The Guardian revamps it's look in bid to revive failing fortunes

The Guardian relaunched itself on Monday with a new look and the cash strapped newspaper has shrunk to save on costs. It comes after the newspaper made a £38 million loss in 2016/17 and downsized it's USA operations last year after falling sales and profits. The Guardian can wrap itself in a new front cover design but at the end of the day if the content of the paper inside continues to be shit (as it has been) then no amount of new clothes or redesigning of front covers will alter it's failing fortunes or its decline in profits and sales.

OP, all news in print has suffered sales wise with the rise in phones, tablets etc and online news..

every one of the 'main titles', mail, mirror, sun, guardian, times, telegraph etc have lost about half their sales in the past 7 to 8 years..

do keep up..

No, it's different because the guardian is bad... For some reason.

I'm sure he'll copy&paste his opinion on why that is shortly.

No they just made a loss because the content of the paper is shit and The Guardian never comes out with any exclusives.

My internet news reading sites are BBC, Mail, Guardian, HuffPost and CNN.

I find...

BBC to be... just news

Mail to be... informative and misleading in equal proportions (but the readers comments are hilarious)

Guardian to be... very Liberal minded and provides incisive and tedious monologues in equal proportions.

HuffPost.., to portray a left leaning and broadly humorous look at the news.

CNN... just watch to keep track of US events.

The rebranding of the Guardian is as irrelevant as any rebranding of high profile blue chip entities. Can anyone remember the eye watering coat of the change of BP branding a few years ago?

The Guardian didn't even get a mention on Sky news press preview programme tonight. That's how irrelevant (and shit) the paper has become.

It's just been mentioned on sky news 11:30pm press preview. The Guardian is so shit it couldn't get its front cover out in time for the 10:30pm press preview programme earlier.

Yes. Press review is recorded once only and repeats thereafter.

No it isn't. The press preview programme on sky news often talks about different stories in the 11:30pm show to what they've talked about in the 10:30pm showing. Particularly if a newspaper has been late getting it's front page out for one reason or another.

Word for word...it’s recorded. Maybe someone nodded off during the earlier show?

You're mistaken. Sky news will do a new press preview show at 11:30pm if a newspaper is late getting it's front page out and misses the 10:30pm showing.

And as we all know, the only factor that matters for a newspaper is whether or not they make it onto the 10:30 sky press preview.

You are even starting to *sound* like Donald Trump now.

The guardian is one of the few non-tabloid papers that ask for voluntary financial support from readers rather then using a paywall.

Oh... actually... yeah.... they don't have a wall. Not wonder you don't like them.
