"They have taken most of the peoples benefits and now they are after the pensioners winter fuel. I wonder why they dont mention that in the manifesto? To take from the poor and give to the rich, the robin hood tax." They have asked for a means test on winter fuel payments which means they are doing what the population has been moaning about for the last few years Rich pensioners that dint need it especially ones living in thailand dont need it as the welfare system is or should be based on need to support people and not a god given right After all thats what it was intended for, you and i and everyone else pays into a pot for people that need it in hard times its not a right I pay more in tax and ni than some people earn in a week But i dont care as long as mildred down the road gets a hip replacement if she needs it

"Rumour is that she really sacked Gove because he refused to sack 2 of his advisers when she found out they were having an affair. Did you read that in the ok magazine?" No, amongst other places that carried that story it was covered by the Mail (a paper you quote quite often I believe).

I do feel I people are still working they should not get it and if they live abroad they should get it. It does depend on where the line is drawn she needs to do this otherwise could cost her a few seats.

"Jeremy Corbyn has said that he would not means test it. So Paul McCartney can have his £200 as JC sees it as a universal benefit. Will he apply the same criteria to Child Benefit?" Jeremy Corbyn also said on the the Jeremy Vine show on BBC radio 2 in the week he would be happy for a multi millionaire pensioner like Mick Jagger to continue to get the winter fuel allowance and that is what would happen under Loopy Labour. People like Mick Jagger should not be getting it. The winter fuel allowance should be means tested and of course less well off pensioners will continue to get it. It's the very wealthy pensioners who will stop getting it and rightly so.

"Anyone got to the bit about controlling the internet? Seems Ms May does not just want to know what sites we visit and what our emails say, she now has plans to decide what sites we can visit and what we can say and share on the internet. Now considering she is an authoritarian vickers daughter who it is believed has strong views on infidelity, do any of the pro Tory forumites wish to comment about how this little titbit at the end of the manifesto will probably directly affect fab and us all?" In answer to your questions, here is a very good concise round-up of the digital parts that the Tories plan on bringing in, in which they talk about bringing in censorship: https://paulbernal.wordpress.com/2017/05/19/a-disturbing-plan-for-control/ As to how it affects the likes of Fab, I'm not sure. As the article above states, they make no distinction between 'pornography' and 'illegal pornography' which seems to paint the picture that even legal sexual acts and activities are to be targeted. As to the actual feasibility of restricting access to Fab, it would be very tricky to actually do so in a technical sense without larger collateral damage. Simply making it illegal would be the 'easier' route but not sure on what grounds they could make it illegal. -Matt

"Shouldn't every benefit be means tested tho winter fuel to licence buss passes pip dla ?" In an ideal world yes. But *how* are you going to means test pensioners? They are generally retired, and so have often no income. I can't remember which office said it, but apparently the actual process of means testing the winter fuel allowance would cost as much as an saving that would be achieved. So not as simple as you might think. -Matt

"Exactly 5th largest yet we r the second biggest donator or overseas aid why not the 5th maybe could look after our own poor a bit more " That is right as britain will be in extreme poverty, so they could cut back on foreign aid and instead help their own people instead of them needing to go to food banks.

"Exactly 5th largest yet we r the second biggest donator or overseas aid why not the 5th maybe could look after our own poor a bit more " Ukip would cut the foreign aid budget and spend the money saved here in the UK, and it's in the Tory manifesto to review and possibly alter the way foreign aid is spent (although they would keep the 0.7%). As for Labour and the Lib dems, just more of the same old, same old keep the 0.7% and keep spending it on daft projects like an Ethiopian version of the Spice Girls.

""can i bring this topic right back full circle and ask the people who are going to vote tory what they like about the manifesto... is it just "all about brexit" and forget everything else.... just because for example.... on education spend alone.. the IFS have done the sums based on manifesto pledges.... and works out its actually a real term cut.... i haven't heard one person back up the proposals on social care today.... or on taking Winter fuel payments not only from the rich (of which there was agreement) but on everyone except those on pension credit... or the "breakfast for lunch" swop on school meals.... or the cap on energy bills, which everyone hated when milliband proposed it.... or is everything just so fixated on "brexit" that they get a pass on everything else.... I am really just curious....." I am not sure what a brexitor is smoking to believe in their utopia.

"and i ask because the spin from the right wing newspapers wasn't "brilliant decision!" but.... "well at least she was telling you the truth!" because i have had conversations with people planning on voting tory... and when you actually mention the plans on pensioners, or education, or social care those plans are never defended.... but the topic is always quickly moved on brexit..... ..... and that is always what happens here... thats why i ask is it just solely based on brexit......" I was going to answer this for you on the other thread the other day Fabio but it filled up to 175 posts. Seeing as you ask again though I agree with the tories on keeping and renewing trident. Labour cannot be trusted on trident despite it being in the Labour manifesto to keep it you've already had Emily Thornberry saying it could be scrapped if Labour win. Everyone also knows Corbyn personally wants to scrap trident. The security of the nation is the most important thing and trident is key to our security. Labour cannot be trusted on Trident and they can't be trusted on Brexit either.

"For me it's all about brexit u couldn't trust corbyn to put up a fight in a million yrs may is the best we AV for this scrap by a mile then the next elections I'll b voting labour again by then they will AV sumone with a pair of balls " And yet JC remained firm in the face of a revolt by the Blairites in Labour, stood and won a second time as leader. He's had to show more resolve than May even in recent history.
