Have at it.

We now have a fully formed spectrum of options in regards to brexit.

Anyone and everyone, opinions?

It's one of the things about liberals that they have a range of views which makes them end up looking decided. They also try to make complex arguments.

The right are disciplined (read uninventive/unimaginative?) so look "strong" repeating phrases with conviction.

Another liberal voice will probably not make a big difference. That said UKIP did force the country to this point.

Perhaps the Leavers should be scared?

Reminds me of that Bertrand Russell quote.

"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts ."

Sums up much in life today.

Its something I touched on just after the referendum....was there now a place in politics for a new pro-European centrist party?

I saw the coverage of their appearence in Mansfield this week; not lost on most as being a very pro-Brexit town. I think they were viewed as more of an oddity rather than anything meaningful...at the moment.

Their support for the UK population to vote in addition to MP's on the UK's negotiated deal with the UK is an important element of UK sovereignty. No sane person would 100% accept something without the terms being known, so once they are, the UK should fully reject or accept it. It should not solely be left to the representatives of the people, at that point, many of whom cannot be trusted to tell the truth, or not have ulterior motives to sustain themselves or their party.

It's a complex issue and perhaps why the conservatives have taken almost 2 years since the referendum to state their requirements. They may also be doing this, stalling for time to ensure that there is insufficient time for the public to be consulted.

I thought brexit was all about a quest for sovereignty

A group who don't want to be force fed decisions by the EU now want to be the force-feeders.

LOL

I actually think that if - a big if, this party gets public attention it could be direct anti-brexit pressure. Instead of people just picking apart the two main parties on which MP said what and when, there is now a potential party, with good, centrist policies which is willing to take the heat.

Time to stop pitching the Lib dems as trying to get a second referendum now.

I'd like the Greens to have greater prominence in the UK's politics - it's a pity that they suffer in many ways from the voting system.

i think that the most interesting thing today is that labour have confirmed that in the next set of eu withdrawl bill votes, they will vote to stay within a customs union

with is going to bind May and the hardliners in a corner, because we know there are enough tory remainers that will vote with them for that proposal to win.....

it would only take 5 to switch if everyone voted... we know there are at least 15-20 that will.... kenneth clark will, heidi allen will, nicky morgan will, anna soubrey will... and there are other fairly high profile people that have been consistant throughout.....

the daily mail are going to lose their shit!!!!

It's interesting Fabio, as already this single move puts them, with SNP etc, on course to force the government to potentially stifle their extremist hardcore bunch, which will not go down well Plus Labour are likely to consolidate their position over coming weeks, making it tougher for the swivel eyed brigade

More wishful thinking and clutching at straws from you Fabio. Brexit backing Labour MP Frank Field wrote a newspaper article today warning Corbyn about the consequences of staying in the customs union. If Labour back staying in the customs union it would be electoral suicide for Labour, according to Frank Field millions of traditional working class Labour voters in the Midlands, the North and in Wales who voted for Brexit will dessert the Labour party if they take this stance. The Labour leave electorate will take revenge at the ballot box.

You're also forgetting Labour has its own rebels who will vote with the government on Brexit, Kate Hoey, Frank Field, John Mann, Dennis Skinner and others will cancel out the likes of Anna Soubry, Nicky Morgan and Ken Clarke.

It's also reported in today's papers Theresa May is going to call the Tory Remainers bluff by taking us out of the single market and the customs union, maybe swivel eyed loons like Ken Clarke and Anna Soubry will risk rebelling and bringing down the government, the vast majority of tories won't! Given the choice of going with Theresa May and backing her plan or rebelling and bringing down the government to open the door to number 10 to Corbyn, tories will back Theresa May all day loooooooonnnnggggggg!

I hadn't realised that leaving the customs union was on the referendum paper.

Just wondering which one of these quotes is false?

Absolutely nobody is talking about threatening our place in the Single Market

Daniel Hannan MEP

Only a madman would actually leave the Market

Owen Paterson MP

Wouldn't it be terrible if we were really like Norway and Switzerland? Really? They're rich. They're happy. They're self-governing

Nigel Farage, Ukip leader

The Norwegian option, the EEA option, I think that it might be initally attractive for some business people

Matthew Elliot, Vote Leave chief executive

Increasingly, the Norway option looks the best for the UK

Really??? Your quotes are false at worst or misrepresenting at best because they are not the full quotes. CLCC tried this exact same Bullshit months ago on here with these same 'quotes' and this bullshit comes from the Open Britain remain organisation. Only thing is the quotes you just used have been taken completely out of context and you haven't used the FULL quotes. You're attempting to misrepresent what those people were saying by only quoting part of what they said. Andrew Neil completely debunked these quotes and destroyed the leader of Open Britain James McGrory on the BBC Sunday politics programme, here is the youtube link to the interview, i suggest everyone watches it in full to see how utterly deceitful Easy is trying to be by using these quotes.....

www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHzmCHcM7cA

Vote Leave was the OFFICIAL Leave campaign group and said we should leave both the single market and the customs union. The only way to end free movement from the EU is to leave the single market and the only way to strike our own trade deals around the world is to leave the customs union, these are the arguments upon which people decided which way to vote during the referendum and were key points of the official vote Leave campaign.

The Nigel Farage quote you used dates back to 2011, way before there was any possibility of a referendum and if you look at the full quote in the youtube link he says we should only use a Norway/Swiss type deal in the EEA as a TRANSITION to fully leaving.

The Daniel Hannan quote was also said before the referendum campaign started.

Owen Patterson again went on to say if you use the full quote, Only a madman would leave the market, but we will go on trading with the EU after we've left.

Matthew Elliot, The EEA is attractive to business, (but then goes on to say) but is unattractive to voters because it includes free movement of people.

You harp on and on about others putting things into context and using complex arguments rather than using simple phrases, then you go an come out with this bullshit. CLCC hasn't used these quotes again since the last time i posted the youtube link to Andrew Neil's interview, i doubt you will be using these quotes again in future.

My dude, I literally attended the leave event in the run up to the referendum where Daniel Hannan laid out the Norway plus swiss model as a permanent or 1-2 government cycles option.

His argument for these models nearly got my vote.

You are correct. They are not false but there is more to the quotes.I took those in you'd faith but will not volunteer them again as definitive statements.

However, the overall trend of the Leave message was to give the impression that retaining membership of the EEA is easy and an improved deal from there would also be easy.

Perhaps I'm the only one who got that impression but that still appears to be the government line...

To continue to declare what the "official" Leave campaign said as if the "unofficial" one had no influence is disingenuous don't you think. Especially considering Farage was the "unofficial" spokesman.

Regardless, are Norway or Switzerland in the EU.
