"she took a gamble she losy GOODBYE" How is getting more votes and more seats than any other party losing?

"she took a gamble she losy GOODBYEHow is getting more votes and more seats than any other party losing?" Um.... because she was gambling on increasing the number of seats she had. It has been explained and repeated in here ad nauseam. May herself repeated that this election was about getting a 'stronger mandate' for brexit. And she lost the gamble and ended up with less seats, and a weaker mandate. -Matt

"OK the Tories fought a bloody awful campaign. If the 1983 Labour manifesto was "the longest suicide note in history" then this Tory campaign has to go down as the longest actual suicide. That said (allowing for Sinn Fein) she is only 4 seats short of a majority and over 60 seats in front of Labour. So all the talk about Labour forming a government is just hot air and bullshit. To get a majority even Corbyn would have to do some kind of deal with the DUP. The alternative would be another general election but, other than diehard Labour supporters, the general public are suffering from severe election fatigue and have no appetite for it. Maybe the Tories will ditch her. That is possible but (in the short term at least) unlikely. A leadership challenge would only trigger another election and no-one apart from Corbyn and Co would thank them for it. Personally I would love to see her get kicked out but at the moment I can't see any realistic alternative to her. So like it or not we are all stuck with her for a couple of years at least and the only thing that could change it would be for a clutch of bye elections to go the wrong way. " Regardless of what some may want, that's pretty much my analysis of the situation to, with the exception that May maybe gone by Christmas. Note I said May maybe gone, not either will or the Conservatives may.

"Yes she should and even osbourne sais she wont survive lol." Osborne is irrelevant. He is no longer an MP and he is no longer in government. He is a bitter Remoaner who is now sniping from the sidelines with the London evening standard. Anyone with half a brain can see what he is upto.

You are living in the past if you think Brexit is a ukip only issue, Brexit is much bigger than ukip now.

"One minute he's the architect of tory prosperity taking us forward to the nirvana of post brexit heaven and now he's a moaning know nothing.. Shallow are the zealots of the cause.. " He became irrelevant when he stepped down as an MP. He can say what he likes through his newspaper. Just as we can here. The fact is he is no longer a member of the parliamentary party....he is, like any other member of the public, a voice crying in the wilderness. Yes...he was a remainer..... so was May. She has, however, accepted the majority vote...as (mostly) have labour. Both manifestos stated that Brexit meant a number of things, leaving single market, leaving customs union, control of our borders (p29 of labour manifesto). Failing to do any of these is failing to brexit. As was said on question time last night...hard/soft brexit are media terms which actually don't exist. There is brexit or not brexit....it's that simple. The EU negotiators have said the same. The only thing that's up for negotiation is what kind of access we have TO the single market afterwards. Both main parties want this to be as tariff free as possible. May will stay until the negotiations are done...or at least in a clear position. Then she will go, but Tories will continue.....unless as others have said by-election results make their position untenable.

Osborne's prediction was false then, (he does have a well documented history of making false predictions such as immediate recession if the country votes Leave) it's been longer than a week now since the general election and Theresa May is still Prime minister. Someone tell him to stay away from the horoscope page in the London evening standard because his crystal ball is clearly not working.

"The tories are in damage control mode and rather than have this reflect on the whole party they see a useful scapegoat in May (and Barwell would have to go too in the current climate.) They'll keep her as a lightning rod till the brexit negotiations are screwed then replace her with a 'clean slate'." There's no clean slate, they're all thickly covered in toxic shit

"Holy crap. You thought May was bad at blatantly not answering i rations durin the election? This interview with her about Glenfell Tower is excruciating: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ftY1NlPk5YY&feature=youtu.be She really has to go. She is not fit for purpose. -Matt" I am uncomfortable with the glenfell and other fires. Tory policy and tory voting landlords forced the poor into awwful, sub standard accommodation, paying extortionate rents for dangerous accommodation. I just hope an enquiry will not shy away from any political influence that may have caused this and other fatalities and injuries on a smaller scale.

""I think Liam is in the world of fantasy, along with Mrs May. I am a supporter of BREXIT but, Mrs May has not been able to get hard BREXIT through the electorate, she won't be able to get it through the Cabinet, she won't be able to get it through her party, she won't be able to get it through the Commons, she won't be able to get it through the Lords. So she may as well stop talking about It now. In fact she should stop talking about anything because she's not going to there much longer" Michael Portillo speaking last night after a mad BREXIT rant by Liam Halligan. May is a dead woman walking; in office but not in power. Hard BREXIT is already dead, BREXITers are just looking at the twitching corp of an economically and politically dead argument and confusing that with signs of life. Next mission, kill of totaly the cancer to our economy, society and body politic that BREXIT really is. " Theresa May did get hard Brexit through the electorate, she won the general election. Seems Theresa May has got HARD brexit through the cabinet and the party as well. Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond said on the BBC Andrew Marr show this morning the UK position is still to leave the single market AND the customs union and Brexit negotiations with the EU start tomorrow as originally planned. The government position on brexit has not changed and is still the same now as it was before the general election. There may be a compromise on transitional arrangements as we leave and the transitional period may be a bit longer now that what was suggested before.
