Six gulf states, incl Saudi Arabia, have broken off diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing them of backing militant groups incl IS and al-Qaeda.Hoping this could be very very significant in the long run.

Hopefully it will be, though I think Saudi Arabia needs scrutinised as well.

It is a smokescreen, nothing more.

The real reason they are cutting relations to Qatar is because they want to shut down the global news chanel al jeezera. Which is based in Qatar.Al jeezera constantly criticizes these countries and many of their journalists have been locked up.

Qatar's Emir first gesture of good will likely be the shutting of Al Jazeera TV network entirely.

This has little to do with anything moral. I doubt anything good will come of this unfortunately.

100% it's simply a regional powerplay. Mostly about which set of terrorists are the right ones...
