Economic Downgrade Again

Yet further dire exonomic news in relation to the UK economy post referendum. The IMF have yet again had to downgrade their economic forecast for the UK. Growing inflation, delayed investment, devaluation of the pound, real term wages falling, all hammer blows to regular families up and down the UK.

I'm willing to bet that it makes no difference to the Brexit voters on this forum, but it's more proof that what was labelled as "project fear" would be more accurately described as "project truth".

Yeah, with a bigger economy you can either increase public spending, or pay down the deficit, however the most important political issue to brexiters seems to be leaving the EU. No matter the cost.

Austerity and poverty?

Where in the UK did you grow up? Have you seen poverty in tge North?

We have the greatest scale of national geographic inequality in the EU, well except for greece.

Neither Italy's, Spain's or Portugal's geographic inequality in as bad as ours.

is that greater clarity on the negative reaction to people's incomes given the decision to leave?

And how is life in denial working out for you?

The clearer things become the worse it gets. The UK economy is already stagnating and people are suffering. The EU is exceeding its hopes in negotiations as the Torys blunder their way through negotiations.

Their forecast was 2.3% for 2017, in 2015. In 2016 it was revised down to 1.8% for 2017, and today it has been revised down once again, whilst the rest of the world is increasing. As things have become clearer, the forecast have been revised down again and again. The only person for whom its not clear, is you.

No, the UK has the lowest growth rate in the whole of the EU. We used to be the highest, but now we are the lowest. All of Southern Europe is now out performing the UK.

Christine Lagarde has been speaking about Brexit and the fact that theyve been vindicated in their preBrexit predictions.

Of course everyone reasonable already knew that the impact of Brexit was delayed since the triggering of Article 50 was delayed and the impact has been spread over a longer timeline. Unreasonable people kept banging on about Michael Fish refusing to accept that since A50 had been delayed the effects were delayed.

2017 has seen the UK perform very poorly in economic terms compared to where it should be and that poor performance is going to continue into 2018. Not only is that unfortunate for British people but it also increases the pressure on the Torys to get a deal now.

This will be Brexit in name only. A Ukraine style deal is the only face saving result for May but that means huge concessions from the Torys.

We haven't left yet!

Time will tell, but if ithe economy takes off then there will be a lot of "told you so". However if it goes wrong how long do you give it before we get "told you so"? The brexiteers have admitted there is going to be a period of pain before the good times come back - but how long do you give it - 1,2,3,10,20 year's?

Well Im looking at economic data from the past 18 months and seeing what everyone else does, stagnation, regression and some industries already in recession. And nothing in the next 6 months thats going to change that.

Youre the one saying things arent clear yet and that something magical is on the horizon thats going to change everything without any idea what that might be.
