My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school

It's all in the title! If they can't regulate it as a nation, then it's their own fault! Yes one feels for the victim's and families but they have to live with and take the responsibility of doing nothing!

Who cares its the 18th school shooting the year.

The NRA will be soon saying guns dont kill people.People kill people.If Florida had the death penalty maybe this wouldn't happen...oops they do.

Maybe if they had open carry on weapons it wouldn't of happened .Seems the right to carry concealed weapons didn't help the children.

More guns less body bags...Then again it's Collateral for the right to bear arms.Its the American way.Nobody cares .It will be forgotten tomorrow.

Very sad news and an area that I know as being the epitome of a peaceful Florida suburb.

Shame that Mr Obama was so fiercely opposed by Republicans in his attempts to introduce more stringent gun controls.

We will never know had been successful, how many lives might have been saved? Might even these 17 have been saved? Or half of them, or some of them if the ban on AR-15 weapons had been supported? It would have taken more time and more accuracy to kill so many people with just a hand gun.

Shame on those American politicians that resist gun control.

And as if to prove the point that your interest in anything American started with Donald Trump - QED.

Gun control efforts have always followed party lines - but you need to have been paying attention for more than the last two years.

Someone tweeted yesterday...

One man tried (and failed) to blow up an aeroplane with a shoe bomb. Now, we all take our shoes off. Since then, 1520 mass shootings in the US and.... nothing.

Every year in the United States approximately 1,200 children are killed or injured by the accidental discharge of a firarm. Had that firearm not been in the home, the accidental discharge would never have happened and thousands of kids would not be maimed or dead.

Of course he neatly forgot to mention that in in first days in office he reversed Obama's ban on the sale of firearms to those with mental illnesses.

Prayers and condolences don't bring those people back. I cannot do anything about preventing it happening again.

American's can.

However it would appear that the majority of the U.S. legislature and its President do not care.

If they did care then some form of legislation would be introduced. Perhaps even an amendment to the Constitution. That's stupid though. That's never, ever happened before has it?

There are people in America, who have never been convicted of a crime, but are deemed so dangerous, that they can't board a aeroplane. Even if they were swabbed, searched, wanded, metal detector, sniffer dog checked etc. They are still too dangerous to get onto a plane protected by armed air marshals.

Some have suggested that if that is the case, perhaps they shouldn't be allowed to purchase firearms. The gun lobby is against this change, so they are free to purchase as many as they like.
