Scottish fleg vs Union fleg = no English pride

Scottish customers prefer to see the Saltire on Scottish produce. However, English customers prefer to see the Union flag on produce. Because of this, the Union flag is used for all produce.

Some people in England must really hate Scotland with a passion and at the same time have no pride in their own country to see the St Georges flag on English produce

The problem for some in England is they believe the empire is still alive and England should rule the world no thanks we in Scotland dont want dictators we want neighbours

I moved from Scotland to England six years ago and I do see quite a few St George cross flags flying, especially from the top of churches.

The milk I buy in the supermarket sometimes comes with a St George cross label.

Some people have the St George cross flying outside their homes.

Public buildings tend to fly the Union flag.

I suppose it depends whether your primary allegiance is to England or the UK.

Six and two threes as far as I'm concerned.

I remember when Tesco removed the Scottish flag from strawberries after customers in England complained over the packaging design

Its the same with Scottish money i went down to London to stay in a hotel and used Scottish Stirling to pay and the woman looked at the money funny and was ready to refuse it

Where here in Scotland no body gives a fuck about using English bank notes

There's no such thing as an English banknote.

Scottish and Irish banknotes are only Legal Currency and not Legal Tender.

Any retailer etc is quite within their legal rights to refuse Scottish and Irish banknotes.

I'm sure you were educated on these points many months ago. Maybe you just forgot.

Bristol East

The currency is Sterling.

Several banks issue notes.

The central bank is the Bank of England.

The difference between the Euro and Sterling is monetary policy (may be the wrong term) - it works in the GB union because it is singular; it is retained by the states of the Euro.

That said the biggest bail-out of any central bank in Europe after the crash was the Bank of England’s “quantitative easing”.

and therein lies your answer, some..

some English don't like the Scots, some Scots don't like the English..

substitute Welsh, Irish, French etc etc and its just how it is..

your jump to 'hate' is based on what?

Your own inflammatory mindset or over reaction..

get over it, its not a big deal..

Which bit of it depends on what part of the country you are in do you not understand.

It is individual people that are not used to seeing Scottish notes not a policy by companies !!!

They are not refused in Blackpool as the place would have shut years ago

"OP you were the one and i think the only one so far that has said 'hate'..

you seem determined to antagonise and stir up division's where there is only a difference of opinions..

no one else seems to have such issue's, bored much or dare i say it the chip on your shoulder is weighing you down?

Yeah i said " some" in England seem to hate the fact the Scottish flag is on Scottish produce is that not true ? If not why are " some complaining about it then ?

and therein lies your answer, some..

some English don't like the Scots, some Scots don't like the English..

substitute Welsh, Irish, French etc etc and its just how it is..

your jump to 'hate' is based on what?

Your own inflammatory mindset or over reaction..

get over it, its not a big deal..

I am typing this in a bar in Bristol with a sign on the wall - “No £50 notes or Scottish notes accepted due to forgeries”

I return to Scotland once a month or more and, this sign apart, I never encounter any problem getting rid of notes obtained from a Scottish cash machine.

That said, I try to avoid machines stocked with Clydesdale notes - they do look funny.

I have to ask, do you wake up every day and go looking for anti Scottish stories to get enraged about, no matter how tenuous?

I think I mentioned it before but google Barney Farmer/The Male Online. You are the Scottish version of this.

It's quite sad. No-one hates Scotland. You are manufacturing devision where none exists.

Jesus, I've just done a quick Google on this. It's a story from Summer last year regarding Tesco, which they backtracked on in October.

Basically it was the English versions of Kinky complaining on Tesco's social media what caused it. So nationalists on both sides are dicks, who knew?

Ignorance of the situation regarding them. Most shop assistants aren't very well trained and on minimum wage. If they accept a note that they've never seen before, which turns out to not be legal then it might come out of their wages.

Nothing to do with being anti Scottish.

I think the co-op decided to pull all foreign meat and only buy British. No more danish bacon.

Im sure plenty of brexiters choose not to eat foreign meat.I guess if Scotland left the union they'd consider Aberdeen Angus foreign food..

Scottish notes are also not as prevalent in England, as English ones in Scotland, which is purely because of population numbers. So poorly trained and minimum waged shop assistants probably won't often see one, if at all.

But I've provided you with rational explanations and you are still not happy, preferring instead to whine and continue your crusade against slights which just don't exist.

Big difference again

Tunnocks and Whisky both Scottish products we can agree there ? So why put the union butcher apron on these Scottish products ?

Why are you soo keen to get rid of the Scottish flag on Scottish made products ? Are you that ashamed of Scotland ?

The big difference is there is " some" in Enland wanting to remove the Scottish flag from Scottish products why ?

When did you see a Scottish nationalist say they want to see all English flags removed from English made products eh ? I think the English flag should be on English products

"I am typing this in a bar in Bristol with a sign on the wall - “No £50 notes or Scottish notes accepted due to forgeries”

I return to Scotland once a month or more and, this sign apart, I never encounter any problem getting rid of notes obtained from a Scottish cash machine.

That said, I try to avoid machines stocked with Clydesdale notes - they do look funny.

And this is the one great UK that wont accept Scottish notes lol

The not accepting Scottish notes due to forgeries is made up bullshit they just dont wanna accept Scottish notes too dirty and looked down on to accept it

Where up in Scotland i walk into a shop and get given an English note i accept and couldnt care less

Ha ha Scottish notes are too dirty and looked down

Ha ha you are a sad person you need to take a long hard look at yourself kinks

You really are clutching now arent you

The only hating going on here is from you

Ok so why do you think Scottish notes are not being accepted in English shops ? Do you believe its all because it looks fake ? Thats the only reason wh wake the hell up lol

Ignorance of the situation regarding them. Most shop assistants aren't very well trained and on minimum wage. If they accept a note that they've never seen before, which turns out to not be legal then it might come out of their wages.

Nothing to do with being anti Scottish.

Then shows you that companies in England must be piss poor and training people up.

I know what English notes look like its not that hard its excuses really they should be well educated to know what bank notes look like from all countries in the UK

Yes but they aren't educated, as that costs time and money. So you're happy that it's fuck all to do with anti scottishness now?

Then their in the wrong job if they cant tell the fucking difference they dont seem to have a problem with English notes and the Scottish notes are not that hard to read so weak ass excuses

I like Scotland. I lived there. You're making me like it less.

Wow again shite excuses so now its down to

population So Scottish people dont go down to England all year round every year ? So you telling me year after year no one in England that works in shops picks up what a Scottish note looks like ? Come on we are not that daft

Ah right so cause of little old me you are less liking Scotland and more anti Scottish wow lol

So fucking sorry for even speaking eh next time i will shut the fuck up eh being gaggled seems to be the way things work on here if you dont agree with what i say here is something to think about dont reply if you are rattled that much claim doon get a hot chocolate in you lol

Are you serious about shutting up ??

Please feel free to do so as you don't respond when people give you reasonable answers the the questions you pose !!!"

Central

Product producers can become experts in their markets by understanding their customers. I'm assuming a little forum thread isn't going to reflect on that and I'm certainly not an expert in that field.

Please feel free to do so as you don't respond when people give you reasonable answers the the questions you pose !!!

Oops sorry being gagged on my own thread lol

If your that rattled why comment ? I aint forcing you

What Scottish goods had the Saltaire removed?

I haven't heard this one. I get porridge with the saltaire it on the packet.

If kinky is referring to foodstuffs e.g cornish pasties then it would look weird

As for notes, i had my Scottish pound coin refused by a woman in a cardiff cafe while buying a coffee.

Some people are arsehole shocker!

Scottish strawberries and milk

I know shocker in this so called UK Scottish money is actually being refused lol

There is no Scottish pound coin lol

Uk coin with a regionally represented one with a thistle on it then lol.

Ok so it was not a Scottish pound coin ? Nice try lol

Ive seen a Scottish penny. Oval shaped from 2 scots fighting over it lol

But no Scottish pound coin exist correct? So it was the UK pound coin which it should not have been refused correct?

Someone been caught out telling porkies hehe "

Yes kinky, no bank of Scotland, but do you accept there's a pound coin with a thistle on it, which represents Scotland?

Do ya deny that? Haha gotchya!!

Non now, don't snap ya spurtle, i would say ignorance of Scottish pride in their produce. Im fairly sure it wasn't out of malice.

Those foodstuffs are generic rather than being attributable to a region or country, but they're fixing it and lessons learnt, so all's well that wnds well isn't it

Is Barrs Irn Bru a 100% Scottish product?

I used to deliver sugar (from English grown sugar beet) from Peterborough to AG Barrs in Cumbernauld. The ingredients for this iconic 'Scottish' product were not from just from Scotland.

I used to deliver sugar (from English grown sugar beet) from Peterborough to AG Barrs in Cumbernauld. The ingredients for this iconic 'Scottish' product were not from just from Scotland."

Am sorry which country is Irn Bru made again ? Lol

Am not talking aboot English Iron Brew btw lol not being nasty but that cheap verison is pish

Mind you the new Irn Bru taste is shite the now watered down diet Irn Bru pish

I can see them doing what Coke Cola did and going back to classic Coke when Barrs feels the pinch

"Come on humor me name all the exports that are made in England and exported to Scotland ?

I didnt think it would be that hard lol

Ok I will answer again !!!

Nothing is exported between Scotland and England because we are in a union !!

Cars

Vans

Eccles cakes

butter

whisky

Wine

Beer

Condoms

Clothing

Shoes

Steel

Glass

FUCK this is boring !!!

English cars ? Which car company ?

English vans ? Which van company ?

English whisky ?

Buckie i give you that one though an independent England would surive on just buckie and wee cakes

All these things are manufactured in England that is what you asked for !!!

England does not soley survive on what it sells tarriff free in Scotland! !

England made ? Which company that is English makes cars ? BMW oh nope that German try again

AGAIN

you asked for goods manufactured in England what difference who owns the company it is made in England and sold in Scotland !!

It means quite alot

Scottish whisky

Barrs Irn Bru

Scottish beef

Scottish Spring water

Wall made in Scotland by Scottish companies and Scottish meat and water

What is it that England make from English made things that gets exported to Scotland again ?

Buckie and wee cakes is nit much to go on sorry but true ever wondered why Westminster see Scotland as a cash cow ?

Westminster need Scotland more than we need them

So you think they source one sugar beet for the Scottish version, and one sugar beet for the English version?

I didn't realise that England got a "cheap" version, it hardly seems just that a Scottish company would sell their product at a higher price point to their Scottish customers than their English customers. I'm surprised that you are not upset about that.

"Imagine kinky : all us nasty Scottish hating English, unwittingly buying Scottish goods and making Scottish farmers rich.

Again " all" i see what your doing not working

So i say again " Some" English people seem to have a problem seeing the Scottish flag on Scottish produce in English stores go figure

Kinky, let's say you needed to buy butter, there was only 1 brand in the shop, and it had 2 different types of packaging. One came in branding packing with a St George's Cross on it, and the other had no flag at all on it. Which would you pick up?

I am not a fan of butter

But to answer your question me i dont care but the fact remains their is " some people " in England that tried to remove Scottish flags from Scotland produce how sad eh ?

Which would you pick up, be honest now.

None i dont like butter

Oh glad we agree the saltire should not be removed, now then, your neighbour is full of cold, and asks you to buy some butter for them.. Your at the shelf and your hand reaches out

Kinky clearly doesn't have the balls to answer this question. Or many other questions for that matter. "

Glad im not her neighbour, esp. One with no fookin butter lol

But there isn't a cheap one and an expensive one

If they had asked for butter and Irn Bru, would you buy them the cheap English version, or the more expensive Scottish version?

Hahaha, yet again another question kinky can't answer!

I'm no expert on Irn Bru, not personally a fan, but I assume Kinky knows more about it that I do. Kinky thought that the sugar from Peterborough up to Scotland mentioned by the other poster, was used to create the cheaper, English version of the beverage. I wonder, does that mean that the more expensive, Scottish version, is made in their Nottingham plant?

Ayrshire

Scottish whisky

The closures made in the North of England.

(All cork from Iberian peninsula.)

The labels printed in Wales.

The glass made in Northern Ireland.

A great British Product.

I have worked in the whisky industry, the biggest Scotch bottling plant.

It produces over 30% of the worlds Scotch whisky, and I know that suppliers come from far and wide, not exclusively from Scotland.
