"Apparently less than a third of French people want to leave the Eurozone, let alone the EU, so Le Pen is now having to backtrack and propose reintroducing the Franc ALONGSIDE the Euro. " Given the massive errors that expert pollsters have made over the last 18 months (the uk general election, the EU referendum and the US presidential election), I'm surprised Le Pen is taking much notice of any polls. Come the election time in France I fully expect it to go right down to the wire, between Le Pen and François Fillon.

"Er, the Socialist primary isn't until 22nd January and the run off on the 29th. So they haven't settled on a candidate yet. Who knows what might happen. All we can really say is Hollande has been rejected." what WILL happen is that the left will have to back a Thatcherite to stop the far right. nevermind eh

"Maybe, or a Blairite. Either way, it won't be Le Pen and it won't cause a euro crisis." there already is one. They can't go on 'printing' money forever

"Maybe, or a Blairite. Either way, it won't be Le Pen and it won't cause a euro crisis." . I wouldn't bet on it.... Even with the French second round system. What's she polling at the moment about 40%?. It's going to be another close one

"Maybe, or a Blairite. Either way, it won't be Le Pen and it won't cause a euro crisis." having thought about this, if the left have to vote for the right to stop the far right, who are they going to blame for this? Err, oh yes, the EU. So come next summer you will have the majority of France angry with or against the EU. So an EU crisis to come on top of the Euro crisis. What a mess they have made of things yet carry on regardless

As we've seen recently, there is a big difference in what people say and what people actually do.

Guess where I ended up? with the realisation I'm right probably "Right" was a word, yes, but not in that context. " in politics I am anywhere...other than with socialism. But if you've searched the web then you will know that the left has to support a Thatcherite who wants to cut 500,000 public sector jobs if they want to stop Le Penn. But then the hard leaft who want to remove some EU Treaties and end EU imposed austerity have no chance of doing those things unless they vote for Le Penn. So, at the end of it all, who will feel the ire of the French?
