"we need immigrants to come here, so why wouldn't they be allowed to settle ??" They will still be able to do that. This is all about setting a cut off date for residency rights.

"As I understand the position, if the transition period means remaining in the single market then it means accepting the four indivisible freedoms that go with it - goods, capital, people and services. The EU has been crystal clear from day one about this - you cannot pick and choose which elements of the single market you want to adhere to. May is between a rock and a hard place - trying to appease the rabid British nationalists in her own party and the tabloid media; and limiting the damage to the UK economy. Her stance might make for a good headline on the front of today's Express. But I suspect that's all she'll get out of her posturing. " This. ![]()

"we need immigrants to come here, so why wouldn't they be allowed to settle ?? why is that, I can employ someone from the UK to plough my land, cut my grass, clean my house if needed" Certain industries have tried and they have found that people from the EU are better for many reasons than some already in this country..

All im saying is though for services such as this a british citizen will allow themselves to be undercut competition wise as they have to ensure they can pay bills, tax ect and save. Less immigration wont change their price, it might just give a monopoly to those who do stay to run their services

" You saw it with the conflicts in the balkans too. All you have to do is change peoples in/out group preferences and suddenly the brian's neurocircuitry changes very quickly to turn a blind eye to suffering inflicted upon the percieved out group. Brexit and Trump are not about in out groups but theyve certainly lent individuals a cover to pick them open

The Bahamas, Caribbean is also warm all year round is a great place to retire to. ![]() Not many pensioners will be able to afford year round health insurance to live outside of the EU. The great attraction of retiring in the EU was health coverage in the years when it was needed most.

"NO DEAL FOR EU MIGRANTS POST BREXIT ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Missing the point Centaur. The reason retirees from this country have gone to the likes of Spain etc, is because of free movement, easy travel back to the UK and a reasonably strong pound. No-one wants to permanently retire to a country where they have to emigrate fully and their money is worth less. Brexit has scuppered an easy retirement for many current and future retirees. But we will all be working til we are 70 soon anyway to pay for it, so the effects are further off for most.

"So the Maybot agrees to settle the issue of EU citizen rights at the last moment so that the EU will agree to move from phase 1 of brexit talks to phase 2. Now barely 2 months on she is reneging on that agreement. Anyone like to guess what the EU reaction will be to this? I'll put my money on something like this: Jean-Claude Juncker 'It was a condition of moving on to trade negotiations that this issue be settled, the EU believed it had been, clearly we were incorrect. Therefore there can be no further trade negotiations until this matter is settled to the EU's satisfaction. Considering Mrs May's record of breaking promises that means there will be no further talks until EU citizens rights are totally protected in UK law.' Now I doubt this will be said in public unless the maybot keeps pushing because like all Tories, it is party before country, while wrapping themselves in the flag and shilling that the left and Labour that place party and ideology above all. The burning question is how many of the electorate will swallow this meme again?" If i were the EU i would say veto any brexit deal until they get a cast iron guarantee that ALL EU citizens whether already in the UK or newly coming to the UK is guaranteed to be safe then they can move on Its shocking that she has went back on her word EU citizens rights so it really does make it look like they can to move from phase 1 so it wont look bad on the Tories like their somehow trying when really they aint Wake up UK they are wanting a no deal and hard brexit there for Scotland will say see ya later UK enjoy that hard brexit or move to Scotland and avoid that brexit mess
