I am not sure that anything has changed over the years as far as sexual attacks on women are concerned. I have a nasty feeling that the only thing that is new is that they are being publicised for race hate when they are carried out by men with brown skin.

The Europe you remember (Germany anyway) was not full of immigrants with a totally “different” attitude to (particularly white) women.....

I agree, although in this case the racism is also combined with a good dose of Islamophobia.

Really?

I remember when I was first going to Germany being told 'not to go to the spik (Turkish)(apologies for any insult caused) areas because the they would cut me up and r@pe any girl I was with. Seems to me that nothing has really changed.

What happened in Cologne last year would have been reported all over the place had it EVER happened previously. The answer needs to lie in education. Until such a time as that has had an effect then, sadly, the security will be necessary. I’m sure the authorities there have done their homework....

Would it?

Have you ever heard of the 'white skins'?

Their just as bad if not worse, but I have never seen a single news report about them outside local German papers...

Firstly....I made no mention of the skin colour of the perpetrators.

Secondly....fact. The victims in Cologne were almost exclusively white women. As for the perpetrators...that is a matter of public record.

Thirdly.... attacks on this scale had NEVER happened previously.

Is it time to be terrified of the darkies again?

Just ignorant, uneducated men. It’s not dark skin that’s the problem.....perhaps the dark ages?

Wherever the party is!

I will be out tonight. Keep your handbags close and your daughters safe at home.

Fair warning...

A town near you

Is it just a coincidence that all these reports that seem to start during the influx of migrants, and please dont shoot im just posing the question as i know one German person very well who told me their family no longer attend outdoor events during the summer such as carnivals, sports days and bbqs due to the unwanted attendees and the problems they pose.

This person happens to be a very open minded liberal individual.

.

Well at least there confronting the problem now instead of ignoring it or pretending it's not happening.

With some effort I'm pretty sure they'll get to grips with it.

Cambridge

You know this so called "safety zone" is a single tent run by the red cross right? Next to one of their 6 first aid stations across the city.

Just one tent.

If they set up enough tents for 800 victims like last time the public would panic

That is right, by confronting it, it is the first step to tackle the problem and it is a good start too. I reckon more citys will do what they have done.

Its 1 tent. If I went up and set up a tent in Cambridge that said "women's safe zone" would you then say there is a problem in Cambridge? Would it make the international news?

We have ladies only buses in Sheffield for decades. All those Yorkshire men are dangerous...

Not really.

Lets not pretend it's safe in the UK or Europe. There has always been sexual assaults. There has also been an influx of hate crimes since brexit. With that logic, brexit causes hate crime.

What is your thought?

Only if it was in response to 800 sexual assaults in one place in one night.....that was the real news. But a tent (if that’s the truth...which I doubt) is not the answer. As I said before...education is the long term answer.

Here is the link saying its just 1 tent.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/31/europe/germany-berlin-new-year-safe-zone/index.html

Do you have any other sources stating it was multiple tents or a larger area? Or even enforced by the police rather than a charity?

Firstly: No you did not mention skin colour, but the implication was there. That is why I did.

Secondly: I asked if you had heard of the 'white skins', obviously you never have because 'white skins' does not refer to their colour but to the colour of the laces in their boots! Further wherever the white skins turn up on mass they are swiftly followed by the riot police and the streets empty because no one is safe when they are around.

Now if you don't believe me ask your German good friends about them and then ask yourself why you have never heard of them but you do hear of any attacks by Russian thugs and brown or black thugs. Let me give you a hint, its for the same reason that mass murders in the USA by gun toting white men are the acts of sick minds but attacks by brown men are terrorism and attacks by black men are the acts of savages!

Is a safe zone making it safer? A safe zone suggests all other areas are unsafe for women

Yes, everywhere apart from 1 single red cross tent in Berlin is unsafe.

Berlin?

Or do you mean Cologne, Hamburg, Dortmund, Stuttgart, or Düsseldorf where most of the sex attacks took place?

Nope, Berlin was the only place with a safe tent (not sure that qualifies as a "zone").

Berlin has a tent but Cologne, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Dortmund and Malmo Sweden have all had an alarming increase in sex attacks

I'm just wondering why they're setting up a "safe women's zone" in a tent in Berlin when the problem was allegedly in Cologne!
