Dodgy greenhouse gas data threatens Paris accord

It seems that the likes of China, India, Russia and even Italy are being a little economical with the data they declare.

Prof Glen Peters, from the Centre for International Climate Research, in Oslo, said: "The core part of Paris [is] the global stock-takes which are going to happen every five years, and after the stock-takes countries are meant to raise their ambition, but if you can't track progress sufficiently, which is the whole point of these stock-takes, you basically can't do anything.

"So, without good data as a basis, Paris essentially collapses."

Don't know why, Paris was always a non binding, self regulating accord anyhow, you don't get fined or shunned for breaking your own set targets.

The only momentous thing about the Paris accord was it was the first time every country has admitted that without limiting c02 output and trying to hold the temperature rise to 1.5 degrees were all fucked

This seems to be more about refrigerant gases that keep showing up in various testing locations without anybody owning up to using them?.

The Paris accord was always going to be tricky to implement as nobody and I mean nobody really wants to upset voters (except maybe trump

It's also about methane from India and Russia, and mentioned nitrous oxide aswell.

The 2 degree limit which promises catastrophic climate change is pretty much irrelvant now.The Paris agreement is now irrelvant.

The “likely range” of global temperature increase by 2100 is 2 to 4.9 degrees Celsius, the researchers concluded ? with a median rise of 3.2 degrees Celsius.

Unfortunately just like fallout from Chernobyl or windscale or Fukushima it doesn't matter if it comes from home or abroad, it will get you in the end
