BBC saying UKIP is finished

The fools... it's merely a tactical switch by their voters to support the Tories in delivering Brexit.

Anyone else notice the constant anti-UKIP bias from the BBC?

To be fair they have for many years been a single policy party and they've achieved that (all bar the shouting). So I think that the huge fall in votes is a reflection of that, having said that if they wish to continue they need essentially a massive rebrand and to get up to speed very quickly with some sensible policies if they wish to move forward..

So once the Tories have attempted to deliver Brexit, what purpose does UKIP have?

Probably an anti-immigration, anti-liberal, anti-PC platform.

UKIP was a one trick pony that got beat at its own game when the Conservatives delivered the referendum.

They had one idea and never managed to get enough support to deliver it themselves.

The Greens on 40 Council seats

UKIP on 1 Council seat.

UKIP are now 40 times weaker than the Green party on 1 council seat and zero MP's

With no agenda and no seats, I don't see much for them now.

I don't often post in here but the purpose of ukip is done

Fair enough The torys delivered the referendum but I think without ukip it wouldn't have happened.

Think of them as a glass cannon, their job is done so now they shatter.

It's not exactly unusual for the BBC to cross the line from reporting facts to peddling bias and opinion. it happens on a regular basis.

"Probably an anti-immigration, anti-liberal, anti-PC platform. "

I can imagine anti-immigration wont go down well: Even some of the staunchest leavers (Dan Hannan for example) said immigration is good, it just needs to be controlled - most people agree, and with an a rapidly ageing population, younger people don't want to be milked anymore than need be.

Anti-liberal: Political suicide. What are you going to do, take the moral low ground and ban homosexual marriage? Freedom of speech? Freedom of and freedom from religion?

Anti-PC: Depends on how far they go. But it's not going to be something that allows them to immaculate power.

Well yes, and seeing has how it looks like Mrs May will get a green light for a UKIP style brexit, then guess what, UKIP gets what it wants, then it is over, all those voters have to go back to their left/right wing homes to vote on domestic issues.

I'd say the BBC is biased towards UKIP. They get a lot more air time than they would appear to deserve given their abject performance on Thursday. Their job is done. Their one and only MP has given up and there will never, ever be another UKIP MP in parliament. They need consigning to the dustbin of history immediately

I agree they get to much air time if it was balanced the greens would get as much air time.

We shall see what happens as the greens are on the up and UKIP has be obliterated.

But for 20 years that's all UKIP have been about... anti EU, leaving the EU & now a proper political party is delivering it UKIP have become irrelevant.

Having Farage in such a prominent role for so long with his constant barrage of hatred against the EU he has become an irrelevant figure just like his party.

Ask the average person what UKIP stands for and other than hating foreigners / Brussels they probably couldn't name a thing.

So I don't subscribe to the BBC being anti-UKIP, it's UKIP that have been so focused on just one issue that have shown they aren't capable of being taken seriously as a party with the skill to run the UK. If the BBC have shone a light on this over the years then the BBC have been doing their job correctly & UKIP have now been caught with their pants down because now we have Brexit UKIP don't have a policy to vote for.

The BBC has an incredibly biased opinion on a number of issues

The fact that it's compulsory for people living in the U.K. to pay for a licence to receive propaganda is worrying

At least in North Korea they get their propaganda for free!

Let's look at the simple facts here.

UKIP lost every single seat they were defending. All of them. Every single one.

They won one seat at random. Other than that it was a total wipeout.

How much more would have to happen to be "finished".

I can't see anything wrong in what the BBC said.

Paul Nuttall has gone into hiding!

Pretty much this..

You can't put a positive spin on a disastrous result for them..

I honestly think they could fold before the 8th Jun election..

"

I think that one trick was their only real aim. UKIP threw a bucket of cold water over British politics which kinda alarmed Westminster. They made the establishment sit up and take note. .

I am of the opinion that without that bucket of water Cameron wouldn't have offered the referendum. . . The outcome of which is now in motion.

So, you could say UKIP succeeded in their target . . which is a lot more than other parties can claim.

I've been a Ukip voter/supporter for around the last 10 years but I will be voting tactically for Theresa May and the Conservatives on June 8th. I (and I assume many other Ukippers) see this General election as the final hurdle to achieve Brexit so if a vote for Theresa May and the Conservatives is what it takes that's what we'll do. As far as Ukips future goes it all depends on how Theresa May handles Brexit. If she delivers the Brexit she has outlined then Ukip could fade away but if she starts to backslide on Brexit and fudges the deal to keep us in the single market and the customs union, if we continue to pay the EU huge sums of money, if we continue to get free movement of people and if we don't reclaim our territorial fishing waters then Ukip could start to make a comeback. We won't know what the final Brexit deal will look like for at least 2 years though.

With this general election one thing I'm not happy with the Conservatives is the continued 0.7% (£12 billion a year) on foreign aid and I'd like to see that cut, but I'll look over that on this occasion and vote Conservative to make sure Brexit happens.

Labour is also finished, lost 382 seats at the local elections on Thursday. Also losing control of traditional Labour strongholds like Glasgow council in Scotland and Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. The only crumb of comfort for Labour was Andy Burnham winning the Mayor seat in Manchester where Corbyn went scurrying to but Burnham didn't want to be seen with Corbyn and went to an alternative venue. Labour will be crushed at the general election on June 8th.

Ukip won the last European MEP elections in the UK returning more MEP's for Ukip than any other party. They also got 4 million votes at the last general election in 2015 so it's only right they should be heard on programmes like BBC Question Time. As for Farage he really doesn't need to appear on BBC radio, he has his own radio show on LBC.

Central

The BBC have arguably given ukip a positive position, despite Laura K, their editor I think, being very pro-Conservative.

Ukips future in part relies on money. They've had £millions of public money and been bankrolled by wealthy donors.

It's intelligent to know when to leave or end something but it may take a while for them to give up.
