Two 38 year old scum bags break into a pioneers house to loot it, Pensioner calls police, but the police take so long to get there that a fight breaks out, one of the thieves force the pensioner into the kitchen where continued fighting takes place whilst the other thief makes his way upstairs to loot bedrooms where the pensioners wife is.

The pensioner defends himself whilst he fears what may happen to his wife upstairs, he used a knife in kitchen to defend himself as the attacker had a screwdriver, the pensioner is now charged with murder.

.

you cannot make this up, unbelievable.

.

A 78-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a suspected burglar was stabbed to death.

.

The homeowner discovered two intruders in Further Green Road, Hither Green, south-east London, at about 00:45 BST.

.

One suspect, armed with a screwdriver, forced the man into his kitchen where a struggle ensued and he was stabbed, Scotland Yard said.

.

The 38-year-old was taken to hospital by paramedics but was pronounced dead at 03:40.

.

The pensioner, who suffered bruising to his arms, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

.

This Pensioner should be given a medal, not charged with murder

He remains in custody at a south London police station

Grantham

It's standard police procedure. The police will make their inquiries and then decide to charge him, bail him pending further inquiries or let him go free.

So has he now been charged? Your post is a bit confusing, all the articles I've seen only say arrested. I don't think he should be charged, and it will be a disgrace if he is, however arrested I think is just standard protocol in any instance like this.

Must be horrible feeling after being attacked in your own home to then be attested for defending yourself
