I've only posted in here for the last week or so. Mainly for fun, as I dont think I've ever seen such a collective of angry people.

Anyway, as the title says, have any of you ever changed any of your views based on what someone else has said on here?

The Comedians, I remember that too. Wonder how many of them would be allowed on tv today? But I digress. Not changed my views but this forum has reinforced my belief that a lot of people who lean to the left and claim to be liberal and tolerant are actually the angriest and least tolerant of other peoples' views

I didn't say it as it would make them angry. Bit, we were all thinking it and someone had to say it.

I get angry and dismayed but not surprised at the levels of racism and sheer hatred for other humans that some on here at times exhibit..

The lack of humanity is appalling again albeit by some..

With some it's ignorance and with some they have a very worrying agenda to divide and spread their hate like they thrive on it which is also a sad thing..

Politics has always raised emotions but that's not new..

On some small stuff it has been interesting to see some viewpoints.....

As long as people can back up what they write with evidence as opposed to just writing a sound bite that may well have written at some party hq I'll give it a proper listen

see.... ii have been here so long the good posters on "the other side" have gone....

see... there was this poster called wishy... and we were i think on the other side of every single issue... but he was a great debater and could really make you think.... and that forced everyone else to raise their game

like i said... the interesting and sourced conversation is in the main only coming from one side... which means the other is reduced to soundbites

Well maybe you should consider what you post as I would suggest you in the last few weeks have contributed greatly to the sense of anger that some people feel.

Your consistent highly personal and brutal attack on the elected representatives of the Scottish goverment springs particularly to mind. In fact the nasy thread started and encouraged by you was ultimately closed down by the moderators. I personally don't belive there is a place for encouraging sexual violence on any women unless it's in the context of fantasy and role play.

Ps nothing I have read in any of the forums has changed my mind in fact if anything it just reinforces my own views.

Happy swinging!

Pssst. If you actually read that thread, there was no point did I condone or say that I would commit sexual violence. Im guessing you had your tartan coloured glasses on.

With regards my views on the SNP and Chairman Sturgeon, I think their actions and rantings are anti democratic. Nothing will change those views. Personally, I think Westminster should just treat them like a naughty child and ignore their childish ragings.

Happy swinging xxx

This is the first time I've posted on here since they moved politics to a separate forum and I have to say no, it hasn't. I am quite political in my daily life when I can debate things face to face with people but on here there seems no point. Although there are people who can measure their opinions and argue their points well (both those I naturally agree with and others), having read a fair few threads on here I find some of the polarised opinions and some of the posters repugnant. And I'm not on fab to make me feel sad for humanity.

However much Scots may loathe the Westminster elite's indifference to our country, we do not hate English people, although your little Englander attitude would certainly justify it.

Its always felt like the Scots hate the English (by the way Im half Welsh/ half Irish, no Englander in me). Just look at World Cups etc when you support anyone who is playing England. Maybe its a small thing, but it does create a strong impression of animosity to anyone South of the Scottish border.

I actually really like Scotland and have some lovely holidays up there. I've met some great people, as well as being verbally attacked in an Edinburgh bar solely due to my accent.

Its the whinging and whining about being so hard done by by Westminster rule that gets my goat. I also know a lot of people from both sides of the political spectrum down here who begrudge this attitude when it feels that you get a better slice of the cake with things like free prescriptions and free university etc.

Maybe if westminster wasnt squandering 56 BILLION on HS2 that will really only benefit the south east along with wasting 200 BILLION on trident you could have these things too ..funny how they can find the money for these and unlawful wars but cant give a sick person free prescriptions

.

Maybe thats why the Europeans can afford to spend 2% more of their GDP on healthcare?.

Where as we just keep being told the NHS is unaffordable but we never ever hear anyone in government say the same about trident?.

Funny that

i am not against hs2..... i think they missed a trick... I would build it from the north downwards.... and if people in london dont want it.... at least it would connect up the big northern cities... glasgow edinburgh...newcastle leeds, sheffiled manchester and liverpool.....

and the 56 billion price tag wasn't all at once.... it was costed over 25 years

i would love for us to have a great a high speed network as they do in france and germany... and that costs money....

And worse.... Often in their "tolerance" they end up defending regimes or religions that are by their nature intolerant and even deadly !

And when you point out the contradiction they run from the debate and slap a racist , or fascist label on you !

There is a difference between robust debate and being rude and offensive!

I like to debate with others on the opposite spectrum, because while its unlikely to change my core views , it does sometimes create, or open new forms or angles to certain issues !

This of course does not apply to fanatics or ignorant people !

One cant argue with a closed mind !

It will be so expensive to travel on, it'll only be business people who can offset it on tax that'll use it.

Im in Exeter. When travelling to London, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds its usually cheaper to fly than take the train. That cannot be right!

Yeah, rail costs are crazy. I'm in Bristol and we worked out it would be cheaper to charter a helicopter if more than 4 people at work wanted to get to London during peak time.

My son has just got a return flight to Florida for £350. That is the same price as a 1st class peak ticket from Bristol to London.

Were they not democratically elected then?

And, I have o say that the level of arrogance in that ststement is breathtaking.

As for whether this forum has changed my views...No, it hasn't.

I've been on other, soley political forums and I have had my views altered slightly on those, but this one is incredibly heavily moderated and the level of debate is pretty poor - this is not to say that there aren't intelligent posters, but they are more often than not in the minority.
