seems your water is in low supply

.

seems its running out

.

even when taps are turned off its still running out of fractured pipes

.

perhaps London is not so well equipped as it makes out to be.

.

still, you always have the river Thames and a bucket

Why do you want to revel in the misfortune of others?

Put the boot on the other foot - some calamity in Scotland and people in the south mocking you - and ask how that makes you feel?

revel!

surely your water companies should be re-investing in infrastructure rather than turning a profit for share holders

as for calamity in Scotland, its surprising Londoners actually know where Scotland is! just a point on a weather map for them.

It was on the radio yesterday with you all saying that's all the snow gone from all locations, some of your London presenters have no fucking idea

You are quite a bitter chap aren't you? Not that it ever shows in your posts

What you could have written is:

"I have learned [from some unspecified source] that London is running low on water.

Is this a threat to the city despite it wealth? Is there a solution and should a solution include state subsidy?"

The answer is for the water companies to stop the 20% of leaks. No profit or dividends until basic service standards are reached. The same for all utilities and the trains.

The actual story being reported is that pipes have burst following the cold weather.

You are misunderstandings, misrepresenting and reporting a half heard and half understood story.

a few water leaks lol,

.

here are some comments from locals;

.

48 hours without a proper wash now and no clean shirts for work tomorrow! Worst customer services I have experienced in a long time! When do you expect IG7 to have water fully restored!

.

There’s no water in north London and Thames water is handing out bottles like it’s a 3rd world country

.

So Thames Water why can't you acknowledge that SW17 has had no water since Saturday night

.

We are still working hard to restore water supplies to

around 5000 customers around Sittingbourne in Kent. Please help us to help you by only using the water you absolutely must. Thank you for your patience

.

Due to this ongoing issue, we will have to be closed tomorrow, Mon 5 March. Very sorry for such short notice. We’d hoped things would have been resolved by now. No water on either site means we can’t open the school. We will update families when we can

.

SW12 Balham still nothing coming out of the taps this morning. Help please, no water since Saturday 8pm. I'm on Bedford Hill SW12 9HH . Thanks

.

update is the five blocks of flats with 18 in each where I live have also had no water since late on Friday with no support of delivery of water - disgusting lack of help!!!

What is even more bizarre is why someone from Kinross is telling someone from Bristol that 'your water companies should be re-investing', in relation to a thread about London.

And then you throw in some random comment about Wales.

You really are geographically challenged aren't you?

Op the recent bad weather presented many problems all over the country and still ongoing for some..

Is your life so sad that you think it OK to mock others plight, regardless of where they are?

Surely you could drive to a dairy farm and laugh at the farmers who are having to dump milk, or mock some of your local nurses and others who worked extra shifts to cover staff shortages..?

Oh the hilarity eh..

Yep, you really are no different from these British nationalists - continually trying to assert your superiority to that lot over there, usually in the most patronising and offensive terms imaginable.

Threads like this make me embarrassed to be Scottish.

Em let me see?

An Army Chinook has been flying in supplies to cut-off Cumbrian communities

The industry regulator Ofwat has criticised water firms for ignoring warnings to improve planning

Several schools in London and Kent have said they will be closed on Monday because they cannot guarantee running water

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said it was "unacceptable" that thousands of homes in the capital still lacked supply, adding: "I have sought assurances from Thames Water that they are doing everything possible to fix the problems

The Government's water industry regulator Ofwat has released a statement criticising the water companies

Rachel Fletcher, chief executive of Ofwat, said: "Water companies have been warned time and again that they need to be better at planning ahead to deal with these sorts of situations, including proactively communicating with customers when they anticipate issues

In London, customers said they could not register outages as the helpline was unavailable, while shops reportedly ran out of bottled water in some areas

What point are you making?

You started off saying that London was some sort of disaster zone and that you were happy about it for some reason.

Having been called out as a mean spirited hater are you now saying that there is a problem with the privatised utility companies not investing adequately?

OP you seem to have a blinkered view that the only effects have been the water supply in the south east and people cut off in Cumbria, the economic impact is countrywide and the effects to people lives has been equally in Scotland as elsewhere..

Birmingham

I'm in Birmingham and have had no water for a few days now.

I am not sure that a nationalised company or a private one can be held entirely responsible for the thaw which has led to the leaks.

I know people who work for our local company Severn Trent who have worked tirelessly all day and in some circumstances until 3am to try and fix the problem.

Severn Trent and its army of volunteers have also been stood out in the cold from 8am until 10pm distributing bottled water. They are again today.

We are being encouraged to keep an eye out for older people and the vulnerable. I fetched water for a neighbour who has limited mobility. This warms my heart.

In a world where people die everyday from lack of or unclean water I am sure I can cope for a few days without it. Its a nuisance rather than a disaster.

Sad that your water companies are paying far to much to shareholders and not putting enough into infrastructure, monitoring corrosion, replacing corroded pipes and even communication with customers & councillors.

New pipes are designed to resist cracking at low temperature, corrosion should be monitored

.

Schools are closing, reservoirs are depleting due to continuously leaking pipes, both in summer winter, people & homes without water, £18 billion paid out to share holders which comes from customer bills, looks like water companies are sticking up middle finger to customers, Thames water in particular.
