Not quite as Theresa May and the Tories formed a working partnership with the DUP in a relatively short space of time and now have a working majority in the house of commons. Merkel has failed miserably to form a working partnership or coalition with anyone in Germany and she only has herself to blame for the situation she has now found herself in. All her problems stem back to refusing to give David Cameron any kind of meaningful concessions on immigration and free movement during the UK renegotiation talks with the EU (which in part lead to the UK voting to leave the EU) and her incredibly foolish and downright stupid declaration of "All welcome here" from the 3rd world during the migration crisis. The silly Frau has only got herself to blame.

" well since we were all told there was no "money tree" pre election, they certainly shook it to find the money post... and since the type of spending this is going on is normally part of the block grant given to the devolved administration, it should have meant extra money for both scotland and wales... so if one adminstration is getting money and the others aren't.... and that money goes to securing a deal with a party from that part of the world to prop up the government.... if you can tell me, hand on heart pat, that northern ireland would have gotten that money anyway.... and it was done the right way via the block grant.... then i won't call it a bribe.... but you can't... so lets call it what it is....

"If Angela Merkel fails to form a government , who is most likely to succeed her ????" Merkel's reputation is now in tatters. She fully deserves everything that she has got. Full credit to the AFD for putting her in her place for the incredibly foolish and stupid decisions she has made. Who will replace her? Frankly who cares as long as this dumb arrogant woman is kicked out. Germany has moved in a different direction and has rejected Merkel, I for one will be glad to see the back of her.

"Could be the beginning of the end of the EU hee hee hee" surely it was finished when the populations of the Netherlands, French and Germany all elected far right majority Governments in their elections after Brexit..? or when Italy, Portugal and Spain's economies collapsed causing the Euro to lose all its value..?

"There may have to be another election in Germany? This may result in further gains for the far right parties...that could spell trouble for Germany...but actually for the UK/Brexit too. As for May.... she cocked up calling an election. She had to promise extra money to the PEOPLE of NI, and this will benefit all there. It is also true that it may cost others as the “pot” of money is finite. However, the Tories did NOT loose the 2017 election. They actually polled more votes in total than they did in 2015! But momentum pulled in large number of younger voters coupled with Labour gaining votes from the collapse of the vote for UKIP and to some extent the SNP. The Tories actually had a higher percentage of the vote than two of the three elections that Blair won by “landslides”.... so don’t get carried away yet! Either way, we live in troubled times." agree on that but the Tories are also looking at the direction of travel of their's and Labours percentage of the vote from 2015 to 2017, the loss of a majority and the demographics of who voted for which party.. despite her having more votes than whomever she is only there still because they dare not replace her in case that leads to a vote of no confidence and an election amongst the uncertainty, back biting and chaos that is their party in these times of post referendum UK..
