People can read into it as much as they want, but Michael Fallon would still be Defence Secretary now if he hadn't resigned.

Only he knows the real reasons.

Whilst Gavin Williamson is a very left field appointment, and it's not gone down well in some quarters, he is youngish, Northern and trusted.
