"OK.... so in the referendum campaign labour (same as tories) officially campaigned to remain....although Corbin didn't exactly seem enthusiastic. Following the result labour (same as tories) accepted the result and official policy was out of customs union and single market etc. During the election they very cleverly (as I pointed out on a previous thread) projected different messages in different seats....strongly pro exit in generally northern seats with larger out votes. Very much "soft" in southern seats with larger remain votes.... seemingly against a "hard" brexit etc. Worked wonders in the election. Conned millions. . Now Kier Starmer is blurring the lines again...talking if remaining in customs union/single market for potentially years to come..... will it work on a national scale? Conning people in individual seats, with different messages can work...but could it work on a national level....or is it just emphasising the confusion in his party (same as the tories?)" Im glad they have come out with a plan....for the good of the country...i really don't care about brexit now...im more bothered about whats going on in this country....i just know that if the Tories get there way it will cost a lot of people and i mean us normal people a lot of money and years more austerity

To make it clear Labour only said they would stay in the single market and the customs union during a transition period. After the transition period is over we would still leave the single market and the customs union. It's really irrelevant what Labour think now anyway, they lost the general election they are in opposition and they are not the government. It's the government who are conducting the exit negotiations not Labour.
