"Ken Clarke said there should be a cross party approach to sorting out Brexit and given its importance then i tend to agree with him.. It is the biggest issue that this country collectively has faced since 1939 and there was a coalition then.. trouble is when its a political football its not going to satisfy everyone after its implemented so why not have it as a cross party group or something where the best and the most experienced from each party with expertise at that level should be left to get on with in in the National interest.. Had May proposed something like it when she took over with a view to having them in place and ready to go now there would have been no legal challenge and no election, both of which have damaged her.. it would have taken everyone by surprise and maybe put us in a stronger position when facing the EU.. naive i know.." yes but it would have been a good idea ! | |||

Absolutely agree with this 100%. It is obvious that Brexit is dividing the country and the only way to heal that division is to make the Brexit team a cross Party coalition. Remember that Prime Minister May has said that she personally will oversee the negotiations and from her performances in the election I don't think that anyone can have much confidence in that scenario. A non partisan negotiator needs to be appointed and that person reports back to a Brexit committee of say 12 people comprising a cross section of Parliament. | |||
