There seems to growing support for the boycott of this chav publication from football clubs in the Uk and cities like liverpool and manchester too.

It looks like its going down the pooper,do you see it lasting?

I just looked up the stats and its increasing in popularity as it's now the second highest read paper, jumping from fourth so unlikely to be dissapearing any time soon.

Lets hope they do...the thing should had been shut down down after Hillsborough tbh...but i suppose some people have to get there information from somewhere even if it is lies

In defence of this publication. It can be really good for making paper mache with. Apart from that, I don't think it has any valid purpose.

I guess it depends what you mean by worse. I simply can not stand reading The Sun or The Mirror either. However I can read The Daily Mail and sometimes it has some good articles in it to. So which is worse, a paper like The Sun or Mirror that everyone, including those that read them, knows to be biased or a paper that purports to be a serious paper, does do some serious journalism sometimes (Stephen Laurence), is thought to be true by many who read it but is actually even more biased in its editorial and comment section?

I don't personally believe in the thought police idea.

Many times I've really wanted to ban things that just print bollocks but the reality is you just drive the process worse, the counter is obviously better journalism elsewhere.

However I would seek to limit who owns media and how much they own, I think that's reasonable to give them or anyone a voice, just not to much of one

Simple if you don't like what the apapers say then don't read them .

They all want to make a song and dance about it instead of just not buying it.

To me the Sun is akin to the Beano or the Dandy.

However shutting down "newspapers" is the thin end of a very thick wedge.

Be very careful what you wish for.

If it goes skint then fair enough.

Thank you for explaining the definition of 'boycott' to the people on the thread that either can't read or believe boycott and ban mean the same thing.

I agree with you and the OP and that people should boycott it if they don't agree with it.

Theres a very fair point to the football clubs banning the Sun. Apart from the Hillsborough disaster and what they did to make it worse they constantly attack players and particularly England players with baseless crap and then for 4 weeks leading up to a tournament pretend to be cheerleaders. Then as soon as their eliminated they savage the players and the manager.

The Sun even lamabasted Sterling for having the audacity to buy his mum a house. Who woukd do such a thing!!!

Terrible paper for football clubs and players. Vicious attacks, baseless stories and the odd but of racism thrown in like the recent story comparing a mixed race player to a gorilla. No reason for any football club to allow them access.

I would say that labelling an independent judiciary (an essential part of our democracy) "enemies of the people" puts them beyond the pale.

Nothing to do with being lefties...a lot to do with dignity for the families involved and having to put up with there lies about what happened that day at Hillsborough...but then if you feel that that's acceptable reporting then feel free you keep getting your misinformation from it....oh and btw isnt or wasnt The Sun part of the same newspaper group as those who hacked poor Millie Dowler's phone and was sending messages from it to her parents....like i said if you feel that is acceptable carry on

If any paper looks like it's going down the tubes then it would be The Guardian. Dozens of staff cuts and job losses at its USA offices and millions lost in revenue from its USA market. At least the Americans can see the guff in the Guardian for what it really is.

Like all newsprint. Targets the audience. Tells them what they want to hear/believe regardless of the truth. It's what media does!

Just like McDonald/momentum/Labour in the last GE. Low key national campaign. Dozens of different campaigns in different seats depending on demographics and the leaning in the brexit referendum.

But to be fair, the telegraph published a very similar front page, and they are usually a good paper.
