Seems the promised extra 100,000 a year social in housing wont be all that social...

Rents will be set at up yo 200%, yep double!, that of social housing in the areas where they are built but will be at least 40% higher than social housing rents. But when Housing Minister Gavin Barwell admitted the party was planning to continue to build homes with higher rents and was not in fact reinstating traditional socially rented council housing he did not see it as a problem or a reversal of a manifesto promise.

Remember when voting for Mrs Mays Tories next Thursday:

who knows

people really need to look into the tory manifesto especially the naylor report which is a complete sell off of nhs sites.

they have a lot of property and a lot that is earmarked for the nhs is to facilitate the selling off.

and been advised to sell at rock bottom prices too.

and i doubt very much most of you, will be better off.

Under 8,000 council houses built in 13 years of a Labour government. Party of the working class my arse. It's this chronic shortage of council houses built during that period which has lead to problems we see today.

No, but it prompts the question - why do you think neither major party is really interested in building council houses?

Between 1979 and 1996 an average of 50,761 new homes in the social housing sector were built, compared to 24,299 from 1997-2008.

The right to buy introduced by Thatcher accounted for 1.5 million council homes being bought to date.
