I'm surprised I've not seen this before, considering it was written nearly a year ago. This comes about as close as I've ever seen so far to a 'plan' of how we might ACTUALLY leave the EU. Significantly more meat on it than just 'brexit means brexit'. I wonder if Theresa May has seen it?

http://www.eureferendum.com/documents/flexcit.pdf

Only read the summary so far, as it is 406 pages long, but having a flick through it is at least a plan, which is considerably more than I've seen thus far.

Not found a timeline in it yet, but it does advocate a phased approach, and with quite a bit in it to get done in less than a decade, let alone 18 months.

If it's a reasonable approach I'll be surprised if the BREXITers on here will back it.

"Nah, bin it "

It's actually quite a pro-BREXIT document. You can tell that just by reading the forward.

The thing is is that it actually address the real problems that BREXIT presents and tries to find real solutions to those problems. Some, like also leaving or changing our membership of the European Convention on Human Rights, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to agree but I've not read all 406 pages. However it does suggest a phased approach, possibility taking up to 20 years to complete the task completely.

Maybe you and other BREXITers should read it.

It's this mad, quick, uncompromising approach to BREXIT that is by far a bigger problem than BREXIT itself.

Thats far and away the most credible, well thought out pro Brexit piece Ive ever seen.

For all the complaints about experts from the leavers side this document shows how vital it is to have them because this is actually a strategy and its something that if implemented from the start would have given Brexit the best chance of success.

It also shows how badly the Brexit process has been botched so far because comparing the two shows just how dire its been.

Im genuinely impressed, if skeptical on some of their points such as supplanting the EU with a continent wide EU-lite, on how well thought out this is. These are the people that should be guiding Brexit strategy if people want it to have any chance of success.

Flexcit makes total sense. It is a well thought out plan, well researched. It is not a final plan for leaving the EU but the start of a transitional way to exit in an orderly way.

Don't worry we are leaving, there is no question of Brexit happening. As Chancellor of the exchequer Philip Hammond said on the BBC Andrew Marr show this morning that we are still leaving the single market AND the customs union when we leave the EU. Essentially the government position on Brexit is still the same now as it was before the general election. The EU negotiations start tomorrow as originally planned. Happy days.

The position of hardcore Brexiters is one naturally based entirely upon blind hope and ignorance.

Any contact with reality and their worldview falls apart like wet tissue, so no rational analysis must ever be entertained to maintain the idea that they are succeeding.

Thank god the wheels are coming off the whole affair anyway due to Tory incompetence.

You said after the general election result Tory Remainers would water down Brexit into a soft Brexit where we stay in the customs union and possibly the single market. Philip Hammond is one of those Tory remainers and he said himself this morning on the Andrew Marr show we are leaving the single market and the customs union. Your dreams that Brexit would be stopped or watered down have not materialised, you heard it from Philip Hammond himself on the Andrew Marr show, this is the reality of it. Hell, even the shadow chancellor John McDonnell said on the Sophie Ridge programme on sky news today that leaving the EU means leaving the single market. This is the political reality of it.

It's almost like you don't understand that both of them are saying what they think people like you want to hear, and what actually happens when either one of them is in a position to 'negotiate' will have its cast entirely decided by the economic reality of the situation, how they then present the change in their position to the public and how kind the EU decides to be to our 'negotiators'.

What a way to talk about the UK's next prime minister!

Once again, what anyone says about what Brexit will or won't be at the current time won't amount to a hill of beans once 'negotiations' start. Only the most deluded UKIP nutbags will even be thinking it's FOM is an important issue in 12 months time, compared with the pressing matter of preventing what's left of our economy from sliding into the abyss.

And by then, no-one will care what they think about anything.

The dup are NOT and have never been "terrorists" , are you confusing them with the Ira's political wing Sinn Fein (translated as "us alone" how much more nationalist and isolationist can you get?!).

Certainly the dup were always staunch unionists and their rhetoric was never compromising , sometimes verging on inflammatory but given what was happening, that's understandable to a degree. Irish People being blown to bits and murdered by a shadowy gorilla organisation of glorified Nazis ie the "paramilitary wing" of sf claiming to be patriots and "liberators".

Much as I loathe the dup, they never aligned themselves with terrorists or called for violence to be committed on their behest, unless you're privy to some sort of previously unknown information?

I would certainly NEVER vote for them, your chosen hyperbole demonstrates an EMBARRASSING lack of knowledge.

I'm always shocked at how loose a grasp persons within the Island of Britain have on recent history in Northern? Ireland. Is some degree of northern Irish history not included in your history curriculum? Bizarre.

God youve embarrassed yourself here. Going on a rant about other peoples lack of knowledge when you live in Northern Ireland and dont know anything about it.

The DUP leaders openly and publically founded the loyalist paramilitary group known as Ulster Resistance because the loyalist paramilitaries werent going far enough and the DUP feared peace stemming from the Anglo- Irish agreement.

And if you knew your history you'd know that it was loyalists that started the violence in whats known as the troubles. The Troubles started when Unionists founded the Ulster Voluntert Force in 1966. This violent paramilitary group was set up to suppress the non violent civil rights protests from Catholics.

Ian Paisley,DUP leader for decades also set up the UPV a group of loyalist paramilitaries. It wasnt until March 1969, 3 years of violence, shootings and bombings by loyalists did the IRA start its campaign of violence.

Youve a shocking, bizarre and one-sided view of the history of your own country. And you look like a fool trying to correct and talk down to others about their knowledge.

Ulster Resistance were formed by the DUP and the UPV before that by Paisley. Go read a history book.

Loyalist violence was a reaction against nationalist violence. I'm always surprised by the contempt people pour over the unionists for exercising one of the most natural and universal instincts.. to ward off a violent threat. I'm not going to argue with a southern pounce.. I feel no connection to the south or a fawning romanticism many from my background are programmed to feel.

Everything you "know" is passively assimilated from bias pro "IRA" southern accounts that pervade a toxic hollow fallacy of nationalism, not gleaned from reality or experience so it counts for nothing.

Almost everything you post is something you've cynically cherry picked and plagiarized to lend merit to a ridiculous vacuously held neoLIEberal "belief".

Why are you so interested in talking about brexit? Surely your country forfeited that right when it left the UK?

Youre descending into parody.

http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/faq/faq2.htm#when

Heres some information from ULSTER university on when the troubles started. It gives 3 starting points, the UVF, battle of the bogside and the violence against peaceful natuonalist protestors in Derry. All of them, and let me repeat that for you so it might sink in, ALL of them are violence against Catholics, not started by by Catholics.

So Nationalist violence was a reaction to THREE YEARS of loyalist and RUC violence. Which youve said is perfectly understandable as a natural and universal instinct. An instinct that Catholics held off on for 3 years of violence, shootings and bombings.

Youre so completely wrong on this that youve started lashing out about Brexit, priests and neoliberals just to distract from the fact that you know nothing about the history of your own country and yet you talk down to others about it. Such a joke. No wonder peace was so hard to come by when people like you deny the facts and foster this hatred deep within you, still bitter all these years later despite the fact youve no understanding of th situation.

Thank god for partition, it prevented many pedophilic priests getting their dirty hands on small children to r ape , abuse and sell.

Youre descending into parody.

No wonder peace was so hard to come by when people like you deny the facts and foster this hatred deep within you, still bitter all these years later despite the fact youve no understanding of th situation."

Have any more septic tanks been found full of dead neglected children in the glorious southern banana republic?

Please. I wouldn't waste time labouring with forensic detail over the intricacies of my country's history with a foreigner.

Continue to read your books written by IRA apologists. It really is none of my business .

Shameless cowardice. When faced with a harsh truth you keep trying to deflect to other issues and decide that you dont want to discuss it anymore.

No one buys your cowardly attempt to save face by running away. And I posted an Ulster University publication as my source, thats in Belfast which seems to be your city. I cant get much more local to you than that.

But dont worry. The only thing stopping Catholics from having a majority in the North is the over 70s crowd, pretty soon they'll die off and with the majority in the North Catholic and pro EU it wont be long till the 32 counties are back together

"What does a banana republic mean?

Banana republics are unstable poor regions in South and Central America who usually only have very limited exports ( i.e. bananas).

He doesnt know what it means but decided to use it anyway and in the wrong context.

I'm Catholic so hardly sectarian. The guy posts the same cut and paste drivel on a loop. He dares talk about my countries history in such a flippant manner?

The south has always needed a bigger teat to suckle.. how rich or economically developed was it before joining the EU and gaining access to cheap loans?

Germany does have big full milky figurative teats to drain.. even they're probably growing tired of being sucked dry by parasitic emaciated corpse Nations..

It's not a slur... The republic of Ireland is full of dead neglected children r aped , used and thrown away by an even bigger parasitic.. the Catholic church.

Stick to commenting on cow dung in the Ireland forum. As I've said before.. brexit had nothing to do with your country..

Enda Kenny did invoke a threat of a border poll though when he feared roi citizens would no longer be able to breeze in and out of the UK , take jobs.. entitlements to welfare or housing....

So that would plan to do ultimately.. toddle off to England? Probably. LLF.

Sectarianism has nothing to do with religion. Something you'd know if you knew anything about The Troubles. Then again youve shown scant knowledge on the topic so far.

"Sectarianism is a form of bigotry, discrimination, or hatred arising from attaching relations of inferiority and superiority to differences between subdivisions within a group."

Lets see, the island of Ireland is sub divided between the Republic and Northern Ireland. And you have certainly attached notions of superiority over the Republic in your posts here. And youve clearly got a lot of hate for us.

So you check all the boxes for sectarianism. You can add that to your islamaphobia, anti Catholicism and racism towards black people. What a bigoted, little narrow minded person you are. Luckily youre very much in the minority.

Listen to the self appointed member of the CON federalist eu sponsored ministry of "truth" !.

Reverting to an orwellian-esque hyme sheet of well trodden epithets to bleat mindlessly and invoke in the face of truths or opinions that run counter to a script of cliched meekly assimilated euro shit you worship and wank off over .

I mean .. when an island surrounded by water has to pay for it.. something is amiss.

Banana republic.. please stop telling what I am. A hand ringing neoLIEberal hypocrites sentiments of disapproval or endorsements are worthless dirt to me. You assign far too much importance to the drivel you post.

You're definitely an anglophobic racist.. you're not English or from the UK yet you post on issues that having nothing to do with you.

It would be a vast understatement to say if someone dared do the reverse the outcome would not be so friendly!

Of course I don't like the south. Your country has been an abject failure from the day and hour of its Foundation.. southern Ireland is supposed to be aspirational ?

Enjoy your life in England when you ultimately move there like so many of your type do.. although I think even the tolerance of the English is wearing thin for your type of hand wringing neoLIEberal Ponce telling them how to run their country.

"I'm surprised I've not seen this before, considering it was written nearly a year ago.

-Matt"

Why am I not surprised I have said this all along it is a complex business and cannot be done over a quick meeting and a few beers which most people seem to think and the government will not say because people would panic as they think it is pull out of this that and the other and it is done.

Both parties seem to not tell the truth over this yet people believe what they say.

We cannot tell the truth just as Churchill had to lie at times in the war because people cannot exept the truth.

Government must never tell all and secrecy is vital,it is up to the people to think things through for themselves most don't because the truth is not what they want to here either brexit or remainers. My plan is working on a seven year withdrawal I trust my judgement over anything I read or here because you are never told the truth get used to it,it should be this way

I'm in general agreement with you on many of those points but your wording is dramatic to say the least. Why are you so angry at Ireland?

In a global economy brexit has at least some influence on things for us but more so this being a forum and prople having opinions is all that matters here. Are you the thought police?

Would you not rise above, be the bigger man and not post about other people's countries in a flippant manner, to take why you are vexed in the first place.

Or is it an eye for eye in a war on misheld opinions
