Government Collapse

Juncker is predicting May's government will collapse next week if she doesn't secure a deal, according to The Telegraph. What do you think?

I always said that the shit was going to hit the fan when the broad church that formed the Brexiters started to break apart when they realised they all had different views of what Brexit would actually look like.

The one being pushed by the Tories is certainly different to what the DUP thought.

Hmmm.

I voted to remain but appreciate that May and her cabinet (band of eejits) have had some kind of mandate (based on lies) will of the people thingy, so leaving the EU, I accept (though they are wrong and I hate them)

I don't envy any party leading on this kind of negotiation. It's complex and one I don't even pretend to understand.

To me it's like cancelling Sky Films and then attempting to negotiate with each film director individually.

Stephen Speilberg is not playing game.

Then all of a sudden C4 come a knocking and say what about us?

It is difficult to see how the government could collapse . We had a recent election and other parties could not even get close to her. The issue with the DUP will shortly be resolved . A Labour party in power is the last thing that any DUP supporter would want to see in power.

You think the DUP would rather NI was essentially thrown out of the UK than have a Labour government? You know, the party that signed thr good Friday agreement and created the Northern Ireland Assembly? Perhaps you want to think again on that?

The DUP have specifically said that they do not wish to be treated any differently to the rest of the UK. How does that equate to be thrown out ? Exports from NI to the UK are 21 % of Northern Ireland's trade while those to the Republic of Ireland are just 5 % and the rest of the EU 3 %.

As the situation currently stands the Conservatives have more support than any other party . The movements to which you refer are simply an indication that a hard campaign will need to be fought a the next election. A win is a win whether it is by a margin or 1 or 150.

Yeah, we know what the DUP want, but the PM just went to Brussels and without consulting them, or senior members of her cabinet agreed that NI would stay in the customs union and the single market. Hell, May would make NI adopt the Euro if it meant she could move onto trade talks.

" Exports from NI to the UK are 21 % of Northern Ireland's trade while those to the Republic of Ireland are just 5 % and the rest of the EU 3 %. "

...no. I mean common sense should tell you this is absolute nonsense before you even typed it.

15% of exports are to the Republic with a further 8% to the rest of the EU. Thats a total of 23% to the EU.

Do you have a fetish for being wrong? Is it some rare kink to post something completely dishonest and then be embarassed when youre shown up to be a liar?

Ill save you the trouble of trying to reply:

"Luckily I prefer to defer to the kmowledge of my potted plan. My potted plant has managed 50% growth in 2017 as compared to the EUs economy being reduced by 2000%. The EU now actually owe more money than the world has while my potted plant is predicted to be 60 feet tall by this time next year.

You may call me a liar but luckily that is a reflection of you rather than me as I explained to my wife. She claimed I had forgotten her birthday but in reality that was a reflection on her having forgot her own birthday and nothing to do with me. It is difficult to see a situation that results in either Brexit or being told to sleep on the couch being a negative. I prefer to be optimistic and see only positive things. Luckily I close my eyes and sing Cliff Richard songs whenever talk of negativity on Brexit or my impending divorce proceedings take place. Luckily Theresa May is doing a great job and has the EU in the palm of her hand thanks to some deft organisational skill with the DUP, praise be Theresa, first of her name."

My guess is that in real life no one would walk up to someone and call them a liar . This type of activity is reserved for keyboard warriors. Accordingly posters who call other posters dishonest can simply be ignored . It is a reflection on the poster calling someone dishonest , not the recipient of the derogatory comment.

I have checked my source and am satisfied that it is correct.

There is of course an additional analysis of trade between Ireland and Great Britain which shows how dependent Island is on trade with the UK.

In real life you wouldnt tell so many lies, get shown up as a liar so often and not learn anything from it.

Well lets hear who your source is then! Mine is the Northern Ireland government, specifically the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency. (This is the point where you pretend my sources are biased....even though theyre the DUP led government).

i prefer to do my own research rather than believe people who constantly post on internet forums about their best guesses of what happens in real life. if they have to resort to mere guesses of what happens in real life then anything they constantly write on internet forums can be disregarded as poor data. luckily we have people waiting to step in and save everyone in this country as soon as the present government collapses which by all the accounts of confirmed accurate sources will be very soon.

Cyber keyboard warriors exist in the internet world and not in our world so how can they know whats happening here? In real life no one would ever call me a liar, they roll their eyes in agreement and they listen to me for up to one full minute before running off to make important phone calls.

Yes the UK is an important trading partner for Ireland - but so is Ireland to the UK , especially when it comes to importing food - as is the EU because Britain doesn't produce enough food to feed itself.

Looking on the bright side, at least Brexit will have a sudden impact on the obesity problem.

I've been watching a lot of the EU withdrawal bill coverage on the Parliament channel since it started some weeks ago. There are loads of ammendments to get through and so far loads have been rejected. The Government in the majority of votes on ammendments seems to win most of the time with a majority of around 20. Now the DUP only gives the government a majority of around 10 so the EU withdrawal bill ammendment votes show there must be around 10 Brexit supporting Labour MP's who are consistently voting with the government and supporting the government on Brexit and the EU withdrawal bill.

There are 6 independent MP,s not aligned with any of the major parties.

Plus the MP,s from Northern Ireland that do not take their seats because they are frightened to take an oath to Her Majesty The Queen.

30 years ago i was a true blue but over the yesrs i have slowly drifted to the left. Theresa May looks incredibly weak. The problem for the tory party is who could replace her ? I cannot think of one thing that has improved over the last few years. Mental health is in crisis as is the NHS. Homelessness is rising. Suicide is up. Schools are facing cuts in funding. Poverty if rife across the whole country. I could go on. What government allows people to starve ? And now it seems perfectly clear that the tories have no clue how to deal with brexit. Yes its very complex. Would labour do better ? Probably not but i cannot see the tories getting the UK any sort of deal. Not one that will give the poorest in our country any hope in the future. Im sure some tory MP's see sactioning the poorest or the disabled who then die as a result as a modern elitest ethic cleansing.

Those figures show Labour lost the general election with 56 MP's less than the tories. Pat was right when he said Labour were no where near winning. "

They're got hordes of activists. Maybe an economic shock or Brexit crisis away from the keys to #10 ?

"Juncker is predicting May's government will collapse next week if she doesn't secure a deal, according to The Telegraph. What do you think?

I always said that the shit was going to hit the fan when the broad church that formed the Brexiters started to break apart when they realised they all had different views of what Brexit would actually look like.

The one being pushed by the Tories is certainly different to what the DUP thought. What a load of crap"

Indeed and seems like yet more wishful thinking and hysterical scaremongering from the OP....There won't be a deal, the government will collapse, blah, blah, blah.

Then a week later, hey Ho there is a deal and the government hasn't collapsed.

Thank god for the DUP giving May a hard lesson in saying never surrender. Without them we'd have ended up with May's supine draft from Monday.

It seems to me that May is very open to suggestion, hardly the right person to lead a negotiation. Could we nominate Arleen Foster as her stand in for future Junker lunches? She'd eat him alive.

Arlene Foster is responsible for rhe power sharing agreement in NI collapsing. Now instead of NI being administered by their democratically elected local politicians, it's now run by a minister in Whitehall. That is quite a fuck up by anyone's standards. She has also crippled NI's budget with her moronic cash-for-ash scheme, which she pushed ahead with against advice.

Also I don't think you should be making comments about her weight by suggesting that she would be eating people.
