I'm voting Lib Dem because they have a chance to beat the Tories in my constituency and Labour, who I'd vote for ideally, don't.

In what way do I think this is 'clever'? It's just basic logic.

always a good idea...

If a vote for what you want has no chance of counting vote the best chance of defeating what you don't want!

I voted tory even though i wanted to vote lib dem. But realistically lib dems can't win here, their candidate is shite anyway and recently the majority was under 500. I just hope this is the end of the looney left and we can have some decent center politics to choose from next time.

Ukip as a party have already taken a tactical approach to this general election by not standing in a number of marginal seats to help consolidate the Ukip and Tory vote there. I usually vote Ukip but I'll be voting tactically for the Tories today in my constituency. I think this will be reflected over most of the country where a large chunk of the Ukip vote from 2015 will switch to vote Tory. The main threat to the Conservatives at the start of this election was complacency and a risk of some voters staying at home, no chance of that now the polls have narrowed the traditional Tory vote will come out along with a large chunk of the Ukip vote going Tory as well.

For the most part tactical voting won't work.

In a Labour strong hold for example, such as where I live, there used to be some Tory supporters tactical voting for Lib Dems, and some traditional Labour voters who despised Blair and Brown would do the same.

Since Lib Dems coalition with the Tories though any Labour supporter who didn't support Corbyn would sooner abstain than vote for Lib Dem who sold out to the Tories.

It might have seen a good idea at the time to form a coalition and get into government, but it's done far more damage to them in the longer term.

Do you think a party who never gets into power are still a worthwhile party?
