If there is another election down the line vote Conservative next time then. Give the Conservatives the majority they need.

Centaur for many decent people who vote Tory this alliance with the DUP will be a real point of concern..

granted there are those on the far right who wont be at all bothered in their rabid drive to further divide to satisfy their xenophobia..

Not sure what the fuss is all about. The DUP have always supported the Conservatives anyway.

The sad thing (for all of us) is that we are in a time of real political significance for this country and we have a weak Government and a Prime Minister who has lost all credibility. She will have "strong and stable" yelled at her relentlessly until the pressure becomes so great that she either falls on her sword or gets replaced by her own Conservative colleagues. Then what? Another "unelected" Prime Minister with no mandate, a still fragile majority and in all likelihood another election in the not too distant future.

Someone from one side or the other has to emerge from the shadows and heal this country from very real divisions.

She won't be able to prop up this unholy alliance with bigoted, homophobic, racist, climate change denying, anti abortion reactionaries!

It's just so funny to watch her squirm!

Why?! To quote from the Brexit manual "the people have spoken". The majority of this electorate do not want a Conservative government.

For the good of the country she should resign and another election held with a new leader of the Conservative Party.

It is criminal to start the Brexit negotiations knowing that in all likelihood her term could very realistically be over sooner, rather than later. This won't happen whilst the momentum is so much with Labour just now.

Conservatives got the biggest number of votes and won the most number of seats returned (318 seats compared to Labours 262 seats). Conservatives biggest vote share on 42% (compared to Labours 40%) so tories won the popular vote. As you said the people have spoken and the Conservatives won.

brexit will fizzle out now .... the tory party (or to give it's official title since 1912, "the conservative and unionist party") .... the tory party is now engaged in a bitter political civil war and it will in all probability, take centre stage ... brexit will likely be a sideshow from now on, as the factions within the torys concentrate on trying to wipe out each others ideologies. this will get a lot messier because these idiot shit-gibbons won't be able to contain their vitriol for each other for the sake of the nation.

Yeah realise it costs money, time, energy and manpower to run an election campaign right? By a conservatives standards this should be a pyrric victory.

Literally though their miscalculation they have allowed labour TO GAIN.

Let that sink in, the tories majority prior to this election granted them a bit of wiggle room but they were still forced back on issues between labour, the SNP and occssionally the lib dems.

Labour now has the capacity to hold them to account far more effectively, the tory party will replace mrs may asap, and then they will be seen as weak again.

Strong tory seats where labour never polls above 10000 votes saw their majority closed to a few hundred. Tory minsters lost their seats. Amber Rudd had to ask what? 5 recounts to hold her seat by 300.

Face it, the tories won but at what cost, if this loose allice with DUP falls through you'll see two things happen labour trying to take their place, or another election. If that latter happens the tories will lose again if they keep may and do not alter their campaign stratagy and manifesto.

Given how the tory party are half soft and half hard tories, I question how would get leadership.

The only sensible thing now for the Conservatives is a clear indication of a move away from BREXIT. That puts Hammond clearly in the frame. Any move to a BREXITer now is a move towards electoral decimation at the next election, probably before Christmas.

You don't half type some rubbish. The tories who lost their seats on Thursday were mostly pro remain tories like Neil Carmichael. The tory remainers influence in government has been diminished by the general election result and the Tory Brexiters influence has been strengthened. It's rumoured on the news now that 2 big Brexiters Michael Gove and Dominic Raab could be making a return to the cabinet.
