Whilst I find myself agreeing with many of their principles I find the lies a bit too much.

Just been blandly stated that the "great repeal bill" will not include over a third of the environmental laws.

1) utter bollocks. ALL EU laws are being taken into British law (can only then be altered or amended by parliament at a later date). Little chance of much or our goods would not be saleable if we don't keep to same kind of regs.

2) a huge amount of the environment regs originated in the U.K. To start with....they were our rules first and then taken up by the EU.

Grantham

And the pledge that "anyone can belong to any organisation without fear of prosecution"!

Are they serious with that one?

"

I think he was referring to what Environment Secretary Andrea Leadsom said "that about one third of the current environmental rules would be difficult to transpose into UK law, saying "there will be work to do to ensure we can continue to make these measures work once we leave the EU"."

So yes when he said that a third might not be a transferred over "probably, according to the government". I'd say that was taking it a bit far. But not far off the truth.

As I said before some of the laws won't be able to be transferred over 'copy and paste' as they refer to other institutions or mechanisms of the EU that we will no longer be a part of.

The bill will transfer all of them in the first instance. Some may not be relevant. Parliament can then amend or remove them, if they only apply to things which we are not part of then it makes sense and would not be detrimental to anyone.

My point was, as usual, a politician just trying to make a cheap political score.

Right, but if there is a law that says something like "water quality will be maintained and tested by the central EU water quality assessor once a month", then what happens with that? Yes we could copy the text verbatim. But if we are no longer able to use the services of the central EU water assessor as we are not a part of the EU, then that effectively makes that law moot doesn't it? I mean that is what the government report a few days ago that was referred to was saying, we will need to create various bodies, watchdogs, etc to enforce environmental protect as we will no longer be a part of the EU ones.
