A survey by the University of Edinburgh along with Cardiff University, suggests that 88% of leave voters would be content to lose Scotland as long as they got out of the EU.

The most interesting part was the results for Tory voters in the sample.

92% thought Scotland leaving the Union would be an acceptable price to pay to take back control.

Less pleasing was the fact that 81% were prepared to accept the destabilisation of the Irish peace process to the same end.

So much for the Conservative and Unionist party then?

Well , well well no great shock their so much for the family of nations

To be honest I am more than happy to see the mask of Conservative Unionism (big C and U) being destroyed and the underlying bigotry that toryism is built on being exposed. And I also believe that if brexit is the cost of forcing racists, religious bigots and the closet nazis into the open then the economic disaster their beliefs are about to inflict on us all a price worth paying provided that at the end of the process we see the back of them and their fascist rags for ever and government returns to running the country for the benefit of all not their multimillionaire and billionaire mates.

There's a difference in wanting them to leave and not minding if they do, isn't there?

I would like Scotland to stay within the UK, but if the majority of people there vote to leave, then that's their decision to be respected.

Those tories might just think there's more important issues than whether Scotland stays or goes???

(I'm not a Tory btw, so I don't know )

Aye well Ruth Davidson and Thersea May seem to think they have saved the union i know crazy eh!!

So Scottish Tory branch has 13 Scottish mp's out of 59 Scottish seats and they think somehow they won the election in Scotland oh my some people cant do math its embarrassing

As for May she lost the Tory majority

So there we have it both Ruth Davidson and Thersea May both losers yet somehow think they won and saved the union

No no one lost an election in Scotland and one had to bribe the DUP to keep her party in power

Like is said that survey is a real eye opener to what leave voters and Tory voters really think about Scotland and the peace process fucking scary!!!

So 88% of the total were happy to say bye bye Scotland if we leave. 92% Tory voters (4% higher). How many labour? To balance it do you think it would be 84%..... kinda works with the maths!

Just pondering as I actually haven't a clue.

A fair few English people I've spoken to would just generally be glad for Scotland to gain full independence either way.....just to be shut of Nicola Sturgeon.

Problem is a lot of leave voters will pay any price (or at least see others pay any price) just as long as we leave the EU. Not unlike some, maybe most, Scot Nats in their desire to leave the UK. Maybe you've got more in common with them than you realise.

A break up of the UK would be far more economically damaging to both England and Scotland than any damage caused by leaving or staying on the EU. I'm a passionate remainer but, if the boot was on the other foot and staying in the EU was going to cause the breakup of the UK I'd choose to keep the UK and leave the EU. We've got to start looking at these issues with cool heads rather than hot emotions.
