Prime Minister May is an emotional liability

Jump to newest

There appears to be little hope of progress being made with the EU negotiating team as long as PM May has put herself at the head of the UK negotiating team and has already allowed her emotions to cloud the issues.

Cool heads and clear vision is needed to negotiate and even though the talks have not even started, our Prime Minister has started to blame others because she can't control the agenda or the pace.

Time for a new PM? Time to replace an emotional woman with a more stable person who does not suffer her inherent weaknesses and flaws. As she herself said, getting it wrong will not cost her - it will cost the ordinary person.

I'm curious what do you mean by this?

She has both control and emotional issues and neither are conducive to being a successful negotiator.

1) By insisting that she herself heads up the negotiating team this provides the EU negotiator with an advantage as he is going to be dealing with the decision maker and can "close" her. The EU negotiator will always have to defer to a higher authority and do cannot be "closed."

2) she displayed an emotional weakness yesterday by ranting about hidden forces, threats and interference, none of which was true but simply highlighted how easily she can be rattled.

What do you expect, she's trying to keep a foot in each camp.

Eventually a rift will form in the party and one faction will pull the rug from under her.

The tory party could split much the same way like labour did, accept rather than after the referendum, during the negotiations. Unless of course the tory party somehow deselects the pro-eu MP's so they have a orwellian approach to Brexit.

What was she ranting about in regards to hidden forces, threats and interference - sounds remarkably like trump and farage.

Tbh, I don't like the idea of a PM negotiating. She should delegate the role to the most suitable out of a team of negotiators and legal experts.

Strong man politics are something, but for God's sake, delegate.

I have just been watching Donald Tusk also just say that emotions need to be kept in check.

I really do think that May and her team need to just suck it up and get on with leaving with a little bit more dignity than is being shown this far. The election is a complete sideshow, just like it was for Alex Tsipiras the Greek. We are leaving, the deal will be worse than what we have now so let's just accept it and move on with grace.

Let's just get the fuck out of the EU without any drama, but make sure that any and every Brexiter that you know, owns the outcome and is not left to forget it.

The strong EU rhetoric is for domestic consumption. Nothing meaningful can be done in Brexit negotiations until after the French and UK elections.

As opposed to let's-sterilise-those-on-benefits right wing?

See lumping people together like that sounds stupid doesn't it?

I'm quick sickened by the vile comments on this forum towards Dianne Abbot. In her job I think she is incompetent, hypocritical and useless. But read some of the comments on her towards her and you'd think she eats newborns.

It's quite incredible that after all this time and I'm talking over 25 years not just the past year , that we're talking about being reasonable , being constructive and not emotional over talks with the EU . At the end of the day we need a tough leader not someone who will be a push over .

How many prime ministers (Major, Blair Duncan smith , Cameron etc ) have ever come away with anything in terms of a rebate for what we put into the financial system ? despite us being its biggest contributor alongside Germany . Each and every one of them has failed why because of the arrogance and self centred nature of how the EU conducts itself , bottom line is

You can't make deals with a DICTATORSHIP !!!!

We have in my opinion the best Prime minister we've had since our last lady prime minister , but deep down we all know that's she's wasting her time, like I said you can't negotiate with a dictatorship.

Duncan Smith, thankfully, was never PM. He was replaced as Conservative leader just before the election because he was almost as ineffectual as leader of the opposition as the current one is. Unfortunately the Conservatives went on to choose Michael Howard after that so still lost the election anyway.

According to May there are sinister foreigners interfering in our democratic processes...

Would that include Rupert Murdock the American ex Australian who controls the largest British private media group and want to take total control of Sky? Or is his interference the right sort because he backs the Tories?

Or maybe the Daily Mail owned by tax dodger Harold Harmsworth, 1st Viscount Rothermere and registered in Bermuda for tax purposes and therefore also a foreign company is also not a problem because the 1930's Nazi and Oswald Mosley backer now backs the Tories?

And where is the Tory outrage about the Canadian Conrad Black interfering in UK politics? Guess its OK when its the Telegraph pumping out anti Corbyn, anti Labour and pro May, pro Tory propaganda.
