firms for vote leave was entirely above board.

So, you lot, what should happen, if this scenario were to be true? Just accept that Remain won and quietly remain in the EU, or would you seek to get the result reviewed, or something different?

But didn't you say that you didn't care about anyone other than you and your family? So are you not doing the same as them "lining your own pockets?"
