I agree with your summation.

What annoys me is the Scottish nationalist that want our PM to divulge our negotiation strategies. How bloody stupid. But the nationalist mantra is to do anything that disrupts the progression of Britain or to blame Westminster for the ills of the world.

Appears that we are still at "have cake and eat it" position.

Unlike your assessment, mine is that she looked and sounded out of her depth and that the gap between her words and actions is increasing into a chasm. Brexit has the very real potential to destroy the UK and to destroy the European Union and for what ultimate purpose other than flag waving, incorrect sound bytes and misdirected dissatisfaction with our own political setup.

I don't understand why Sophie Ridge did not press harder on the most basic of the many Brexit contradictions and really put Prime Minister Maybe on the spot? Maybe the reason that Sky and Ridge got the gig is because of a pre-agreed line of questioning that Peston or Marr would not agree to.

Well May has admitted that Britain wont be able to keep access to the single market. The pre-negotiation work are starting to shape the outcome already. The next couple of weeks will see everyone start to set expectations ahead of the formal and public negotiations.

Hrmmm.... I'm not sure what to make of the interview. I mean, on one hand I do agree with her on the concept that she is focussing on the outcome in the end and not the means. In general I think that is a good approach, but the devil is always in the detail.

But, yes, she does still seem to be on 'cake and eat it' mode. So i will be very interested to see what she comes out with. She did mention that she wants not only a good trading relationship with (and in?!) the single market and the EU, but also bilateral agreements with individual countries... I presume she is not on about EU members. Sophy did ask her four times to come clean on the stance on the single market and she managed to not answer the question each time.

‘Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope’ … and to all the British people—howsoever they voted—may I say this. Now that the Election is over, may we get together and strive to serve and strengthen the country of which we're so proud to be a part. And finally, one last thing: in the words of Airey Neave whom we had hoped to bring here with us, ‘There is now work to be done’.

Thatcher said that when she took office in 79. I wonder how much more of Thatchers playbook May is going to copy, of course she will not be able to engineer a little war to win her the next GE (unless she can persuade France to lend us an aircraft carrier and the Donald some planes (and pilots) to fly off it...)

With the little I've heard on the radio that we're not hanging on to bits of the EU I take that as no interest in having any access to the single market and free movement of people.

Unless the 27 choose to allow us access with no free movement, which I'd be surprised but would be the best outcome.

She said nothing. Nobody is saying anything. They are still trying to sound out what's possible but it's becoming clear that it may be nothing.

WTO rules with plenty of uncertainty in negotiating our terms as we may not be able to inherit those of the EU which we currently operate under.

I'm not sure why this would be good for anyone though.

Very true, even with the polls being untrustworthy at the moment the gap between the Tories and Labour in the polls is so massive even allowing for a large margin of error the Tories still come out with a healthy lead over Labour.

I could not agree more . She will be an excellent Prime Minster and has the skills to negotiate a great deal for the UK.

The EU will no longer be able to tell us what we can and cannot do.
