When you have a government who

doesn't care for old people

doesn't care for homeless people

doesn't care for disabled people

doesn't care for young people

doesn't care for children

doesn't care for education

doesn't care for housing

doesn't care for policing

doesn't care for safe roads

doesn't care for the NHS

doesn't care for local transport

doesn't care for young families

doesn't care for charities

doesn't care for the working classes

doesn't care for local councils

doesn't care about the poor quality rented housing in this country

doesn't care that we have the poorest wifi system in Europe

doesn't care that we have the poorest mobile phone connections in Europe

doesn't care for the enterpreuner

We have so many town centres dying of proper investment and making councils

have to charge higher rates because they cut the money from your government to provide for local services so you are paying twice for the things you cannot live without etc etc etc

Does care for the wealthy

Does care for the hierarchy

Does care for the priveledged

Does care for private education

Does care for non taxing paying

companies

Does care for Londons wealthy areas

etc etc etc

and what amazes me for one is that many working class people vote for them and last time they said that it was because the country was in debt and it was terrible to be so, so what difference does the country being in debt by a few billion pounds more when borrowing money is at its lowest, the reason for this money strategy is not about debt but about getting rid of the social security that people need to live on because of the lack of investment and education and lack of training for our young not so well offs

lets hope the people of this country finally see sense and get rid of this lot once and for all

Burton-on-Trent

Don't think there's one solution to that.

But a start would be stopping people being able to pay for access to government ministers. Closing the revolving door between government and business.

Centrally funding parties, and member funding party conferences rather than having meetings sponsored by interested businesses.

Large restrictions on lobbying.

"And dont you think the same could be said if Labour where in power !!!!!!"

I concede it may be.

However there is a big difference between the Labour and Tory parties:

If we found ourselves in the same situation under Labour it would be caused by either outside forces beyond the governments control or by error (we all make mistakes at times), but with the Tories we find ourselves in this position because it is the policy they have been pursuing for 40 years! No mistakes, no errors, just the result of deliberate government economic and social policy.

That you seem (by your very post) to be unable to grasp that there is no difference between todays Tories and the ones that introduced the poll tax and destroyed our industrial and manufacturing base in the midlands and north leading to massive civil unrest in the early 80s, the riots of 81 and the national coal strike of 84, says much.

But let me help you, what the Tories did to the industry of the midlands and north while protecting the economy of the south east (their core supporters territory) in the 80s they have now been doing to the physical and social infrastructure of country for the last 8 years.

We all have a choice in 10 days time we can vote for change and remove Tories across the country or we can vote for more of the same.

Personally I would rather my politicians harmed the majority of the population through making mistakes than doing so by deliberate acts driven my ideology and malice.

Unfortunately I think the UK political system is out of date for a modern democracy and neither Labour or Conservative want to change it as the system favours both of them!

Tories & Labour alike look after themselves first. As soon as they are elected they have joined the gravy train and want to stay on it for as long as possible. Fuck the country - and most do it's all about them, greed takes over sadly.

Some good points op. The conservative strategy for reducing the state, disproportionately damaging and negatively impacting those who are worse off, is a clear ideology that many seem either unaware of or complicit in.

Will PR fix it?

Voting for the EU Parliament is done on a PR basis yet there is still lobbying, corporate bungs and revolving door between MEPs/European Commission and businesses.

What we need are honest politicians. Unfortunately these are few and far between!

As a ukip supporter I'm all in favour of a proportional representation voting system. Ukip would've got over 80 MP's in the 2016 General election and we would've had a Tory/Ukip coalition rather than a David Cameron majority Tory government.

"Unfortunately I think the UK political system is out of date for a modern democracy and neither Labour or Conservative want to change it as the system favours both of them!

Tories & Labour alike look after themselves first. As soon as they are elected they have joined the gravy train and want to stay on it for as long as possible. Fuck the country - and most do it's all about them, greed takes over sadly. .

Welcome, you've woken from your government induced coma like state.

Here sit down, you might feel funny until the feelings come back

So what's your solution? .I haven't got any solutions for you and more importantly even if they exist you should stop looking for them! Because in the end it doesn't really matter.

So we let the status quo carry on! No wonder the country is going down the pan because we stick to the old ways. Just because "we have always done it like that" - doesn't mean it's right or the best way!.

The system is way too big and intertwined to be changed now, we fiddle around with income tax by tuppence as if it makes any fucking difference!.

The changes required are beyond political ability

The Revolution will be forced upon us by mother nature . .

It's just sad that we just leave things till they break down and then ask,"how did it come to this""

The Romans probably said the same as they watched their empire crumble to dust.We have a knack as a species not seeing what's right infront of us til it's to late.

I blame the fact that our political and state institutions can't keep up with the pace of our scientific and technological advances. Its probably the true explanation for the Fermi paradox.

Ooh I think all the lines are converging in the very near future.

It will be a combined attack of monetary, debt, societal, energy, population, food, resources and technology.. The infamous climate change hockey stick graph funnily enough is pretty much replicated on any of the above, theres a certain something "Gaia" to it all

"

And the solution to all the above is..."

Pretty simple really

Stop funding the military industrial complex, make multinationals pay the 'proper' tax due and stop allowing the elite to keep their money tax free off shore

Seems like loads of complaining here with little or no thought being put into how to make things better.

Of the two solutions to our problems put forward on this thread (a dictator or Jezza, Saviour of the many) I find neither particularly appealing; although I'd accept Jezza if he ever actually wins a General Election.

We get the politicians and leaders we deserve, after all we vote for them. This whole argument; that "they're all the same", "they're all in it for themselves" and "they're all a bunch of crooks" when clearly all 650 MPs and 1,000s of elected councilors across the nation are not "all the same", "in it for themselves" or "all crooks"; is garden fertilizer.

This is lazy politics and is the reason why we're in the mess we're in; because YOU can't be arsed to get of your collective fat arses, find out what the differens is between them all, who is and isn't a crook or in it for themselves. You can't be arsed to get up and argue, fight and campaign for what think and believe to be right and would rather just sit down and wing about how awful everything and do nothing about it.

Like I said, we get the politicians and leaders we deserve. If YOU want something different then get off your arse and do something about it. Join a campaign, better still start one. Find out who your local MP and councilor is, what they stands for and whether they do their job, better still stand for election yourself. It's easy to complain, it takes effort to do something about but YOU can, if you really care.

This is not specially directed at the OP.

if you read what i actually said was that i could not believe the british people have changed so much over the last 40 years from a people who worked hard but wanted fairness in the country to one who thinks money is god, labels on goods to show where you stand in society are worn like medals, that we persecute our poorer weaker fragile people just to save money, and are destroying the things that Britain was proud of and are now kidding everyone into thinking the rest of the world still looking to trade with us because our products are superior to other nations, they are only looking to trade with the cheapest and what that means is the lowest waged society, guess who is going to suffer when the companies say we have to reduce our costs to compete ( the wealthy ????) i do not think so

I'm not going to argue with someone who puts such a cute, sexy arse on their public profile pics.
