"Cameron was caught on camera calling brexit a "mistake, not a disaster" https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=16&v=UTNDXYDoCrQ. I agree it is a mistake, but would say it is a disaster too, do you? "

So the crux of it appears to be Cameron is now basically freely admitting his Project Fear Remain campaign was nothing but bullshit.

As you are keen to remind people, Brexit hasn't happened yet.

So this is rather like jumping off a cliff and halfway down declaring it to be a mistake rather than a disaster.

You're not wrong, but that doesn't quite tell the whole story.

"So the crux of it appears to be Cameron is now basically freely admitting his Project Fear Remain campaign was nothing but bullshit. "

Apparently he said it's not going as badly as he thought it would. That's not really saying it's going well or that he didn't think the warnings he gave were true. It just means that, so far, it's not been as bad as it might of been. I actually agree with him. With regularity alignment things aren't as bad as I thought they might be but, with high inflation, large companies still talking about leaving the UK and the UK slipping from being the fastest growing country in Europe to the slowest, I'd still say things are pretty bad.

Were not going to get anywhere on brexit until we get closure.

That requires middle class educated people to admit they've fucked over every working class uneducated person for 40 years in the name of benefiting themselves!, once you've apologized for this deed I feel we could all move on to a society that should benefit all equally and not just educated middle class tits with a chip on their shoulder about superiority because they've got a degree

How about educated working class people with degrees or middle class people with no superiority chip on their shoulder because they've not got a degree but still think BREXIT is a bad idea?

So the lying politician who will go down in history as being responsible for brexit now claim that it is not going to be a disaster...

Can anyone think of a reason why he may want to claim that it (brexit) has not been responsible for the 20% drop in the value of the £ and the economy going from being the fastest growing economy in the EU to the slowest (and that's before we actually leave)?

Just googled for the exchange rate a week before the referendum and yesterday:

15th June 2016

£1 = €1.2601

£1 = $1.4205

24th Jan 2018

£1 = €1.1474

£1 = $1.4254

Not a 20% drop then.....

Like all statistics they can be manipulated. If you look at when the £ was trading 1.42€ then you have a different answer. Yes that was before the referendum, but with the strongest economy in the G7 it's quite reasonable to think it would have maintained or increased value. But in essence your both right it just shows how facts can be manipulated!

Unfortunately many suffer from Brexit derangement syndrome.

The hate and vitriolic responses that are regurgitated day after day are truly mind boggling.

No one knows really what is going to happen, as it is uncharted territory for everyone Politicians and People. Nobody has the power to say what will be, or what will happen because no one knows. Morale high ground is sort by everyone with their virtue signalling. Here I often observe the tittle tattling and feel very sad for you all. It really isn't worth it to spend so much time and energy on it, you are literally wasting your lives for what?

Count your blessings and be thankful for what you have as life is rather too short to be getting your panties in a twist day after day.

Again, google tells me that..

The last time the euro was 1.42 to the pound was November 2015...... 6 months before the referendum!

It was also around this time that the IMF, the OECD and the BoE were saying that sterling was overvalued by as much as 20%.

exactly as I stated - and said it was before the referendum but the referendum influenced the value of the pound as well.

As to the value of the pound being over valued well all I can say is that the value of the pound has generally fallen throughout my lifetime! If you remember old money 2s6d used to be known as half a dollar - there is a reason there were 4$ to a pound once. If you look at the £ to DM rate in 1966 and compare it to todays rate its only gone down. So as a country our currency which was once "king" has fallen considerably since WW2. An expert can say its over valued but the £ in your pocket is just fluttering away - sadly.

I haven't given up Bob, certainly not defeated, I have far more important stuff to keep me busy! I enjoy everyday as if it were my last though.

I'm charitable, friendly and helpful. I distance myself from political agendas and ideology, I think for myself, take responsibility for myself and try and do a good deed everyday. I enjoy reading the politics forum (sometimes) I occasionally dip my toe in, We are not all the same and I respect everyone's opinions and points of view regardless of their affiliations.

I agree, we do need to cone to terms with why people voted out but I don't feel any sting in my arse from the referendum vote, in fact quite the opposite. I expect to make quite a lot of money out the requirements from businesses to adjust their procedures, systems and practices to cope with the chaos that BREXIT is already bringing. Unfortunately the people most likely to actually feel a sting in their arses are the very same less well educated working class people who you claim to speak for. It's their jobs that are going to be lost, their working rights that are going to be diminished, their wages that are going to be cut. It is also their right to go and work in the friving economies of Europe such Holland, Germany and France when things go sower here, as many did in the 80s and 90s, that is also being removed. You claim to speak for them but then back a policy that is and will only make things a lot worse for them. Why's that?

I'm not claiming to speak for anyone, its a personal observation I've made over those long years along with some choice reading material.

.

I'll give you a clue, they don't care that things will get worse for them, things have got worse for them for the last 40 years they've had enough, what there looking for now is retribution, they want everybody else to suffer as well.
