Trump. Honest to a fault. Sorry. Honesty is a fault.

The Trump administration is being targeted for stiff criticism after it was announced Nov. 2 that the United States will no longer participate in a global coalition committed to reducing corruption in the energy sector.

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, established in 2003, received word from the Interior Department Nov. 2 that the United States will no longer implement the treaty's terms, according to CNBC.

This means that the U.S. will not ensure its laws conform to standards aimed at clamping down on corruption by oil, gas and mining companies.

It's hardly surprising but it is at least more honest than the alternative of making people believe that there's laws that stop billionaire collusion, tax evasion and corporate oligopoly

...and whilst he's at it:

The university professor who predicted Donald Trump’s election win has now claimed that the President will be impeached within a year.

American University Professor Allan Lichtman predicted a Trump win in September 2016 – long before most Americans considered it a possibility. But his prediction came with a hedge: the Republican president would also be impeached.

Now, Mr Lichtman writes in an essay for TIME, the Mr Trump is closer to impeachment.

“A Russian sword of Damocles is hanging over this American president by the slenderest of threads,” Mr Lichtman writes. “When this sword falls even Republicans, as in the Nixon case, will likely be compelled to begin impeachment proceedings.”

In fact, Mr Lichtman told the Daily Star, the impeachment will likely come in the spring of 2018.

The Harvard law professor Alan dersovitch? ... Well he doesn't think they'll get trump on anything even if they could prove colluision because collusion isn't against the law, there'd have to prove conspiracy and that's more likely to be proved against Hillary and rosatom for all that money she took from those rosatom individuals

Yes I think it could be tricky for them.... However

Barack Obama, you know the president in charge during the BP gulf spill... 18 billion dollar fine, largest in history, err not quite, part of that was a 15 billon dollar tax write off given to them by Obama in part of the deal as well as instant 5 billon dollar windfall, the same president who was in charge when the democracy now journalist was jailed for reporting from the falls pipe line debacle, sent in the police heavies to "smash" the heads of any objectors and campaigners.... And since leaving office, he's err earning a fortune from oil and gas companies while leaving the DNC in the words of Donna brazile "bankrupt".

If Trump wasn't going to give us a great post Brexit deal he might do something unfriendly like this:

Trump tweeted today that he would "very much appreciate" Saudi Aramco choosing New York for its IPO.

The Saudi oil giant has previously been tipped to list in London, prompting a major debate in the City over whether to bend Stock Exchange rules to allow the high-value IPO.

But the President has sought to entice the company across the pond.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but the UK defense industry has been kept afloat by Saudi Arabia.

Should we be making arms? Preferably not but unless there is an alternative industry in place and a way to maintain an independent method of building what we need to defend ourselves it would be as bad as the closure of the pits.

Inherently I don't disagree with closing uncompetitive industries but Margaret Thatcher did it the hard way. The wrong way. If there was a viable alternative future for all of those men would there have been such protest and conflict and bitterness?

You've pointed out the problem. What's the actual solution?

Who's bitch are we going to be?

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said it was vital that a Brexit deal between Britain and the European Union would be in the commercial interests of the United States and London should not to give in to the EU’s "highly protectionist" trade stance.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, speaks at the Conferederation of British Industry's annual conference in London, Britain, November 6, 2017. REUTERS/Mary Turner

Ross was speaking at a British business conference on Monday which was dominated by the looming split between Britain and its EU neighbor, with firms stating their concerns about the impact on trade in goods and services. [L5N1NC1Q0]

Sponsored

British Prime Minister Theresa May’s government has placed great emphasis on the potential for a U.S. trade deal and bilateral deals with other non-EU countries, to allow it to flourish after leaving the bloc.

Ross said he hoped the United States could become Britain’s number one trading partner, citing already large trade flows between the two, but said U.S. interests must be taken into account when striking an exit deal with the EU.

"It is ... important that an eventual Brexit agreement takes into account our commercial interests, and does not hinder development of a closer post-Brexit U.S.-UK relationship by continuing divergent standards and regulations and other protectionist measures," Ross said in a speech in London.

I make no mistake, you may want to read this CNN report that lists the bills Trump signed into law in his first 6 months.

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/06/29/politics/president-trump-legislation/index.html

In exactly the same way as Ministers of the Crown can make laws without the need of our legislators approval (it is called secondary legislation) Trump has similar powers and has been very busy using them to make and repeal laws.

Just because Trump is a blithering, bigoted imbecile, doesn't mean everyone who doesn't support him automatically supports Hillary Clinton, does it?

"Making America great again?.......Wow he is even worse than i thought he was going to be....He is a rank amatuer and it shows.....He is diminishing his country daily......America is becoming a figure of fun, which is so sad for us all worldwide .

I dunno what were we expecting from a golf course owner and part time reality TV host.... Something better than professional politicians?.

Come on be serious

The guy is semi-literate. My expectations were low.

He has, of course surpassed them by achieving absolutely nothing that he said he was going to do. "

Well let's be fair, he did claim people would be tired of winning.

And if this is winning, people are getting real tired of it.

Not quite. But without wanting to derail this thread too much, it was the planned date that the Segwit2x hard fork was happening. In short, Bitcoin would split into two incompatible versions. Problem is both communities think theirs in the ‘true’ bitcoin. The plans got cancelled. But then rumour was a rogue group might still make it happen. Last night that almost happened. As a result there is a massive delay in bitcoin transaction times and a backlog of transactions being processed.
