I saw two rather revealing interviews at lunchtime, both advocating strategic alliances.

First was Caroline Lucas of the Greens. She was wanting Labour and Lib Dems to stand aside at a few selected constituencies, so that it was a straight Blue v Green fight.

Second was our old friend Gina Millar. She is actually a Labour supporter, but won't be voting Labour, as she doesn't like Jeremy Corbyn. She want a very tactical "anti-brexit" vote, identifying the best party to take on the Conservatives in each constituency, in order that Remainers can get behind that party.

I advocated a Pro-EU party many months ago, to fight a GE.

Are the ideas above sound and with merit, or will it just go to dilute the anti-Conservative vote?

Is that the Gina Miller who was only interested in Parliamentary democracy and who promised to crawl back to her day job after the court case?

Yes, the very same multi-millionairess. She was challenged to stand as an MP, but rather ducked the issue.

You act like tactical voting is a brand new concept.... how many ukip voters in the past voted for the tories

In fact how many people voted ukip because they had a better chance in the north than the conservatives

Or vote lib dem in a labour seat......

I find people like this hilarious.

So what she is suggesting is splitting up the non-tory vote across the country rather than trying to encourage support for any one single party.

The problem with the left wing vote at present is the proliferation of parties on the left which actually makes it much more difficult for any one left wing party to win.

What Gin a Miller has perhaps failed to realise is that what she is suggesting will actually make a conservative majority MORE likely.

Bravo Ms Miller

Whilst tactical voting has always been around, these ideas take it to a more organised and "Industrial" scale.

Media interviews with ordinary voters are throwing up some rather surprising attitudes.

You must have never heard of vote swap websites then.....

You must be one of the lucky ones where your seat is a contested seat and there is a genuine challenge... the rest of us 75% live in places where a donkey wearing the right coloured rosette would win

They are trying to stop it being as hard a brexit as TM is leading the troops... not stopping it altogether

No, never heard of them but then I don't do social media.

I see that Labour have already ruled out a deal in Brighton with the Greens.

With an 8000 majority over labour i doubt they'll lose..but who knows these days.

Yep, this is what I have thought, the left is fragmented already, this attitude will make it easier for the tories to sneak a more minor gains in.

I mean don't get me wrong, the right could split in the election. There are the hard right and centre right voters - and I think May's current agenda has pushed away some of the centre right votes, god knows where they will go, if anywhere though.

Jeremy Corbyn has already ruled out the idea of a 2nd EU referendum. The tories just want to get on with Brexit with a healthy majority. Brexit will still happen no matter what the general election results is.

Yep, this is what I have thought, the left is fragmented already, this attitude will make it easier for the tories to sneak a more minor gains in.

They wont go anywhere even remainers to a remain voting tory there is still one thing worse than brexit and thats a labour govt

unless we get P R you will get tactical voting !

I'm voting Conservative !

Not because I want to !

But because where I live it's the only chancre of besting labour !
