If you disclosed your voting behaviour to your peers? I nearly voted Labour but he flipped on long standing ethics (trident and shoot to kill), that aside, I really wonder what reasons there are (other than great meet), to justify them taxing those they planned to help most. Honestly looking for an answer as I think there seems a lack of thought and a lot of self interest (nationally). | |||

But as he explained with Trident, it was a party decision and he has (reluctantly) gone along with it as that is what they want. With shoot-to-kill he has said he would back the Police to use whatever force them deemed appropriate. Quite clearly in both cases you can see he is still very much against the idea of killing, but has had to make compromises. Unfortunately I think that is something that every politician is going to have to do to some degree or other. Put another way, what would you call a PM who did exactly what they wanted without any input from anyone else at all? Probably a 'dictator'. So I guess whilst, I agree with you to a point (hey, I'd love Trident to be dropped. Not because having a nuclear deterrent in itself is bad, but because of what more effective things in this day and age that money could be put towards). But I would still say he is the one who has compromised the least on his principles. As to nice vs not nice. Yes, I would. I am a firm believer that there is more to be gained in life by not being a complete pain in the arse the whole time. And that is what May's approach seems to be. If she is hated by her constituents, and can't even bring herself to meet any of them.... how is she going to have any empathy for them and the issues they face? -Matt | |||
