DWP Fitness for Work

90 people per month die after being deemed fit for work by 'dwp fitness for work' assessments.

Ignoring doctors and redefining what illness and disabilities are.

Plus a draconian controversial system costing more than what they save.

Time for a rethink? Or..

Tory ideology to make the vulnerable suffer at any cost

Just in addition.. Should tbere be an investigation into the possibility that people have died as a result of the 'fitness for work' and IDS Osbourne and Cameron held to account?

How did brexit leak into this one!!!!

I think it's disgusting on many levels,, I'm a taxi driver, and recently had the privilege of picking up new recruits that were on a residential training course (paid for by us) and the course was designed to explain the procedure but also (in their words) how to catch people out, the recruits were failed on not asking hard enough questions, and missing the opportunity to catch someone, they were all aware of the points system and that if the points were high at the start then they needed to pull it back by asking counter questions eg, can you wash your feet? Followed 10 mins later with can you put your shoes on? If one was yes and one no then that would raise enough doubt to question the claim!!!

People are training people to do this!! There is no way that the system is fare!! And all revealed in the fact that some if the claimants "wouldn't be clever or are too depressed to realise what was going on!!"

It's sick!! And we allow it to continue, the government and all involved should be brought to justice for this!!

And how many are actually milking the system?

How many false claimants are there?

How many times do we see/hear of someone scamming hundreds of thousands?

Hey, if someone is genuinely disabled then Hell yes, support them in every way they need supported, no question about it.

The official figures - compiled with the help of the heartless bastards who use every opportunity to sanction people and their family, for up to 3 years show tiny amounts of abuse. As others point out, it's incredibly difficult to get what people are entitled to and the impact upon unhealthy people is so enormous that it has a huge toll upon society. The right wing media nutjobs will spin negative tales at every opportunity, so should be avoided at all costs

Yes there should, many people have died as a result of benefit sanctions, the true figures are kept quiet so the public don't know the truth. Osborne, Cameron and Iain Duncan Smith are directly responsible for each death having taken decisions which they knew would result in the deaths of large numbers of people. They made these decisions deliberately which means they are guilty of murder and should pay for their crimes.

The thing about this approach is that it is just pointless.

People who have been working the system will continue to do so, and will have the skills needed to circumvent these barriers, whereas people who are in genuine need will fall foul of them.

All it achieves is hurting people with genuine needs and giving people who hate the poor a towering erection.

They get that anyway because of the media they consume and how they vote.

Even with punitive systems and processes in place, the system gaming is sub 1% - whereas £millions is not claimed or is sanctioned from people in excess of this. But the nasty lot still persist and are ecstatic to cause untold damage to people. This despite the extra financial burden put upon the health system from wilful damage to peoples lives and health - as well as dependents.

I challenge anyone wanting it tougher or claiming it's soft to investigate the reports and data that the government tries to hide. They don't.

"OP, what method would you propose, to ensure that those in genuine need of help get it, and those who can work, do an appropriate job?"

Base the decision on medical results from previous nhs records/referrals that assited GPs to make a diagnosis, rather than a biased subcontractor in the pay of the government to kick people off, based on their opinion and ignoring doctors, pathologists, consultant referrals to specialists in their fields of medicine.

You ask what other way it can be done?

This costs even more money than if medical assements weren't done!

These subcontractors are taking even more money than potential 'scroungers'

90 People are dying per month after these so called assessments. so, if these rubbish assessments are costing even more money whats the point?

Potentially they may have a variable condition. There is no one right answer based on a momentary period in time - just as if someone was incapacitated due to depression, they would not potentially be at risk of suicide ever, or all the time.

The assessments have largely been inappropriate for many people and haven't included full medical evidence or been undertaken by people with relevant expertise and medical knowledge. That's the more important point - how we are failing in our duty of care.

The PIP forms are a similar problem.

I have a friend who was seriously injured in a car crash (he was a rear passenger...prior to rear seat belts). He is hemiplegic, suffered brain injuries has dysphasia and dysphagia. He is virtually blind in one eye and has double vision in his "good" eye.

He has being receiving DLA for a long time. The annual updates he has received always said "permanent ".

He has recently received a 56 page form in order to claim for PIP....if he doesn't claim he loses all benefits. He is lucky in that I and his career can fill the form in for him....how many other disabled people will simply not be able to fill the firm in properly and will lose their benefits entirely?

And if someone says they are unable to wash their feet, but ten minutes later say they're perfectly capable of putting their own shoes on and tying their laces up, which answer would you take?

That they've mastered the fine art of Velcro shoes?

Read what I posted again.....

It's not any less stupid on subsequent readings

I am unable to wash my feet, but totally capable of TYING MY LACES UP.

and then you answer with, 'they've mastered the fine art of Velcro shoes.

They don't do jokes on your part of the world, I take it?

So you think people having a disability is something to laugh about then?"

If I say yes, will you stop talking?

EDINBURGH

maybe if we are looking at people abusing the system and scroungers, maybe we should start with the MPs and then the house of lords first,

"90 people per month die after being deemed fit for work by 'dwp fitness for work' assessments.

Ignoring doctors and redefining what illness and disabilities are.

Plus a draconian controversial system costing more than what they save.

Time for a rethink? Or..

Tory ideology to make the vulnerable suffer at any cost

"

As someone who is partially disabled your view that it is the tories fault is not altogether true. There is a problem with false claiments, they are trying to do that but not doing it well.It is bad policy rather than trying to take money from the disabled, the benefit cheats are the cause of the problem

"The PIP forms are a similar problem.

He is lucky in that I and his career can fill the form in for him....how many other disabled people will simply not be able to fill the firm in properly and will lose their benefits entirely?"

Then they should get help, you have to make an effort.

. ,,,,,,,, rich people / companies are able to employ accountants to get them through the complications of the tax system and the form filling , hopefully ( for them ) with the added bonus of the tax they thought they would have to pay being lowered, if this is being done lawfully then they have the entitlement to do so ,,,,,,,, It would be good if everyone needing to claim PIP and other benefits they are lawfully entitled to had the same assistance ,, ( I suspect they don't)

"OP, what method would you propose, to ensure that those in genuine need of help get it, and those who can work, do an appropriate job?

Base the decision on medical results from previous nhs records/referrals that assited GPs to make a diagnosis, rather than a biased subcontractor in the pay of the government to kick people off, based on their opinion and ignoring doctors, pathologists, consultant referrals to specialists in their fields of medicine.

You ask what other way it can be done?

This costs even more money than if medical assements weren't done!

These subcontractors are taking even more money than potential 'scroungers'

90 People are dying per month after these so called assessments. so, if these rubbish assessments are costing even more money whats the point? "

"And how many are actually milking the system?

How many false claimants are there?

How many times do we see/hear of someone scamming hundreds of thousands?

Hey, if someone is genuinely disabled then Hell yes, support them in every way they need supported, no question about it.

"

I agree to a point.

But for me shouldn't someone on pip end up with more disposable income then a family where both are parents working.

Or even a single parent trying to bring the children up on there own.

So very well put from the side of the fence that need support.

All the best and luck to you.

Washing feet and putting on slip on shoes do not require the same movement or dexterity.

There is help out there but you have to be aware of it first.

It’s under the euphemisms of ‘Entrepreneurialism’ & ‘Market forces’ that this government have allowed a growth industry to sprout up that cross examines & scrutinise’s people to death by using fraudulent computer software & bogus science using sick and disabled BRITISH PEOPLE as lab rats by using medical techniques that they wouldn’t be able to anywhere else by cranks & medical charlatans that COSTS MORE THAN IT WAS EVER GOING TO SAVE

WAKE UP!
